to response below - if you read the lterature, there have been many studies documented in psychologial journals pertaining to the positive affects of exercise on mental well-being and depression. no one is pretending that exercise fits or fixes all - severe depression affects basic daily routine, without trying to add exercise. but, if someone can get exercising, it may help, personally, you shouldnt discredit something without being aware of all the facts,
more and more exercise is needed each day to achieve the same buzz.
It's demeaning to allude to a lack of effort or "not trying hard enough" to people with depressive illnesst. There are millions of carers and families who have daily experience of living with someone with these REAL physiological conditions.
I guess all those who committed suicide just needed a brisk walk and a vitamin injections.
tmedication doesnt suit everybody. it has many negative side effect of which exercise does not. igonring alternative interventions=shortsighted

Blissful ignorance = dislocation from reality.

Exercise or die....I've never known a physically fit man to suffer from depression. It works miracles for depression and anxiety!

It is very true. Exercise not only helped me to beat depression but also kept me sane. I think that it improved my intelligence to a certain extent.
