Fetuses begin to develop a minimal brain stem at 7 weeks, but are not capable of consciousness until the third trimester and most likely remain unconscious until birth. It is simple to say to put a unwanted child up for adoption but I know few adopted people that were glad with that decision. I know the difficulties my unplanned birth caused my family. Planned parenthood was supposed to be one agency to help women find a good solution to this. There are other groups out there as well, many women choose abortion rather then adoption.
