My first powered two wheeler was a 125cc Vespa 152L2. I paid £5 for it and rescued it from a scap yard. I tuned it up, converted it to 12volts (I designed the conversion myself) and trimed down the leg shields. The speedo needle then went all round the clock and back to the end stop. Thereafter I had hundreds of them and now I can rebuild an engine and gearbox from scratch without any manuals. My last one was a GS160 I had in 1985 and sold it for £350. I forgot to put the last 0 in the price.
I just purchased a Vespa Lx 150, my gosh, everywhere I go I receive ooohs and aaahsss. The older generation especailly finds it absolutely beautiful. Almost every one of them had a Vespa story to tell. There wasn't a single soul that didn't have fond memories of this wonderfully designed archetype. After watching this especially, I think I'm appreciating my Vespa even more! Thank you so much for the video!
It's a very good idea. I'm also from belgium, and a friend and I already went to the belgian coast, took half a day but very enjoyable. We had 50 cc at the time, My friend has a 150cc from the the early 60's and I still have my 50 pxl from 1984 but with a 75cc engine. Might be possible to do it, even if it take a week ;)
Today the weather is bleak, it is cold but in my heart I am in paradise, "a paradise for two" as it is the day I acquired a prestine unmarked 1963 Vespa GS 160, a scooter I was told I would never find!...... Hallelujah
I had a collection of vintage scooters when I was a teenager in High School. I had more fun on those things. I wrapped a 3/4" nylon rope around the rear tire in the winter in deep snow and the vespa plowed right through 18" of snow no problem. I had this perfect cooler that fit right on the floor for my beer. I had oil & gas stored all over my city so I could fuel up so many places. The girlfriends loved them. I had a mint condition 1968 180 Rally that was stolen, broke my heart.
I had a Vespa when I was a kid. I paid $5, brought it home in a cardboard box and put it together. I never got it to run but it fired a couple of times.
eheh next time you'll come to italy you have to see the museum in Rovereto, near Trento (Trent). It's managed by Frisinghelli, one of the most important vespa experts in Italy (and probably in the world). Great video, dude!

Italy and Seatle WA have lost incomen they both have rich glass communitys and vespa are right there with air planes the seatel area has the museam of flight as it was a source of wood to build the first planes ans Italy was cool enough to have mopheads!
Thanks for your comments. I was hoping this would allow viewers to see the museum. Yes please get your scooters back on the road as I would love to see them.
I had one briefly in 1980. I got rid of it though, as being I was only 15 and a keen mod, I wasn't sure what to make of it and thought it didn't fit the part. Got an SX150 instead. If only i could turn back the clock.
