He better not slap BB or he'll be dealing with "The Bluesman" next. Nobody messes with the "B" when I'm around or there will be people going to the hospital pronto. Derek is very good but B has "paid the cost to be the boss" so if he wants to mix some black tongue with the pretty little Suzi or any other body part he may. Anyone gets in his way and they're going to the hospital. Is there a question?
I feel that BB's legend precedes his intellect. His talking over everyone's playing and singing in the beginning, having them go into a different song a minute into the first groove, and then continue to talk over both Susan and Derek's contribution is not only highly disrespectful to them as musicians, but also to everyone who has paid money to see a rehearsed show. Then stopping the song at 10.5 minutes in to start "You are my Sunshine", just to stop it and restart it is a complete disgrace.
@MrFuckyouintheneck I actually like his playing, his voice and his incredible influence over millions of players. I saw Tedschi Trucks band here in Austin last night, highly recommend show if it comes to your town. The band they have are quite amazing. They all have more than one talent and are highlighted during the course of the show though listening and respecting each other. B.B doesn't possess that any more and I don't think it's something that should go away because of age or stature.
@atlgtrman dude that's what he does. He always sings sunshine. It's kinda like when your grandpa comes to town you don't disagree with him, you laugh at his jokes, and let him have the good seat and what not. BB can get away with what he wants because he's payed more shows than days some of us have lived. I'm sure they didn't feel disrespected, but rather happy to get in on his gig with sunshine. BB doesn't disrespect, he just does, and it goes, cause he's BB King.
B's on a combo of Meth and Viagra and hot for Suzi, hey, why not? He's in his late 80s and she must look pretty hot to him, sweet soft little "Bambi" teasing Kong (with a big Viagra boner) This would make for a great movie. Derek sounds great as always but the real story is the lovefest that's about to take place in the green room after the show. Hope one of the roadies films it and puts it on the net....BB time! "The Bluesman" speaks and it heard by his billion fans. Uh huh, Uh huh, I likes it!
BBs a sweet heart, a mans man. BUT he's still a big "Horn Dog" salivating over little Suzzi...Derek looks like he's jealous and ready to "slap down" on poor BB. I heard back stage, after the show, that BB groped Susan and Derek smacked the poor guy. What a "Bully"!
@ebay9302 Derek would not slap BB. The man's an old cat, he can grope whoever he wants, let alone a gorgeous woman who can play some fine guitar and sing the blues.
Derek is a "Good" slide player. He stole most of his stuff from Duane...so what? Now Ry Cooder is a great slide player, though there could be a better one out there that we've never heard of. Cooder "invented" his style, Derek stole his. Cooder plays nice and simple, very tasty. Derek usually overplays, way too many unnecessary notes. Thats my old bandmate "Charlie Tuna" playing behind BB. We had a gig one night and the next night he got a call from BB. Not bad!
@ebay9302 I'd say Derek's evenly taken influence from Duane, the 'sacred steel' players (especially Aubrey Ghent and the Campbell Brothers) and Ali Akbar Khan-(the sarod player he got lessons off).
When I was a teenager the slide guitarists that were the greatest were Lowell George, Ry Cooder, Duane Allman, & most of the Delta and Chicago bluesmen who got ripped off and with their names forgotten) . To a lesser extent, there were Mick Taylor, Rory Gallagher, & Chris Whitely.
But now? DEREK TRUCKS is King of the slide now. Of this generation, there's Warren Haynes, Sonny Landreth, and others in the mainstream of rock, blues, and R&B..
seriously? you guys are cracking on BB? REALLY? hes 86 years old and still cutting up,if ya live to be 86 ya get to talk as much as ya want.NEW RULE i just made it up:)
@jotobow825 Nah, Les Paul made up that rule. He was 94 and still playing the Iridium Club every Monday night. He talked when he wanted and played when he wanted. He smoked a lot of guitar players on that stage too. BB has earned the right to talk and play when he wants too.
@wingseclipsed Always had plenty of tickets on himself and so 'camp' it's funny-but he's a legend so I'll shut the f--k up now and go back to the mountain dulcimer.
i love B.B King but he talks far to much in shows these days especially when he stops half way through every song to say some spiel bout something i just wana hear him play that gat
yeah baby..yeah! Now that's what I'm talkin bout! Blues baby blues..and as soon as I am done with this "court order" not to drink....I plan to attend the first show I can get to where they serve tequila and beer....!
At the very beginning of the video when B.B. is talking about "doing what he wants to do," did he not-so-subtlely tell Derek that he wants to fuck Susan? seems like it.
@OceannaAurora He would, because he's that humble. Derek is the greatest slide player ever by light years, and even without the slide one of the greatest ever to lay eyes on an axe.
