@verdefull Too late my old son. Little Italy is a restaurant row of three blocks along Mulberry between Broome and Canal. Every youtube video or any other pics of Little Italy you see will feature the same 200 metres of the same street. The same 30 restaurants. That is it. That is Little Italy. No point blaming Chinatown. The Italians learned English, got jobs and moved out decades ago.
@tigerarmyrule This is also to reply to verdefull... It's the same thing happening here in China town in L.A. China town in L.A. is not the same as it was decades ago. The Chinese learned English, got jobs and moved out. China town used to be bigger, but now, it's just a bunch of restaurants and only covers a couple of blocks. The Chinese are dispersed into various locations and China town is just another street with hardly any culture in it anymore.
@TheCreativeArt I think its the same with all such ethnic enclaves. They serve their purpose and then the next generations move on. I'm of Irish descent. Hell's Kitchen was at one time Irish but the great grandchildren of the hells Kitchen people live all over the metro area. Same with the Italians. Ethnic enclaves across the states now are tourist orientated restaurant areas. You still see Little Italy on tourist maps...it doesn't exist. As I said it is 3 blocks of Mulberry and no more.
I just got home from New York, and I fell in LOVE with Little Italy when I was there. I'm thinking about getting myself a place there. I would love to live there. I had the best dinner at Angelo's on Mulberry, the best Marinara sauce I've EVER had.
Well...thats not entirely true. Little Italy isnt what it was even 20 years ago....but there's still a good amount of authenticity there...you just have to look. Its a really fun neighborhood though.
Forza Italia!!!.....fratelli newyorkesi siete l'orgoglio dell'Italia negli U.S.A.!!!

I stumbled upon this festival once and found some great food at Paolucci's, 149 Mulberry Street.
