i wish they did more examples. coming from a potohari family but being born and raised in canada, it is fascinating and helps me understand why few of my sikh and other punjabi friends understand my "punjabi" lol
@liviti So many Indian sikhs speak it too! LOL we're friends with a Sikh family, and my aunti (aka my mum's friend!) was brought up in Delhi and they'd speak in Lahori Punjabi. But her mum phoned her from India one day and she started speaking Potohari Punjabi to her! My mother just about fainted haha! Apparently her family came from Jhelum pre-partition!

Hmm, my folks are from near Rawalpindi (Kallar Syedan/Choha Khalsa) and we'd say it more like the first guy (us-aan ooder gain sian) from Mirpur rather than the last guy from Pindi ... that's Potohari/Mirpuri then.
In gujranwala both asi and asan are used depending on the structure of the sentence. Similarly both ending si and saan are also used agian depending upon the nature of the sentence.
Thanks. Pakistanis have very sweet Punjabi. One question for Pakistani Punjabis: Can a person from Rawalpindi understand the Punjabi of someone from Multan?
what the fuck, you stupid paki's have ruined our language. in punjabi you say aasi uthe gaye si, and thats it, all other variations are pakis bullshit.
umm, you must be the most ignorant person on youtube. What do you mean "our language", there are more Punjabis in Pakistan than anywhere else in the world. Don't forget that Sikhs are a minority in the Punjabi community, most Punjabis are Muslim.
There is no major difference, the difference they are trying to show is not necessarily accent difference, it is also grammatically different. Like saying "assi othey gaye si" .. or ... "assi othe gaye saaN"... etc.
ismailkhan guy has weird accent, never heard before, all others are friendly. If you go to the Lajpat Nagar and Malviya Nagar parts of New Delhi, they sound like the first guy and the Rawalpindi guy. When I went there for the first time, I was surprised to hear that accent. Elsewhere in Punjab in India, its like the second and the second-last guy. I'll add one more to this, Gurdaspur: "ahhee uthe gaye hee". (I'm not a Gurdaspuria)
Not really, the dialects from Lahore, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sialkot, and Gujrat have always been similar to those from Amritsar and Gurdaspur. These are the standard Punjabi dialects.
Absolutely wrong, there is a distinct accent that is prevalent in gujranwala/wazirabab/gujrat/western part of sialkot. Accents spoken in easter parts of sialkot near india border is more similar to jammu accent and differs remarkably than that in western part of sialkot. Amritsar/gurdaspur you speak punjabi with indian accent and have nothing to do with any native accent spoken in pakistan.

I live in gujranwala, I know 10000 times better than you about how people in gujranwala and surrounding districts like gujrat and sialkot speak. What the fuck amritsar and gurdaspur has to do with our area. Do you even have been to the villages of gujranwala, gujrat, wazirabad or western parts of sialkot. I can tell a lahori or kasuri just from his accent, so if their accent is like us gujranwala/gujrat/wazirabad then why the hell we can identify lahoris immediately just from their accent.
i agree with u, in pak diferent areas have different accents, like we jhelumis would say ........ "asi othe gaye saan", but some migrant from kashmir in jhelum mix potohari punjabi accent in it.
