To my knowledge, the foreigners who decide to study the language are either men who have Filipina wives, or students in Asian studies (not including Fil-Am children trying to learn the language fully). He seems to be doing alright in conversational Tagalog, speaking only slightly with an accent and consistently, not appearing scripted. Did you teach him to speak the language or did he take classes/self-study? How long did it take?
