The law doesn't say a woman can't cover her hair, just that she can't cover her face. It's no more anti-Islamic than a ban on wearing a ski mask when you enter a bank. There is no law against wearing a veil in the majority of the free world, if a woman chooses to wear it that is her choice. If the French choose to ban an item of clothing and enforce a national dress code, then it is a good idea for those French women who cannot live with that new narrow dress code to leave France...I hope it will impact on France economically, as the trade of the rich Arabs will be welcome in many luxury boutiques across the world. The law doesn't say a woman can't cover her hair, just that she can't cover her face. It's no more anti-Islamic than a ban on wearing a ski mask when you enter a bank. If I'm a police officer, I do not want citizens walking around whose faces can't be identified and therefore could be perfectly disguised criminals. It's simply a public safety issue.

During Taliban rule, the women were supposed to cover their faces whenever they went out. They imposed it in Afghanistan on the premise of it being an Islamic state and thus should follow Islamic law. But France and other European countries are secular states, meaning personal believes and freedom cannot be controlled by the government.
This ban is unsecular and also against the freedom of personal expression, for which most of the West is a Champion.
