I was working in FM radio when Pioughd was current, and fought like hell to get this added as a hitbound single. It was a nearer thing than you think: I failed because at the time we couldn't be sure the word "butthole" was safe for broadcast. I did get "Head On" by the Pixies added, but I couldn't get it over to our listeners--they preferred Warrant and Ugly Kid Joe.

I loved butthole surfers for their strangeness, their intensity, and comedy. But this cover blew me away. One of the greatest covers I've ever heard. I never thought a Surfer's song could sound beautiful-Apologies to Donovan fans, but I graduated in the early 90's. I'm sure I'd be offended by myself if I grew up in the 60's. By the way, Gov't Mule did a great Don't Step On the Grass Sam live cover everyone should check out.
