I can tell you PRECISELY what an actuary is. Actuaries are overpaid boredom fighters who have managed to convince the world their predictions are based on incomprehensible mathematics when in fact the only difficult math they really ever have to face is on the exams that put them in their boring staring-at-spreadsheets-most-of-the-day jobs.
