If you buy the moon clips from taurus, you can shoot 45 acp from the judge and public defender. Taurus moon clips are a touch thinner than standards. So thats another ammo option for you judge and public defender owners.
@zombieface98 Don't know if I'd recommend it. Some misfires could have been ammo related but after hearing other similar stories I think it's a result of soft strikes from the firing pin on the primers. Not a good sign if reliability is what you have to have in a self defense gun.
Thanx for this review. Just bought one last night and I love it. A car jacking is highly unlikely in my neck of the woods. I plan to carry mine as self defense while hiking and camping. Seems like a great gun to fend off coyotes or black bear.
@XBUNCEX Hope it works well for you. If it's black bear you're potentially concerned about, I'd mix some 45 Colt in at the end of the rotation as .410 buck may not be heavy enough to stop one in a charge. Just my 2 cents.
As far as using 410 rounds for conceal and carry, well, the unfortunate truth is you run the risk of hitting something you don't want to with any high powered hand gun. You have to defend yourself against a carjacker, and there's a good chance the round may end up going through the guy and into the car next to you. Not fun to think about, but a reality. That's why I don't ever want to have to use a weapon I carry.
A buddy of mine just got one and I liked the light weight feel to it. I'm considering one but I was worried it would be a wrist breaker. After watching your vid, I'm a little more confident on firing one.
@ShadowACE1998 Definitely not a wrist breaker. It's completely manageable with a strong grip understanding that there IS some recoil. When you're prepared for it and are prepared to absorb it it's much less severe.
Great video!! Hey have you done a review in the ruger super redhawk Alaskan yet? It's the stubby one that shoots .45 long colt and 454 casull. If not I hope you get a chance to because I think you would like that big boy revolver. I'm subscribing to your vids right now. Thank you
@RoadHardOffRoad A lot of what I review is what I can get my hands on and even what I can afford. But I like the suggestion. I'm a big fan of the hand cannon style "bear guns."
@ALGARETEFULL Gun is verified unloaded. Apologies if my habits make you uncomfortable, I do my best to show the firearm as another shooter would want to look at it checking out to handle for the first time. That said, I appreciate your constructive insights and your time to view the review.
What do you think about Taurus and now S&W releasing these handguns with conceal carry in mind? I think they're great for home/car/ranch, but carrying .410 in public? As a CCP holder, I would NEVER carry one of these .410 handguns due to the very good chance of shooting someone that's not meant to be shot. If one wants to carry it in .45LC, then more power to them.
@BYLRPhil You're not the only one who feels this way. Marketing a "SHOTGUN" for CCW seems dangerous and potentially careless at the very least. If someone does want it for the 45 LC as your chosen carry round that's cool, but it's heavy as all get out.
@hausofguns In that scenario, Beretta sold Taurus all of the tooling, etc.; basically their entire manufacturing facility in Brazil. So no, I don't consider it quite the same.
@sturmgewehr70 Maybe not, you're exactly right about the circumstances being different. But Taurus did make quite a profit of the continued output of Model 92 style guns, even calling them the PT92. If it were a smaller company copying the Judge say like Charter Arms or a Kel Tec or someone they'd be getting all kinds of crap that's for sure.
Remember when Ruger's LCP was released? How it looked JUST LIKE Kel Tec's P3AT and it was just a "coincidence?" At least S&W has improved the design IMO.
@StiThis1 Thanks brother, I agree. This is the ultimate solution to having a shotgun as your main home defense piece but you don't want to deal with the length of a pump.

@ShadowACE1998 .410 for car gun/carjacking defense, yes. CCW, I'd advise against it.

I think you need to look at the hammer and firing pin of your gun. Whether you think winchester shotshells are cheap or not.
yahtzee4u 7 months ago
@yahtzee4u Hammer and firing pin are fine. Ammo was old. Shot 3 other brands with zero issue at all.

I have the Poly and a stainless Judge......love'em. And I'm disappointed in Smith and Wesson's plagiarism with the Governor.

@sturmgewehr70 You don't think it's just karma coming back to bite Taurus after they copied the Beretta 92 all those years?
