Seeing Hawai'ian cartoons speaking Danish is just trippy. Being and German-speaking American in Hawai'i and being able to piece together some of the dialog is fun. Danish sounds like a fun language. Maybe I should pick it up.

Danish people, Norwegian people and Sweedish people can basically understand eachother, unless one has got some crazy accent.

The finnish language is VERY different from the others, so, no, those we cannot understand.

Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian are all very similar languages. From what I hear, they can understand each other fairly well. They evolved from the same root language and never branched as far as some languages have. And while German speakers can't verbally communicate with them, I do find that we can read the languages quite easily.

Finnish, on the other hand, is not a Germanic language. It is more closely related to Hungarian and other eastern European languages.
