  • so moving. burst into tears when i heard this live. now i have this tattooed so i never forget...

  • this is amazing.... i watch this everyday

to remember to Shake The Dust:) every single morning and i have that shirt that says Shake the dust from To Write Love On Her Arms:)

  • Persian poetry blood manifesting in English.

  • Make sure that when the fisherman returns you are gone...

  • the hearts beats 900 times a day? That's it!?!?!

  • @AndrosForever I'm pretty sure he must have meant to say 90,000 times a day, which would be 62.5 times a minute.

  • roughly 100,800 times lol i dont know why he didnt just say something more accurate but its still good. im not hating

  • I'm leaning this for my public speaking class and presenting it to them:)

  • I can listen to this again and again.

  • beautiful.

  • It's not simply the diction of the poetry, but the way it is presented

@AwfulBandName, he will also be studied in speech classes.

His hand gestures, and simply, the emotion in his voice, is breathtaking.

Anis shook the dust with this poem.

  • I love the way he says this poem. It's beautiful in every way

  • this is amazing!

  • i love this guy!!

  • Jangtank said it best.

To those that imply it's from the bible, yes the phrase is there, yet it transcends to life for all

Shake the dust = move on; carry on

Kansas - "Dust in the wind", "Carry on Wayward Son"

    So yea, they correlate! :)

  • Shake the dust :)

  • This poem has saved my life so many times.

  • thumbs up for fat girls

  • wow.

  • incredible

  • ‎"Do not let one moment go by that doesn't remind you that your heart, it beats 900 times every day and that there are enough gallons of blood to make every one of you oceans"

Oh my god. This is the most beautiful thing ever. I could listen to it over and over and over and it would never get old. So moving.

  • Goosebumps.

  • i'd like this more if i knew what "shake the dust" meant. can someone tell me what that phrase means?

  • @Aquajonas101 It's from the Bible: And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town. (Matthew 10:14)

  • @Aquajonas101 i think llenovivo might be wrong buddy. again, i might also be wrong but here's my 2 cents worth. i personally believe it's a lot more of an imagery. things which have been discarded, defeated, broken, are left to sit in one corner. they are left in a state of disrepair and are only capable of collecting dust. hence, when anis tells us to shake the dust, he is telling us to pick ourselves off the ground, say no to defeat, and to carry on with life.

  • @jangtank wow thanks that was awesome. i agree with you that makes so much sense...makes me love this poem even more now that i get that. thank you.

  • @jangtank Actually, it is from the bible and a couple of lines from Anis' other stuff suggests he draws from there quite a bit! But every poet loves double meanings, and he used the line in several different ways here. :)

  • What does shake the dust mean exactly?

  • incredible <3 !!!!! amazing, im glad i came across him

  • This man is amazing!

  • he's absolutely awesome, but not very good at maths, I'm sure hearts beat a lot more than 900 times a day. Still he's the dogs knackers

  • I love this poem. I heard it in my poetry class and I've been thinking about it ever since

  • I'm not sure even Anis Mogjani would have the words to describe Anis Mogjani.

  • Just damn

Do not let a moment go by that doesn't remind you that your heart beats 900 times a day and that there are enough gallons of blood to make you an ocean.

Do not settle for letting these waves settle and the dust to collect in your veins.

This is for the celibate pedophile who keeps on struggling,

  • im looking for a certain video by Anis. i cant for the life of me remember what its called but its about him and an old friend when they were kids, and their dads, hmmm stuff like that. anyone know what im talking about? help me out!

  • @dharmabum717 i think you are talking about boogeymen... or boogeyman??? :)

  • @jumpxinx22 thank you very much! that is it! its a great one too. nostalgic

  • @dharmabum717 Four stars

  • breathing it in.

  • THERE IS A CONTENT SLEEPING ASIAN DUDE IN THE URL OF THIS VIDEO: -_-

  • This slows my heartbeat... while making it beat faster. Speechless.

  • omg, it's inspirational, I love it, and a GREAT WOW FOR THIS MAN

  • This has changed my life.

  • The part where he goes "pushes and pulls and pushes and pulls and pushes and pulls..." makes me feel the most calm and relaxed I've ever felt. His voice is meditative. I could fall asleep to it.

  • Modern day Ginsberg

  • wow

  • the comments on this video are just as enjoyable as the video itself. (: it's comforting to know there are others out there that think like me and appreciate the same beautiful things in life that i do. we have taste. ;)

  • This is one of those things that makes me feel alive when I feel like a zombie. His call to shake the dust brings me out of the deepest pits and grounds me like nothing else. I saw him perform several years ago, and it's stuck with me ever since. Thank you, Anis, for putting this out into the world! It's a better place because of you.

  • Any poem that begins with "this is for the fat girls."

  • On the heartbeat thing, if your heart beats 100,000 times per day, it would not be false to say it beats 900 times per day, because it does beat 900 times per day - 111.11 times. Make sense? So now that that little trivial matter is settled, how about the critical listeners try watching the poem again, and this time, listening to the poem? :) I love this man's work. Always great.

  • So insanely beautiful. I could just fall asleep to his voice, it's hypnotic. Someone said on the video for The Fisherman, that his voice is like listening to waves crashing. And it's so true. Anis Mogjani is one of the most beautiful and inspiring people I know of, he is truly brilliant.

  • Anis Mogjani...you are by far the most beautiful person I know of.

  • My heart just ejaculated.

  • I shake the dust 900 times a day.

  • @Menla1 That's what you take from this poem...

  • great video. like the poem.

our hearts beat a FUCK load more than 900times a day just saying. they beat that in less than an hour

  • I wanna put this in a tattoo some how.

  • I think this has woken me up, opened my eyes. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who had a hand in this.

  • To the person who sent this to me,

    Thank you, I love you.

  • The heart beats 100,800 times a day, other than that little misfit fact I love this poem and the orator who produced it.

  • This dude's going to be studied in in American Lit courses in colleges everywhere in, like, 20 years.

    Mogjani is legit.

  • I don't think this video would be nearly as emotional if it was in color. It matches the tone of the poem beautifully. I know I'm probably the only person to comment on the video and not the poem, but every other video of this poem is not as nearly as effective to me in expressing its tone.

  • @KeithSkud I totally agree with you. I always make sure to choose this video when listening to this poem.

  • Dope, dank, rad, nasty, bomb, fly, groovy, right on, far out, bitchin, hot, neato, the bee's knees, the cat's meow, great.

  • just greatttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt :)

  • Wow. This guy is amazing. Truly inspiring work. Keep it up (:

  • This is a poem and its poet inspire me.

  • why is this not more known? this is beautiful!

  • his vision, imagery, passion and thought make him one of the best poets that we have seen in a long time.. keep doing what you do my friend.

    namaste

  • also, I think he delivers it better in the seattle 2006 slam.

  • Seriously, one of the best things I've ever heard. He is on another level with words, controlling them like God controls birds.
