@LiLSiCk916 so what if he's a two time champ? Sam Jones is a 10 time champ, does that make him better than MJ?
Gasol isn't a bad player he's one of the best post-players in the league. But do you think he can compare to MVP winners like Duncan, KG, and Dirk? He was important in the Lakers title runs, but he didn't lead them like Tim Duncan did.
You know what else? Why the FUCK are we talking about Gasol when were supposed to be talking abt the future. He's 31 yrs old, he aint the future.
@GLUDI0 the only player you mentioned who's actually a superstar even near the level of Timmy, KG, and Dirk is Howard. Bynum is wayyy to injury-prone to ever realize his full potential. Noah has basically no offensive game. Gasol, is simply not good enough. He's okay, but he's not at their level.
@GLUDI0 I know they are all good but... its like the nba without kobe, or ray allen or kidd, yes there are others just as good as them but its hard to see the greats be replaced.
@GLUDI0 those players arent GREAT NBA players like Duncan, Dirk and KG though. Except Howard, hes not great right now but in time he will be. Hes just lucky theres not allot of good NBA big men in the league like there used to be back in the day.
I love Tim Duncan's game and professionalism; the greatest power forward and one of the best players of all time.....can someone please make another one that doesn't have the gayest music known to man????????????
Mannn can someone answer this? Why has seemingly his career been so short? I mean he came into the league 98-99, yet by what 8 years in he was already starting to drop off? That seems about right for someone like VC who's game relies on athleticism, but since Timmy is built on fundamentals, shouldnt that mean his game should last 15 solid seasons perhaps? Curious..
He's a big tall man, over the past few years the knees and back has been and off and on problem, unfortunately. He also doesn't take steroids or anything like that. Haha.
Timothy Theodore "Tim" Duncan (born April 25, 1976)[1] is a Virgin Islander American professional basketball player for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 6-foot 11-inch (2.11 m), 255-pound (116 kg)[2] power forward/center is a four-time NBA champion, two-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA Finals MVP, and NBA Rookie of the Year.
Tim Duncan, one of the best college players ever, goes to the NBA, 4 championships, 3 finals MVPs, 2 season MVPs, all-star team almost every year, all-nba, all-defensive first team every year. One of the top 10, if not top 5 basketball players ever.
Too bad the Spurs are failing him in the twilight of his career. He SHOULD go out with a championship or at least contend for a 5th one.
Damn, though he has lost a lot of foot speed in the last 3 yrs. Not as good as Malone in his later years.
Stats don't begin to tell Duncan's effect he had on games in his prime. I'm from Dallas, so I have been on the wrong end of his greatness too many times in the playoffs. The Spurs made sure he would touch the ball every single time they were in the half court offense. And I HATED it, because something bad would happen ,for us, almost every time. The defence would sag to him and he would either get fouled, put up a good shot or pass the ball to a shooter with a good look. So frustrating!
@erocker2020 yes Duncan in his prime made his team better. He had a dominant effect, which brought attention from the defense. That's why he is easily top 2 best PFs in NBA history. I would argue the best, KG comes to mind as well, but Duncan played the game like a big man suppose to play. The only other player that at the time that had a dominant effect as a big man was Shaq. That's why Duncan has rings, Shaq included, it's because of his play style, ability to draw defense, score half court.
It's a shame the spurs organization didn't give him a viable shot at a title during the end of his career- instead he's left to play small ball w Bonner, RJ, and overrated Parker. Completely unappreciated by that club.
@eyeswideopen86 Getting destroyed by the Grizzlies in the 1st round... not the way I wanted to see Duncan spend his twilight years at all. This sucks.
@BasketballStud99 Im not a kobe fan and I think he is the best in the league. I think Tim is the best PF of all time. Why do people try to take away from Kobe all the time I do not get it. It's the same way with Tim people try to down play his greatness

