  • one way to to kill of any insects that might be living in your dreads is to Soak your dreads in rubbing alcohol and tie a large plastic bag over your dreads, any bag will do as long as it keeps the fumes on your head. Let your dreads soak for 30 minutes. After they soak rinse your dreads really really well. Repeat all this again in 3 days and you shouldn't see any more buggies.

  • Dreads CAN get lice. You can get rid of lice. Lice are attracted to clean hair because without your natural oil they can 'glue' themselves on to your hair stronger while nesting. Clean hair makes it easier for lice to breed. I have had lice with my dreadlocks. I did NOT shave them. Place mayonnaise on your hair and cover it think. Place a shower cap over it to not make a mess. Wait 4 hours. Wash out. Rinse hair with Apple Cider Vinegar to kill unhatched eggs.

    DREAD POWER!!!

  • i just cut mine... if you have a serious infestation.... you got to cut some of 'em or try to undone it.... these fukers won't go away.... believe me... you really need to maintain your dreadlocks... just try to prevent them....

  • hey i got rid of my lice without cutting them off i'm very clean and thats great so your wrong if you say all you can do is cut them off seems like you have no clue

  • Alright Thanks for the Info..BUT HOPE IS THERE>>> Get a small spray bottle fill it with 70% ALCOHOL rub into all your scalp making sure it's in between the locks. Put your hair in a tail then Use a plastic grocery bag to cover all your head. After 45min rinse thoroughly as you would without lice. 3 days later do it again..Wash everything in hot water n heat dry. This method I have personally use unfortunately but it works miracles! Anyone can get lice..all they need is human blood n hair_PeacE

  • I've had dreads 3 times and never had lice...ever! I'ts rare if it happens..gotta be.

  • ??? uh, let me educate you. dreadlocks are not a "black hairstyle". dreadlocks can be seen in every culture throughout the centuries. the celts, hindus, egyptians, asians, norse , mayans etc. the list goes on and on. I'm not sure where you get your information. Could be you want to just say some bs just to ruffle feathers...from behind a computer. pretty funny if it wasn't so :(

  • no he had 400 diff kidns of lice

  • bob marley had 19 species of lice

  • @sarith321123 myth.

  • This is why I hate expert village; they don't know ANYTHING. I know a about 12 different ways to get lice out of dreadlocks.

  • could u tell me xD i got some ideas and methods but i got the feeling ... that it this shit dont works O.o

  • This is what got rid of lice in my dreads.

    1 jar of coconut butter

1 jug of vinegar(can use lemon juice or anything acidic)

    1 roll of cling-wrap

mix the coconut butter into your dreads from the scalp 2-3 inches up the dreads. Wrap in plastic and leave to set for 12-24 hours(kills lice)

Next wash out your dreads then soak in vinegar for several hours(kills nits, burns like a mofo) Repeat in one week and everything should be peachy. Just mind the extreme smell. Good luck!

  • thx dude :D i think i try it the next time xD i found another way :P

with normal anti lice medicin from the pharmacy

  • That was my second option because I didn't want to put any kind of crazy chemicals and poisons into my dreadlocks. >.>

  • hehe :P did the first option worked ?

i mean i got only 2-3 lice eggs ^^ i have to go to the doctor tomorow xD to get an attest for the school and to get sure that im clean up there :P

  • First option worked like a charm. Just be sure to do the second attack a week later to make sure no survivors are left alive.

  • ah well ^^ i went to the doctor this morning ;) he said i am clean muahahaha :D pharmacy rules ^^ and i felt like a god as i knew that i dont have to cut off my dreads

  • didn't this kinda kill your dreads tho?

  • @sacrenough

can i do that without combing off my hair while rinsing??

  • You only need to thoroughly rinse your dreads with your finger tips rubbing them gently using residue free shampoo. No need for a comb of any sorts Do it twice to be sure.

  • @sacrenough can you tell me?...please....just for the info. !

  • @sacrenough OMG you're my hero! please help me!

  • @WhoKilledMickeyMouse How else can I help you?

  • @sacrenough ya they all involve pretty intense smelling remedies lol (Vinegar and cayenne powder are just a few ive heard)

  • haha shes weird.

  • no.if you have lice in your dreads you CAN get rid of them. don't worry you don't have to cut off your dreads.i had lice in my dreads and got rid of them using vinegar rubbing alcohol and solution i bought from a chemist. not all at the same time. remember lice quickly get immune to whatever you are using on them so keep changing your tactic and you'll nuke the little buggers.heat and suffocation kills lice. and learn about their life cycle online so you know how long to leave between treatment

  • kan you translate this in dutch xd i don't understand but i think you can help me

    x

  • This girl is dumb! First she was saying you have to like cut or shave your head to remove your dreads, NO, knottyboy has a dread removal kit where you get to keep all of your hair. And there are lots of ways you can get rid of lice, even really bad lice, WITHOUT getting rid of your dreads. She is cool and all for doing this, but still, saying stuff like this can turn people off of dreads bad. IT IS NOT DEATH FOR YOUR DREADS!!! She kind of is now pissing me off...

  • why did her face get all trippie?

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • Yes, lice are very very bad and all cost stay away from children. And if you have dreadlocks AND lice...you do need to get rid of the dreads...but you don't have to cut them off: you can get a removal kit. F*ck Lice!

  • lol

    .. zebra

  • In all honesty lice are attracted to clean hair. If your hair is really clean then it makes it 100x easier for the lice to move in it. AND part way through the movie your face got a weird zebra look on it...as well as other parts of your body. Weird.
