  • thanks 4 advice

  • i do feel like this wisdom comes once you've left high school for a while...i feel like when you're still in there it's so hard to believe that after high school a lot of the things you prioritized the drama, the popularity, the cliques become so irrelevant and meaningless. i only learned this once i left.

  • I'm just interested in talking about this cause I feel what you're talking about. Completely agree with you that we all should just be ourselves and that too many people around are just wearing a mask to fit in. Really curious why you didn't fit in in high school and what you did to "scare everyone off". As for me, I think I've been and still am living an identity crisis. Anyway, I'm probably creeping you out leaving these huge blocks of text on your video feed. See you around. - JC

  • I guess partly I'm agreeing with "kvntr92" - The pretty and talented usually have an advantage socializing and more chances to show off their inner-awesomeness. But hey sorry, I'm not saying you're lying or anything, I guess I was just really hoping you could give me a reply back (hopefully through a reply here or via YouTube messages [That'd be awesome!]) filling in the blanks. (Not sure if you'll even read this though.)

  • Hi Arden, today marks the day I finally got around to checking out your channel/videos. (All my pals love you and I'm now not surprised why) Anyway, this is your 4th video I watched (first one being the skit) and I honestly have to say, I find it pretty difficult to believe that you were an oddball (well shit, everyone's an oddball) - popular - in high school. I mean, not to be shallow or anything, but you ARE quite the package. (Amazing singer/actress, beautiful, [don't know much as of now])

  • Put this out as a PSA.

  • im in high scu lol

  • How do you not fit in? weren't you a cheerleader? from my experience, all the girls in cheer-leading were all popular, even those didn't really stand out were still known by pretty much the entire school

  • I think what you felt was normal for a high school student but I am glad someone gave them good advice! your always doing that though it seems xD

  • I wish I heard this in grade 9.

  • I finished high school this year :D

I was never popular and i knew i would never be popular so i was just myself and did what i wanted regardless of what anyone said and i had not great but an okay time at school :)

  • i'm impress , i think it just change my mind of my next highschool life, thks

  • Hey Arden I really hope you see this. I recently saw a picture of you with super junior. I posted a picture on you wall and I hope we can communicate through there and YouTube. So how was it to meet them? I really hope you saw this. To all those elf's out there who are reading this like this comment so maybe we can have Arden see this

  • Woah you look like Bora from SISTAR in koreas girl band. I just realised :D

  • That's funny how you didn't find yourself in highschool, but I found you in highschool.

  • you're so sweet. i'm a freshman in high school. i'm taking your advice, thank you Arden!!! <3

  • Be-YOU-tiful.

  • Dang I'm a Junior right now at the number one high school in California and number 3 in the whole US, WHITNEY HIGH SCHOOL! It's gonna be the hardest academic year of my life. Arden come visit us here! You have a huge fan base here!

  • thank you

  • i love you.

  • If you had the opportunity to repeat high school to do things differently, you wouldn't be the wonderful person who you are today. No regrets, you are great the way you are.

  • this is gonna help me. only if i have the courage to use it thought ^ ^

good point you make there. high school isnt about fitting in. make it about being who you are! hope i can turn it around as a senior.

  • I don't try to fit in but sometimes my life can be like a pain in the ass....

  • I was definitely "on my own" in high school. When I went to the ten year reunion, a guy i had sat next to in class referenced a party he'd had and I said "I wasn't there." He said, "Really? Why not?" I said "i wasn't invited." He said "Everyone was invited." And this captured my entire realization from the reunion: There are many more doors open to you than you realize, often you are the one closing them with your own insecure assumptions - or maybe it's you excluding them.

  • Freshman! ...in college ;D

  • FRESHMAN!!! just getting started with this BS...

  • Is it cold in there?

.....beeeecause the lens keeps fogging up and not....nevermind.

oh....and like the other dude said david so brought me here!

  • I want to marry someone like you. Man if I were 7 yrs older i propose.

  • Well I can only speak for myself but at my school no ones really popular or unpopular, were all just equal :)

  • lol i just graduated and i don't miss it at all cause all kids do nowadays is smoke, drink, and party. Not my kinda thing being the good kid who gets good grades.... I opted out and took college classes for free instead and hung out with the college crowd junior and senior year. Much better in my opinion :D And i'm ahead of everyone right out of the gate!!

  • asian girls that looks like arden make my self esteem go down...

  • :) awesome comments!!!

  • How beautifull it is to work just with your beauty... What a nice life

  • THUMBS UP IF DAVIDSOCOMEDY BROUGHT YOU HERE!!!