Timmy is a great player no doubt, but when Robert Horry was asked who was the greatest big man he ever played with he didn't mention Shaq or Duncan. His answer was Hakeem.
@PorterPickUp Hakeem is the greatest center of all time while Duncan is the greatest power foward ever. Duncan had ginobli & parker, shaq had kobe, hakeem really didn't have another star on his team. That's what makes his championships so impressive & is prob why Horry singled him out. It wasn't meant to diminish duncan's legacy.
@aperfectcircle2121 Drexler came in 95-Hakeem has 2 rings. 94 team doesn't have another star- so no. idk why horry said that crap maybe bc hakeem was the only one retired at the time? I prefer Duncan, he won it like Hakeem did in 2003 when Manu & Parker were not close to their primes and Robinson was on his way out so it's not like Hakeem did something Duncan couldn't.
@SamuelMoralesJr I don't understand what you are implying- Pippen and Hakeem didn't play together until 1998- Pippen never got a ring w Hakeem. Pippen was not on either rockets championship teams so again i don't understand your point.
@eyeswideopen86 actually Hakeem had a lot of good players. Drexler still had gas in his tank, and scoring around 20 points a game. Barkley was getting 15 rebounds a game. Pippen also won all-defense team with Hakeem. Hakeem didn't have all-stars, but he did have good players in Otis Thorpe. Hakeem himself was scoring close to 25 points still at that point. Don't say Hakeem never had good players.
old tim, new tim it doesn't matter; tim duncan has led the greatest team this era of the nba has ever seen, thus making him the greatest player of this era.
@Scrol1 The 2007 finals prove that. Duncans legacy will land him in the top 10 players of ALL TIME. 4+ Championships and he was the best player on every one of those teams, maybe 5 or 6 the spurs rock. Kobe will be top 3, cant argue with 5 championships that were in large part a result of Kobe's drive to win. Lebron may be within 20-30 with one championship, 10-20 with multiple. He doesn't have the killer instinct Kobe has or MJ had.
@the99drill Yep, it's bullshit. And he's not a flashy player either which doesn't help that. I remember basketball in high school, and our shitty guards would never pass to the posts. I started btw lol.
I hate how it's always about Kobe. Tim Duncan has 4 championship rings, 3 finals MVP's, two regular season MVP's, and was Rookie of the Year. Kobe Bryant has won 5 championships, 2 finals MVP's, one regular season MVP and he didn't get rookie of the year (granted he did come straight out of high school). Tim Duncan's career is really just as admirable as Kobe's. Better? Maybe. But there are really other players on the court besides the guards...
"I remember one time Kevin Garnett was mushing him, and shoving him in the face; and Tim Duncan didn't do anything, he didn't react. He just kicked Kevin Garnett's ass, and won the damn championship. You know what I'm sayin'? That's gangsta." Ron Artest.

Tim Duncan is not a PF because he's almost 7'0 ft tall a required height for a center and he's body is built for a center..,and he also played center often times when their center is not around that's why i'm not regarding him as a PF ,malone is a true Power Forward.
lol, of course he played center when there was no other center around, he's been their defensive anchor for the past 10 years, year after year after year you heard about San Antonio's defense. Why? It's because Tim Duncan was such a beast! Just go ahead and look at KG back in his prime, he would guard MULTIPLE positions, from forwards to guards, why? Because he was their best defender. Duncan's not just a post player either, he's one of the best jump shooting big men ever.
baby the spirit of the emotion dont wont let me feel devotion and every day i always love you /baby so let me see the fire gonna step a little higher and every day i keep on moving
Clutch, light on his feet, can post up at will, TALL, hyperathletic, strong, drama free, phenomenal rebounder, long arms, good shot blocker, leader on and off the court.
i play basketball myself at power forward position . tim duncan is my ideal . he does not do any fancy stuff . he gets the job done and gets it done good .. :)

someone should make technology to keep people like Tim Duncan, KG, Dirk, Kobe, Lebron etc young forever so they can always be in the NBA cause I don't who will replace these guys once they retire.
@spurs2232 dont worry. we have started the rebuild process inside of our dominate playoff team. Hill, blair, spliter, anderson, temple, Gee, & neal. we are not going to be left to die like twolves were when KG left and now the cavs.
@Elmaln I never was much of a Jordan fan, I thought Reggie was just more fun to watch. Plus Reggie fits my list better than Jordan, no disrespect to Jordan though.
@sweetfeet3 fair enough, don't get me wrong I loved Reggie's game but I don't think they're even close which is why I was surprised. That being said Reggie is still great. =)
@gholwiih I like Kidd he is a better passer than Payton, i just like Payton's defense and I think Payton, Pippen, and Reggie on a fast break would be crazy.
Charles Barkley, #1 PF of all time, and he didn't have to be 6'11 to do his shit.
Tim duncan is possibly one of the LEAST impressive players to watch play basketball. Barkley was just agression/power in 1. Dunking on everyone, and snatching rebounds over the weak ass 6'11- 7ft + centers n forwards when he was just 6'5
@UkuleleSlowJamz It's about numbers though. Duncan has two ring and two MVPs. Barkley has one MVP and no rings. You can argue about who had who on their teams but it's a team sport. Also, Barkley praises Duncan all the time. Listen to his commentary. He always praises Duncan. You don't have to look impressive to win. I will give you this, NO player has ever gived as much effort day in and day out as Barkley. Wade my be the closest.
@thespian37 True, Well Honestly. I put Barkleys Lack of rings down to the people he was surrounded by, you are right, basketball is a team game, not a solo effort, if he was in a team that was at ring standard, he would have had multiple rings im assuming. its true, you dont have to be impressive to win, but that is one of the reasons barkley is one of my fave players, because of his agression/power/ ability.
@UkuleleSlowJamz You're right. Phoenix in '93 was his best shot for a ring, but Jordan broke his heart on that one. Broke a lot of hearts. That team had the most talent, but Barkley and KJ had the only playoff experience. Chicago had all the experience. In Houston, him, Hakeem, and Clyde were too old. If that team had been together five years previous, then NO ONE would've been able to stop them. He would have gotten at least two to three rings. I agree with you on his aggression/power/ability.
@UkuleleSlowJamz tim duncan's game is NOT supposed to be flashy. he plays by the fundamentals. he excels at his post game. he plays good defense, and i don't know about you, but i love his bank shot. that's sticking to the basics and getting it done. he's one of the most consistent 20-10 guys, so he can definitely produce. his championships and mvp's speak for that.
@UkuleleSlowJamz Barkley is a defensive liability, and didn't always play strong defense. Tim Duncan is ranked 11th in all time blocks, there is no PF who is ranked higher. Blocked shots are dominated by centers, because of where they stand, they stand in the center, that is why they are called centers. Overall Duncan was a better player. KG, and Duncan are the best PFs the game has produced.
timmy made his mark in NBA history and has proved the most fundamental big man ever! and he worked years 13 seasons of his ass off and has beed under rated cuz he is not flashy and show boat but TIM DUNCAN IS THE GREATEST BIG MAN EVER TRUE NBA FANS KNOW THIS
Obviously we all arent happy with this music, so here's what I did, and it made this vid beast. Mute the sound here of course, then on a new tab, find a vid for : 300 violin orchestra. I cant link you in this comment, it wont let me. But its by far the BEST basketball bgm there is.

