  • If anyone confused about the distance really wanted to do the math, You can hear the gunshot, and then you can see when the bullet hit. All you need to do is google the velocity of your average 7.62x54r, and there you go. That's all you need to get the approx distance. Have fun.

  • Benchrests aren't to test how well YOU shoot, it's to test how well the rifle shoots taking away as many human variables as possible. Once you know how well the rifle shoots, you've eliminated any excuses and you have to bring your skill up to the rifle off the bench.

  • Would you say that your Izhevsk 1943 has typical accuracy for a rifle of that model, factory and year?

  • You people can accurately judge distance on your computer screen? Too funny

  • Not 500 yrds. Nice try. Good shooting either way.

  • That's cool

  • Not 500 yards, more like half that.

  • @Nitricthunder

its useless for me to argue with you, but i can confirm, roughly 497 yards

  • @azerious85 I think the mountain side makes the shot look deceptively closer than it really is

  • @Ben85paintball As a WWI Russian reenactor i'm just quoting what they say in the original manual. Although the WWI M91s sights are in Arshin and not Meters. Also you must take into account that they are being fired by Russian peasants.

  • Thats considered maximum effective range more or less so not bad

  • where was this video taken? Its very nice where ever it is.

  • You can see the shockwave going downrange, cool gun (I own two).

  • That's impressive! Let's see if these youtube riflemen can do better.

  • So the numbers by the adjustable iron sights indicate hundreds of meters, right? (100m-2000m)

  • @Constantine909

it is in "arshin" but pretty damn close to meters, i ran the rear sight at 450 for the blondie, and 475 for the first rifle using roughly a 7 o clock hold

  • @azerious85 Only the 1891 and Dragoon have sights calibrated in arshins (which are 28+ inches); 91/30 and all later versions are calibrated in meters, as are any older versions that were rebuilt after about 1920 (those would have been shortened and otherwise brought up to 91/30 standard, also).

  • @azerious85 The sights on 91/30's are in meters. Older 1891 models are measured in arshins.

  • nice shooting man ( for those who think this cant reach that far check your battle of stallion grad history and the fact there are many other weapons that fire the same caliber cartridge which exceed this range. )

But I wonder if you have a smaller sight post.

  • This video encouraged me to try this. I did the same thing, with the same rifle and the same distance, used Yugo surplus ammo...and i was surprised at how accurate this rifle is....the only thing i did different was shoot sitting down and used my ammo can as a crude rest for my rifle...btw 500 yards = 471 meters (knowing that made it so much easier to fix the sights on the mosin (since it is in meters)..great shooting!

  • why is it hard to believe that theres skilled shooters in this world? there are plenty of people who can shoot this good.

  • kinda cool, 1st few shots you can see the bullet wake

  • Cool video! May I make a suggestion in trying to wrap that sling around your arm tight as to prevent excess movement? I believe you should be able to more consistently hit your mark by doing this.

Anyway awesome vid though that second time around you were getting it!

But yeah good shooting still it was damn close and that is hard with iron sights at that range.

  • This is amazing. I tried open sights with my bushmaster acr enhanced with magpul flip up sights and i was able to pull of 4 out of 10 but being able to do it that well is great!

  • That is great shooting ! those people that talk trash are the ones that think they can shoot and cant make that shot. so if they cant make a shot like that no one can, they are just idiots. Anyhow i know that those rifles are really accurate, the fierst time i shot one took 4 shots at 100 yards, first shot was 1/2 inch at 6 oclock just outside bull, the next 3 shots were bull's,took 2 shots at 200 and hit 2 bull's. great firearm.

  • 2 for 3? more like 2 for 10

  • @maydayfire he was mentioning prior to the video, 3 total tries on camera, this was second

  • For 500 yards standing using a Mosin Nagant, that's some pretty damned good shooting.

  • wow cool i could see the vapor trail

  • Nice!

  • target is 3x4 which is considered man size "COM"

  • @azerious85 this is kind of hard to believe. i clocked the bullet at around 1.7 seconds. isnt that a little too fast for a 7.62 54 at 500 yds? im not saying you are a liar but it's just hard to believe that someone can shoot and make it at target with iron sights at 500 yds with a 100 year old weapon. just saying :)

  • @7xrepiv bub theres somethin called video lag....

  • @7xrepiv What does a 100Years have to do with anything? During ww1 soldiers were trained to shoot Well past this from trench to trench. The rifle sat in a Wooden box caked in oil till it was sold. You are A FAGGOT.

  • @HadesmyBoa569 Go fuck yourself, dude. That was uncalled for.

  • @ammoMtaFoY No it wasnt. Putting someone in their place when they spout Bullshit they think they know what they are talking about. I call BS.

  • @HadesmyBoa569

european army grunts were lucky to make 300yd shots in the WW1 era

only the US troops really put an emphasis on long range marksmanship.

Bellau Wood is the best example of succesful 600+ yd fire

  • nice shooting but how big is the target ?

  • there is no way that is 500 yards maybe 220 at the most

  • ok here's what ya do, since apparently i like to brag and exaggerate, get out your accurate youtube computer screen range finder and range it again ok? no reason for me to lie, 497yards ranged on me and my buddies laser rangefinders, YMMV since you were there and all. Thanks for viewing!

  • @azerious85 because cameras are always weird and make things look closer for some reason

  • @mauser3846 it is at least 450yd. listen to the shot being fired then the bullet impact

  • Nice shooting,I love those 91/30s of all my guns it's becoming my favorite to shoot,my mosin video is in the cold as well.

  • Average price of a Mosin is anywhere from $80-150, the latter being a but much for my tastes unless it is something special.

  • @azerious85 The one im getting is 197, made in 41. a bit high but its my first gun so at least i know its not a pos

  • thats cool how you can kinda see the bullet curving

  • Vapor Trail... Love it

  • @azerious85 yea, really cool gun too =P and their preatty cheap right?

  • no 450m but the rear sight is stripped on the 2nd rifle so once you fire the rifle the rear sight jumps back down to 100m, as you can tell in that shot that was like 5ft low on the second rifle.

  • Great shooting...That is very accurate using iron sights at 500yrds!!!

  • Thanks

  • so are you using the Bulgarian surplus ammo? Is the ammo you are using corrosive?

  • Yes, and Yes:-)
