@boutabeastar420 Well you're obviously talking about an Epiphone SG because Gibson's cheapest SG (which isn't even that great) is the Gibson SG Faded, which is $700 new. That's just about $300 short of a Fender MIA Stratocaster. The cheapest MIM Fenders go as low as ~$350.

You can't use an Epiphone to judge the Gibson line. If you could, I could use my craptastic $99 Fender Squier Strat to say that Fenders are cheap and suck.

Also CustomShop doesn't mean customized baddie. It means hand-built.

@boutabeastar420 Cheap? A custom shop VOS SG is about the same or more as a Custom Shop Les Paul. As for tone, maybe you just don't like brighter guitars? SGs emphasize the upper midrange frequencies much more than LPs since they're thinner and as such less resonant. Sustain is about the same, less wood gives the tone a bit less body.

There's nothing about them to warrant "why the hell would you show off an sg." Just cause you don't like it doesn't make it a bad guitar.

@SGawesome ok there are very few differences differences, one of the pick ups are different, and the standard has a more gloss finish and it has pickup covers with trapezoid inlays rather than dot inlays. oh and on a standard the headstock has a mother of pearl gibson logo on it, and the truss rod cover says SG on it.

those are little differences, and overall when it coves to performance and tone, they are pretty much the same guitar.

Nah, SG's stay in tune just fine. It's just matter of setting it up properly. It's the saddle that fucks up the tuning in most cases, and there is an easy way of preventing that to happen. Changing strings regularly is also a good way to keep the guitars in tune.

You definitely have the right idea. And the tones you were getting with the fingerpicked stuff were pretty sweet. Liked the lefthand positions you were throwing out there, too.

On single note stuff, try to use as light a picking touch as possible so that is sounds smoother. At loud volumes, you don't have to pluck a string very hard to get a sound, so a light touch is more efficient.

And remember, AGGRESSION!