One they gives LeBron 2 Mvps... are they trying to put him in the same rank/cathegory than Tim Duncan?... LeBron is nothing in front of duncan.
Scrol1 11 months ago
@Scrol1 The 2007 finals prove that. Duncans legacy will land him in the top 10 players of ALL TIME. 4+ Championships and he was the best player on every one of those teams, maybe 5 or 6 the spurs rock. Kobe will be top 3, cant argue with 5 championships that were in large part a result of Kobe's drive to win. Lebron may be within 20-30 with one championship, 10-20 with multiple. He doesn't have the killer instinct Kobe has or MJ had.

Spurs should make this thing called 'Dunking with Duncan", and it's him dunking on people.
undergroundskeet 1 year ago

Tim Duncan is not a PF because he's almost 7'0 ft tall a required height for a center and he's body is built for a center..,and he also played center often times when their center is not around that's why i'm not regarding him as a PF ,malone is a true Power Forward.
ladyvince10 1 year ago
@ladyvince10 so i guess Magic Johnson should not be considered a point guard because he was too tall...stupid ignorant statement you made.
Allistar123 1 year ago
@ladyvince10
lol, of course he played center when there was no other center around, he's been their defensive anchor for the past 10 years, year after year after year you heard about San Antonio's defense. Why? It's because Tim Duncan was such a beast! Just go ahead and look at KG back in his prime, he would guard MULTIPLE positions, from forwards to guards, why? Because he was their best defender. Duncan's not just a post player either, he's one of the best jump shooting big men ever.

I cannot think of a more ideal power forward.
Clutch, light on his feet, can post up at will, TALL, hyperathletic, strong, drama free, phenomenal rebounder, long arms, good shot blocker, leader on and off the court.
He has NO holes.

Charles Barkley, #1 PF of all time, and he didn't have to be 6'11 to do his shit.
Tim duncan is possibly one of the LEAST impressive players to watch play basketball. Barkley was just agression/power in 1. Dunking on everyone, and snatching rebounds over the weak ass 6'11- 7ft + centers n forwards when he was just 6'5
UkuleleSlowJamz 1 year ago
@UkuleleSlowJamz It's about numbers though. Duncan has two ring and two MVPs. Barkley has one MVP and no rings. You can argue about who had who on their teams but it's a team sport. Also, Barkley praises Duncan all the time. Listen to his commentary. He always praises Duncan. You don't have to look impressive to win. I will give you this, NO player has ever gived as much effort day in and day out as Barkley. Wade my be the closest.
thespian37 1 year ago
@thespian37 True, Well Honestly. I put Barkleys Lack of rings down to the people he was surrounded by, you are right, basketball is a team game, not a solo effort, if he was in a team that was at ring standard, he would have had multiple rings im assuming. its true, you dont have to be impressive to win, but that is one of the reasons barkley is one of my fave players, because of his agression/power/ ability.
UkuleleSlowJamz 1 year ago
@UkuleleSlowJamz You're right. Phoenix in '93 was his best shot for a ring, but Jordan broke his heart on that one. Broke a lot of hearts. That team had the most talent, but Barkley and KJ had the only playoff experience. Chicago had all the experience. In Houston, him, Hakeem, and Clyde were too old. If that team had been together five years previous, then NO ONE would've been able to stop them. He would have gotten at least two to three rings. I agree with you on his aggression/power/ability.
thespian37 1 year ago
@UkuleleSlowJamz tim duncan's game is NOT supposed to be flashy. he plays by the fundamentals. he excels at his post game. he plays good defense, and i don't know about you, but i love his bank shot. that's sticking to the basics and getting it done. he's one of the most consistent 20-10 guys, so he can definitely produce. his championships and mvp's speak for that.
david1299 1 year ago
@UkuleleSlowJamz Barkley is a defensive liability, and didn't always play strong defense. Tim Duncan is ranked 11th in all time blocks, there is no PF who is ranked higher. Blocked shots are dominated by centers, because of where they stand, they stand in the center, that is why they are called centers. Overall Duncan was a better player. KG, and Duncan are the best PFs the game has produced.
