Why so many people bashing this phone? I got it for Christmas and I have to say I love it. I used to be an iphone user back when the iphone 3g came out and hardly got reception anywhere I went. I am way more satisfied with this phone then I ever was with the iphone and I don't care what people say regarding the iphone having apps, from my experience with the droid, it's got probably just as many apps and not as many shitty ones like the iphone had.

The phone doesn't support hands free Bluetooth voice dialing commands from an external device like an earpiece, speakerphone, or automobile. It seems that the Google operating system doesn't support that. When I discovered that I returned the piece of junk to Verizon. My old Moto K1M works just fine. The media outlets are ignoring that glaring feature omission in their reviews unless it's brought to their attention.

@criticaboutvids theres obviously a lot you can do with the droid thats not mentioned in this 1:40 sec vid, so if you want to see examples of apps and stuff check out other videos or one of the many droid forums; my favorite is droidforums . net

It really is a great phone, but it's definitely not as noob-friendly as the iphone, you sort of get out of it what you put in. The only real limiting factor is that as far as I know it doesn't currently work outside of North America.

That is your opinion. I think it looks very sharp. Its a sleek dark METAL case with a large high res display. My ONLY aesthetic complaint is the 2 small gold accents. I would have preferred them be gun metal. but overall i think it is sharp!

I can not wait to get this phone. I am so happy I stayed with verizon instead of going to At&t. Plus Apple contract ends next year and the Iphone will more that likely go to Verizon so they are killing the competition on many levels. That was a good move for Alltel to hook up with Verizon.

I dont. I read from cnn and some other places that apple and verizon are working on a 4g and an iphone lite. Dont forget the iphone was asked to be on verizons network first not At&t. They would gain over 80 thousand customers which means a bigger fan base to buy new phones.

Not to forget the virtual keyboard hasnt improved even with a bigger screen size, i expected to find more spaces between 'characters" just like the iphone but this did not happen.

The screen isn't as wide as the iPhone's because it has a 16:9 aspect ratio (the same as most HDTVs) whereas the iPhone has a 1.5:1 aspect ratio.

This mapping software and Google-Apple fallout could be a big threat to the Iphone and Apple (and MS) in general. The PC is making way for mobile cloud computing. Apple was brilliant in seeing that first but Google has more potential. Seeing as the Internet is key to cloud computing and Google is the internet king. Apple could for example compete with Google maps (and even improve with traditional offline map storage, which AT&T is gonna need).

However the core of the navigation app is Google's immense information assets in maps, sattelites, street views and most of all ir's (smart) search algorithm and information database as well as it's ad business model. The incredible voice recognition software relies on this and so does everything else. There's no way Apple could copy that, MS is trying with Bing and live but it takes immense effort for incremental gains. I don't see Apple opening that can of worms.

I love how every feature from the iphone has been implimented into nw phones. Apps store, double tap to zoom, swipe, etc. Just shows you how great the iphone is. This does look like a great phone though. Props motorola. Now only if it gets good service. Motorola was never one to do that on verizon, hopeuflly it lives up to its hype.

this is a google experience phone, so verizon isn't allowed to disable any os features. you can bet on verizon either disabling wifi and navigation on non-experience android phones in the future, or moving to limited high price data packages to compensate.

Nobody can deny that (though I would still put Jeff Hann as the great innovator). However the new Google navigator is a killer app the Iphone lacks. Also I think a divergence in Google software between Apple and Google works to Google's advantage. IE Apple needs Google more than Google needs Apple (Google doesn't need Apple at all).
