    Sounds like somewhere I should be (-;

  • ABSOLUTELY AWESOME !

  • OH I AM, SO AM SO GOD DAMN YOUNG...........

  • The essence of Rock n Roll, the bridge between Bob Dylan and the punk generation. Understood now and by future generations as a work of art.

  • What a great video !

Thank you very much for this tribute to Patti Smith and the lyrics

  • Are the pics from Maplethorpe?

This song still speaks to me 30+ years later. Wow!

    Thanks, Patti.

  • THIS SONG WAS NOT THAT GREAT WHEN IT WAS IN THE MOVIE PRIVLEGE BUT PATTI SMITH TURNED IT INTO GOLD!! SHE MADE GOLD OUT OF JUNK

  • @steeplechaserider Patti WROTE the song you fucking idiot.

  • @MrMonsterstiffy

That's a bit harsh, no? I don't think the comment was worthy of such a merciless attack ~ just a mistake like we all make from time to time. Peace.

  • @steelyman08

You're not wrong. The other poster is. Patti Smith did not write this song.

  • @MrMonsterstiffy

Patti Smith did NOT write this song. Why would you call someone a 'fucking idiot' when you don't know yourself? It's from the movie "Privilege," which came out in 1967. Patti Smith was 21 at the time and didn't even release "Horses" until 8 years later. Look at the liner notes on the record, YOU fucking idiot.

  • Goddamn,goddamn,goddamn, Here I am!!!

It don't get much powerful than that!!

  • too much is never enough steely... I post photos of my record collection mainly 45s on FB at RAY's Juke-box & look for the best video of each song represented (like this one) to post with it

  • too much is never enough steely

  • enjoyably over the top (astute reference to Rimbaud at the reference to Christ's 98 wounds)

  • Fat boy slim "steal" this? Right here right now...

  • Patti did not write this song - but she does a great job at it. By mike leander, mark london, w/ 23rd psalm

    6******

  • I love it too

  • SO RAW ,NICE

  • Patti smith embodies all rock, true rock stands for, and even though a third of what is out nowadays is awful, as long as she rallies and belts out masterpieces such as this, I shall have everlasting hope.

  • no better song, none at all. I saw her in concert in the Village a few years back a few times in a row... I was soooo blessed! Not many people really know who she is. Which I think is because she doesn't care. She is the Queen of Punk, a gentle warrior of peace and F the crap of the world. She is an Artist who works her soul, without bowing to fear. That's the real deal, the real work! She's been the greatest inspiration to me, and to others lucky enough to know her music!

  • This is my favorite song. Ever.

  • Steven Shorter / Paul Jones "Privilege" (1967)

    for the original

  • Steven Shorter / Paul Jones "Privilege" (1967)

  • nice pics of Pattie bravo 5*****<3 r!

  • She is the haert and soul of TRUE rock.

  • Patti Smith is the Goddess we worship.

  • Hail to the Queen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • now its my turn to thank you for the sharing. ;-) Very good quality

  • Easter album, great!

  • Reason to live, some Patti for Easter, thanks Jane.

  • I see what you mean. I think I'll start varying and listening to some other great female singers/composers.

  • Damn! Goddamn! Excellent pics - I'll take this with me into Lent - and hopefully make it to the other side....

  • Just can't get more frank than Patti is in this song. Frankness, another quality, which is sorely lacking - if not, entirely absent - these days. Things might not always be "pretty" but, sometimes...all too often...that's just the way they are.

  • What a powerful song! Great job on the video. Never thought - or, even imagined - I'd find myself in such dire straits and desperate circumstances as those Patti is singing about; but, here I am. No "feel good" song's gonna help me now; just those born from the depths of despair. Still...it's reassuring to know others have been there...some have even survived to tell their tales.

  • Thanks for sharing steelyman08 - I get the honour of being first to comment. lol WOW love the woman. Raw yet very spiritual. Great Post.

  • thanks