  • yeah right you're hot everybody liked you

  • I only discovered my true self after having graduated from highschool. Most of my good friends are from highschool - we all grew up - and my new entourage and life helped me find my true self. Now that I think back on my highschool life, I feel stupid to have tried to be someone else. That being said, I am all on your side Arden.

  • Ur so pretty! ^_^

  • ur so beautiful<3

  • I hung out with 2 shrulankans and a phillipino but I didn't giv a damn what people thought that's why I went out of my way to were something crazy (eg yellow jeans mini dress that looked like a like a little ball gown ect) to every dance

  • I just graduated last year from High School and I hated it, I was the only asian in a white class and everyone was bullying me at the start of my first high school year (that is a really bad starting) especially because I have zero confidence. Anyways now i'm done with that I can move on.

I'm happy you told us your high school experience :) This is inspiring for people going to high school ^^ and not only these people!

  • thanks arden (: this is just what i needed and i can happily say that im not going to bother "fitting in" anymore , im going to live for myself ! who cares what the cool cats think ..

  • Thanx now ill stop trying to fit in and be myself. Until this day i have been trying really hard because me and friend are the only asians in the class! :(

  • your right i should stop trying to fit in and just be my self. thnx Arden, being popular was never something i desired but something i would have liked. but i am who i am. i should just be my self.

  • YEAH SCREW THE POPULAR KIDS.

  • ); that speech was so emotional LoL

  • Well put Arden. I felt the same way also.

  • well tis shit doesn't happen in Asia. Not tat i wanna be stereotype, but yea.. Americans(not all, but most) are crazy bout all tat status quo stuff. it's juz stupid..who cares bout whether u're at d top of d food chain or not?! stop thinkin being cool will gain all d respect u want, that's just plainly childish.. u'll only gain true respect when u start giving & not taking from others.. and u peeps who think u're down there, get over with urself! Be who u are, n the rest will fall into place..

  • Can we be best friends if we were still in hs? Lol. great advice as always!!

  • STORY OF MY LIFE. lucky im out of that already! :D

  • if i was myself in school, i would be like the "weird" kid haha, that's why i can't be my 'true' self really...

  • I wish I could do elementary school again. Happiest time of my life. Highischool life sucks

  • @EpicPawnage AGREED!

  • It must be exhausting to try to be someone else all the time

  • It's depressing to realize I'm in my last year of Middle School. ><

  • after hearing you words i really wanna be "myself" but ive never been the independent type. like i dont like being alone. i find it .. lonely? i like to be surrounded by people so in school im always smiling and laughing but at home. .. im a grumpyy teenager. (although i am in school too but youknow...)

  • highschool... basketball player, star gazing club and glee club. Life was a simplier then. -_-

  • I'm at high school, and i think it isn't as wonderful as ppl said. Kinda bad actually.but thanks for your advice, maybe tht's the hardest thing for me to do..

  • same with college, only no more drugs and more studying.

  • high school was awesome; countless nights of free spirited sex, drinking, drugs and partying.

  • agreed!

  • I love your flying kiss sign off in your videos ::swoon::

  • I don't remember ever having that problem... of course belgium has a different school system. there were 300 or so people in my year and I got along with every one of them and i wasn't exactly what you call a cool kid.

  • @NapalmSV I never really had that too.. I'm from The Netherlands and I think we are in general too down to earth to believe in these levels of popularity.

  • I love you girl :]

  • you must be the prettiest asian i know

  • and....and....and...and.....

  • I guess its just the high school catyness (haha is that even a word?) well there are those people who crave for the popularity and make judgements about others even though they dont even know who they are. They're the kinda of people who dont have a sense of their identity and pretend to be someone theyre not. I'm learning this is english about identity and belonging 6 more weeks until I graduate Year 12 woo so excited!

  • You might think that you dont fit in but most people actually do fit in, you all share the same horror of high school!

  • omygod you're so pretty!!! :)

  • just started high school last week... soo far its trning out horrible :(

  • which carrier is better dancer or car engineer

  • So....**flips hair( 1:25 )** anyways.

    Totally agree with you!

  • The world is a big stage. The "cool kids" play a role too. You're definitely not as passive as you were growing up.

  • well said Arden

  • 2 weeks into college and i miss highschool already

I was pretty popular in my high school. nearly every1 in my grade and half of the class below knew me. but only b/c i acted like myself and was open to every1. i dont try to fit in or anything. hell, nearly all my friends drinks or smokes, & i dont, & they all know that i dont and are chill about it. i was popular not b/c i was like every1 else, but because i was myself. those who try too hard to be popular or fit in usually dont get there

  • god i love you so much

  • I hated High School! But if I was given a chance to re-do it I would totally go back.

