It's likely he would have won titles in those two years, however it's also likely that he and the Bulls would have burned out after 95 (5 straight years of deep playoff runs). That break really was a blessing in disguise. What if Shaq and Kobe worked out their issues in the 2003 off-season? Cases can be made either way.

It's likely he would have won titles in those two years, however it's also likely that he and the Bulls would have burned out after 95 (5 straight years of deep playoff runs). That break really was a blessing in disguise. What if Shaq and Kobe worked out their issues in the 2003 off-season? Cases can be made either way.

@MrLengthy1 No...they didn't. They got out of the 1st round the year after with Pippen having a career year in a weak league (the HAWKS were the #1 seed in the East...yes, the HAWKS). And were 31-30 when MJ came back. Pippen left to the Rockets in the strike-shortened 1999 season before going to Portland post-MJ. The bottom line is, MJ had a much better team DEFENSIVELY...Kobe has NEVER played with a 1st team all-NBA defender. MJ had at least one in EACH of his six title years.

@robberealsr1982 ...what do you mean when Kobe is on fire no player past, present, or future can do anything about it? are you sure Jordan (as a Bull) is included in that category? go watch the 1996/97 Bulls vs. Lakers reg. season game. Kobe was on fire that game & had 33 pts, but Jordan had 36 pts. seeing as Jordan had 36 & the Bulls also won (no Pippen or Shaq that game), Jordan did do something about Kobe being on fire.

@imsljr420 I'm not sure about that, no one is discrediting Jordan, we all have our own opinions. I'm just saying it is a new era with plenty of great basketball players and I'm tired of people saying how much they suck compared to MJ. People ignoring players' talents is what bothers me.

Truthfully, no one is disrespecting Kobe, everything starts with Kobe fans disrespecting the history of the game, thats why old timers like me have to step in and start educating fools, and hence it seems like we're discrediting today's players, if Kobe fans would stop, we would stop, it's quite simple.
