@pizzaworkout This is old school death metal. It's much more violent at heart than "modern" death metal, raw and unpolished, just plain cruel but still human. Same goes for black metal. This is not to say that modern bands are not violent, they are, but they have dehumanized the whole concept so that it comes out pretty harmless.

Hmm I might understand why some got disappointed .The musicality of this album is good but the production and vocal performance sure needed to to evolved more to a heavy snare like on the rest of BT's records,not too bad though

Great song, but I have to say that Dave Ingram, how great he was and still is, is no real replacement for Karl Willets. I´m really glad Karl rejoined in 2004 and recorded Those once loyal with the band and still is the voice of Bolt Thrower. Actually the one and only voice for Bolt Thrower.

I think some Boltthrower fand didnt like this album because it has a much more crisp sound to it then other releases...however I think this album..sounds fantastic...and has a old school feel about it that you just dont hear anymore.

I appreciate the honesty. I wonder though if you really "don't like" this album or just don't like it as much as their others. It still melts more faces than most "metal" you hear nowadays. As far as seeing them live I think you'll just have to look them up on youtube and watch some of their recorded works, I'm pretty sure they have disbanded.

@godnostar It i one of their weakest attempts, drums are too thin tho well preformed, Ingram's vocals is the main problem, he dos'nt have a decent growl vocal, his vocal work in Benediction f.ex Grindbastard shows, how well he can preform and where his vocals lifts the songs.. Should i rank BT's albums they would look like this: For Victory Those Once loyal Mercenary 4th Crusade Realm of Chaos Warmaster HVP In Battle....

It has the best Bolt Thrower riffs.

The vocals are great, too.

Inside the Wire , 7th Offensive . These songs alone should make into at least 3rd rank.

Well this is how i rank my fave band, i like all the tracks on almost all albums, but HVP has some flaws i dont find in their other albums.

What albums we might prefer in BT's discography, also depends on when we started listening to this band, and ones other metal preferences.

Eventho BT has their way of playing, they have made some changes through the years, some good some not so good..

I'll be quite honest, I don't really like Honour, Valour, Pride. Basically just because I saw it as a step backwards in Bolt Thrower's musical style. It wasn't nearly as dark and crushing as Mercenary or For Victory. I did however enjoy the song 7th Offensive. I desperately want to see them live sometime.