  • I'm a freshman now. Hopefully I can make great friends and amazing memories throughout these 4 years, as shy as I am... BUT HEY, I'm joining cross country tomorrow, so that's a start xD

  • look forward! all the best :))

  • I like you Arden Cho! Very encouraging words i may show my high school students :)

  • Awwww !

  • WAT!! how were u the odd one out???!!!

  • thank you(:

  • I miss my high school days....i miss my friends....i was so quite before but not always....i make my friends laugh sometimes I'm not that boring person...I'm now in College....first year -____-

  • Puberty and peer pressure make things confusing. Best of luck to everyone!

  • What the hell? Who would've thought Arden was the odd one? High school was wack indeed, but Im grown and in college now so its ancient history lol

  • ima go eat food now, bye. LOOL

  • I can relate. High school for me was like hell. Girl fights from time to time. "plastic" moments with some friends and friend pressure and stuff. Thanks for sharing ur thoughts.

  • I hear stories about kids fitting in, but for me I really don't care. I don't care about fitting in and I don't care what other people think of me. I just usually go from group to group and just talk to everyone in each of them and I never was stuck to a group. I hope that kids in high school, like me, can embrace themselves and learn to love themselves and feel confident in their skin. :)

  • You would post this video after I graduated lol

  • I never got the concept of popularity or conforming into one social group, our school pretty much has a lot of that and social division! I reckon school should just be a collaboration of individuals who share thoughts and enjoy moments together. I'm happier knowing myself than fitting in, and people accept me for who I am :) I guess, if you love yourself it'll reflect in other people's view of you :)

  • My first day of junior year is tomorrow! Wish all girls could see this vid :)

  • Werent you a cheerleader in hs?

  • are u busy now i dont see u make video that much anymore will u and peachies make videos again

  • She's too pretty to not fit in.

  • same thing for college too. you don't need to "fit in" and go to parties and pretend to be who you're not. just take this time to find out who you are, what you like, and and be who you are and go after whatever it is you like :)

  • arden, i feel the same way about high school! glad to know that us oddballs are not alone :)) i kinda still dont know who i am but at least its a little better than in high school ahah @.@

  • OMG! I'm so glad I watched this Video, cause I'm going to high school in 2 days. Thanks to you I'm going to try to be myself, instead of trying to fit in. =)

  • SENIOR!!! almost done with this shit hole...

  • I knw of only one in LA.

Were u filming at Marlborough all girls private HS?

  • Agreed.

  • You should show us a picture of your high school self. :D

  • Totally agree with you, I hated the fact everyone would try to fit in just to be popular. And I believe everyone is/has/will get in the same boat with you Arden, we all have a problem trying to find our "true" selves. Even if you don't find your true selves in high school, you are late bloomers <3

-quote(Mulan) - My, what beautiful blossoms we have this year. But look, this one's late. But I'll bet that when it blooms, it will be the most beautiful of all.

  • Arden makes my day. thanks. I'm quite the outcast in high school right now

  • Hi Arden :) I hope you have another follow your heart soon when you have time byebye

  • my cousins went to school with you APPLE VALLEY REPRESENT!! :)

  • well said :) I would say same goes for everyone else even if they're not in high school whether middle school or going into college.

But with all that said, it's hard to pin-point who you are. Sometimes you have to find out what you are not first to truly know who you are.

  • i miss high school too =(

  • I didn't have friends in highschool.

  • I'd so marry you.

  • i gave up trying to fit in. Now i have friends who actually care for me and i can be myself around. high school is so much better now

  • @ardenBcho Thanks for the helpful and great advice, Arden! ^_^

  • well i am did fine during my high school year, i'd a friends who have the same interest as me (playing games lol, typical asian(?) ikr xD ) ..but then i my parent took me oversea and told me that i am going to stay here. bam! that was a big blow to me. language barrier is the biggest obstacle and i find it super hard to talk to stranger. and the kids at my high-school here are pretty racist

  • Class of 2012!!! Time to rock seniority!! Thumbs u if you're a senior!

  • I cannot believe you were not popular?

  • in order to gain self confidence and high esteem, and having the guts to embrace MYSELF, i pray. I ask God for that boldness to be able to step out and do things my way. Also, i pray to be different as a believer, and not just do the things everyone else is doing.

EVERYONE, LETS TRY TO REVV THIS GENERATION BACK AROUND! dont follow the crowd, step out and do what you know is right! Also, be YOURSELF. Stay strong in God, enjoy life, but always remember this world is just our TEMPORARY home!=)

  • anything for us post secondary students? :)

  • Just started high school today. I had a terrible first day... I finally came on YT, and saw in my subscriptions that you posted a video: ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL. Really, you just made me think different and I'm totally gonna try to change my thought, and I'm the outcast too [being Asian doesn't always help... -__- ASIAN PRIDE STILL<3] You're gorgeous Arden, and just want to thank you for this video!

