BTW, if you could post brand/model of the P7 and other flashlights mentioned, it would be interesting to me...I'm looking for LED flashlights >500 lumens that use 18650 Li-Ion cells (ie what is used in FireSword-V). THANKS! :)
Sorry to hear you are disappointed with FireSword-V. All the issues you raised were considered:
o to prevent accidentally switching to HI mode, the jumper was chosen over requiring users to solder a bridge on the PCB (seriously, that was suggested.)
o power control of 2.8A proved to be difficult - if anyone can offer a low cost (< $20) and reliable way to do it in a tail cap, I'll buy one. :)
o CREE MC-E were a known, reliable source and less expensive than Phlatlight SST devices.
@grundlerg actually the im ok with the tail cap now, had to get used to it...now the jumper still annoys me..on neighbor hood patrol its nice to just have the low setting, and then to switch to high to investigate thing, but unscrewing the lens fiddle with a jumper that reguires pliers unless you small fingers is annoying
my P7 flashlight is rated 900 lumen...but its not, more like 5-600 lumen, but can be had on deal extreme or 35 bucks...you dont get the best binned p7 for that price though
i see the firesword listed for 400$ machining the body cant be that expensive, the board and electronics either....so isnt there room for a more expensive/more powerful led?
dont get me wrong the firesword is a nice flashlight, just expected more for such an expensive flashlight, but it looks like it can take a beating which is nice when your not allowed to carry a gun
ohh and my p7 that costs 35 bucks runs on a 18650 lipo too just a single one
@BBQNinja i dont know....but it is a firesword-V....kind of disapointed....for a nutty flashlight like this i would have expected more....at least a tail cap that could adjust the power, instead you have to unscrew the lens and move a jumper....would have like to see sst-50 or 90 used instead of the cree...3000 lumen is a lot....but more is always welcome
@HerresKoolaid it is !!! LOL,it is imensely powerful, but at 400$ its a bit steep had it not been a gift from my work i would not have gotten it,even though i love flashlights and have tons of them,if you want powerful but cheap consider the Fandyfire 3000 lm from dealextreme its not 3000 lumen probably some where around 2200 lm, but its 45 bucks shipped has 5 modes, and theres now a version that takes more than two batteries which i would recommend...for self defence i choose the firesword :-)

@CygnusX250 Oh.....that explains it. I thought it was a malfunction of the lens from the intensity of the flashlight
