Does it have its own software? or u can use it as a midi controller for softwares such as MAX DSP etc etc ? Sorry, but i just don't understand how it works!
yeah ummmmm the table is just another device for interaction or control of/with sound, same as any other instrument or computer. it doesn't do anything new. it is just a far more intuitive metaphor. better than drag and drop or code, like, to use your example, a violin
It's only a matter of time until someone masters the Reactable and creates a symphony on it. To those who say it just makes noise... Well, so does an electric guitar or violin or saxophone if you don't know how to play it. This is still very new. Most of the concert videos are of people just playing around or experimenting. I've heard someone play Bach on a Theramin and it was exquisite. Just wait.
thats a very good prediction and i think a lot of people loke myself who can compose maybe can learn how to work the table and try something out. its like the instrument of the future
Heres whats wrong with your prediction. electric guitars and violins take talent and training to play. If you can just set something and have it play the music for you then its no real talent. Anything that involves a machine playing the music for you doesn't take talent. Its only when someone plays the music with their own hands that it is really "exquisite".
and here's what's wrong with your statement: It takes talent to know how a synthesizer works. This isn't playing anything for you; you need to understand waveforms, LFOs, Filters, and everything else that goes into synthesis before you can make music with it. It's not like picking up a guitar, plucking a note, and instantly being able to make music because you went from one fret to another. You really need an understand of how these things work.
Notice how people are talking through the entire performance... it's because they're bored. It's sad that such an interesting piece of technology is being wasted by talentless morons.