  • I just started highschool today. I'll try to put your advice in action. :P thank you! (:

  • Now you tell me when it's my last year in high school lol

  • Started senior year today! Doing it big(:

  • Thanks for this :) It helped me a lot :D

  • I was like the only asian in my high school..haha just kidding. I just went to a Caucasian dominated high school. it was..wierd.

  • Aaaaaaand look at you now. Now let's pray that happens to me. Hahahahahaha XD

  • I found myself my junior year, but it was because I had a tough situation to deal with and it showed me that I am a strong, determined person with a extremely goofy and hyper alter ego :D

  • there will always be that small amount that are popular... High School like should be going crazily fun and make a memorable experience!~ People won't think back on how popular you are in future but you will be the one thinking back what have you done in High School~

  • High School only last for 4 years, life last a life time.

  • I tell my nieces and nephews no matter what they do, be a leader and not a follower. It's ok to listen but to speak loudly when the scituation calls for it. Their voice might be 1 against many but if they're in the right others will soon join them. Nice vid arden.

  • Were you high school friends with Joe Kim JDSN?

  • haha im a sophmore i wear all abercrombie and fit in with wht everyone else does. but honestly i love wearing tee's and sports but ofcourse only cool sport at my school is tennis played both years but i hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Woo! starting g12 this year. Love my friends, love what we do.

  • im not a social, but honestly i just hate racists... thats the problem i deal with a lot

  • YOU were an outcast??? o.o impossible!

  • yay!!! ARDEN IS BACK! LOVE YOU GIRL!~!!!! <33333333

    i missed you! :\

  • thumbs up if arden should show her body in a vlog

  • "Be you." Best advice ever. Of all time.

  • ugh i'm in highschool and i have time to do is think about how to get into college :(

  • i was myself in highschool, foreveralone.jpeg ensued

  • You were an outcast in high school while doing cheerleading and 태권도? Hm, I didn't think that would have been the case. This was a good, honest reflection though. I remember being a bit too individualistic in high school, seriously not giving a bleep what anyone said or did. That's also not a good way to go, haha. Keep being you, Arden. You inspire many each passing day.

  • Ur hot

  • I'm going to high school tomorrow :(

  • i graduated high school a few months ago, and despite running into the same problems as you throughout it, i honestly thought high school was the best time of my life.

  • Shitty first day of sophomore. Thanks for the upload! Guess I need to think it through.

  • my high school experience felt uneventful at the time i felt like i was doing it wrong but looking back i think it was perfect. all you need is a handfull of true friends :)

  • arden, make a video about: dear 15 yo me. or maybe dear 40 yo me.

  • going to universitytomorrow :s its like going to school for the first time again

  • I can't wait til i leave high school in a few months.

  • Freshmannn :D

  • I unusually stand out in my school. Prob bc I'm the only asian in 2000+ school haha

  • to be honest, changing and being someone you're not if part of growing up. High school is meant to be a stage in life where you actually find out who you really are. ofcourse we change, but if it werent for us changing, we wouldnt be who we are today.

  • if you think about it, every person that never fit in , at school or h/s become famous. like demi lovato, arden cho christina grimmie, katy perry, lady gaga etc.

  • new schedule hope i dont get lost

  • I never cared :P. I just did my own thing :3.

  • Being popular/fitting in in high school is totally overrated. Be who you are because chances are you're going to find someone who accepts for who you are. Even if you pretend to be something you're not and people like you, it'll eventually dawn on you that those people don't like you for you but what you pretended to be. No shame in being true to yourself.

  • @InNOut89 true that!

  • @ardenBcho Thanks for the reply, Arden. You made my day! :)

  • @InNOut89 your prob an outcast nerd in school who plays yugioh and loves doing hw huh?

  • hi beautiful =]

  • Im going to highschool in 2 days holy shit :)

  • @KevKatHEHE lucky~ enjoy it!

  • @ardenBcho I sure will . Thankyou

  • @KevKatHEHE make those years count =)

  • You look like hollyannaeree.. :)

  • @aaykumiks Ummm no, she dosen't.

  • @Is4536 Ummm yeah. She does, to me. They look alike.

  • @aaykumiks Really? Because I honestly don't see it.

  • @Is4536 Eh. Everyone's sees things differently.

  • that was really inspirational <3

  • you're freaking beautiful arden. i swear you're like my number one role model <333 i wish i can grow up to be just as positive and wise as you are because you really influence me!!! :DDD <333

  • I'm savoring it now! Too bad it all has to end eventually.

  • CUTE

  • In some angles you look like Shay Mitchell from Pretty Little Liars. xD.
