  • low shots cause more rebounds y'all!

  • lol, what a hack shot by gretz.

  • I'm just .............reallly....stoned

  • man i wish the great one had played in vancouver with bure, alex and cliff.

  • wayne has the ugliest nhl jersey on i've ever seen.

  • First time I see Bure in his own zone...

  • 0:12 lol

  • @evanderlazer You can say Gretzky is a russian decent but dont say he's russian. But the last name sounds like Polish to me than russian.

  • @boipinoi604 his father is Ukrainian

  • I don't know if Bure ever had the word "defense" in his vocabulary...the concept must have confused him greatly.

  • gretzky also scored the majority of his points in the nhl expansion era

  • @evanderlazer Actually, Gretzky is a Belarussian name, not Russian.

  • @nylonhead116

Russia and Belarussia itone and the same people.

    Almost any distinctions.

    One language

  • lol This brings me back, I used to have this tape. My dad would make me watch it if I had a bad game hahaha.

  • @Domenic9 sound pretty funny if u ask me :P

  • Bure to Odjick at the end of in this clip!

  • I have this video tape. Its all about hockey tips by wyane and others.

  • cmon gretzky... shoot high?... are you kidding me fire low at the pads ... makes a bigger bounce and more uncontrolable...

  • i think the greatest player to ever play the game would know more then you.....

  • How many goals have you scored in the NHL

  • if the great one says shoot high, you damn well better shoot that puck high.

  • @boipinoi604 Its actually Better to shoot the puck low now with all the hybrid style goalies, looking from a players perspective it looks obvious that the top is cover but if u lay yourself right in front of the puck and look the bottom and alot more open. Shooter's Eye my friend. ;)

  • @Wargazin I've actually just started playing ice hockey for a year now. I will keep that in mind and give it a shot. Just curious, how long have you been playing?

  • @boipinoi604 12 years now.

  • @boipinoi604 question.....why wouldnt you shoot low for the rebound?, you miss the net its out of your zone , yea great play, not

  • @Anunnakilord - I guess you haven't played a lot of high-end hockey. One - Gretz is assuming you can hit the net. Two - high shots are harder for a goalie to control a rebound on. Three - High shots are harder for the d-man to block. Four - a high shot at any goalie sets him up for your next shot - on the ice! (Bobby Hull's old trick.)

I would take Gretzky's advice on this one...

  • @turfzx lol 5 years jr A, 10 years pro, drafted to Dallas, way back in the 90's

hit the net is all I'm saying for a rebound, its a safe play not everyone is Gretzky ya know!!!

  • @Anunnakilord Whats your name so i can check your pro stats? Or are you going to avoid me again? Also how old were you when you started Jr A , because according to your age ( 32 ) That time line doesn't work. Your full of shit! And everytime i see you post your horse shit, i'm going to call you out on it!

  • @darrenhol avoiding you HA, my name ya im gonna post that. Well 5 years of junior, started at 14, in Ontario Tier 2, then I played 3 years major junior in OHL and Q,

I played 3 years in the states, drafted to Dallas late, farm teams for Dallas, and San jose, ECHL, and some AHL, 7 years pro in top european league, Sweden , Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Italy, Switzerland, and France, and Holland..and DARRENHOL played until Bantam houseleague HAhahah, and you want to argue with me?

  • @Anunnakilord Good. What year and what round were you drafted? If you refuse to tell me, I refuse to believe you.

  • @turfzx Don't listen to Annunnakilord, your rite. This guy on another youtube gretzky vid tried telling me he( Annunnakilord) use to be a pro hockey player, and now runs a hockey school, were he skates nhl'rs. When i called him out on it, and ask for his name, so i could research his pro stats, i never heard from him again.

  • @darrenhol I find this actually pathetic so I won't answer your stupid comments anymore, I'm arguing with a nobody that wants me to prove myself?

And modesty, couldn't care less its fucking youtube,

  • @Anunnakilord Your full of shit, and you know it, you post comments argueing with people about hockey, and you keep spouting your pro stats. And when your asked to prove it, you can't. If your going to throw your cridentials at everybody, then prove it jerk off. And yes i did play up until i was a bantom, never said i played anything else. Unlike you i'm not trying to be somebody i am not.

  • @Anunnakilord Wayne Fucking Gretzky gives you advice and you shove it. You're 100 years too young to ask questions. Hell, half the hockey world would pay hundreds of dollars for an hour of ice time with/instruction from The Great One, even if they had to share it with 50 other people.

  • @holobalobalo you damn rights , the game changed, and as much as I would listen to whatever he has to say don't fucking put him on a pedestal like he is the most "talented" hockey player that ever played cause thats fucking bullshit and if you argue the fact that Ovechkin 1 on 1 vs Wayne, Gretkzy in his prime would get killed, Crosby would rip his head off and about 80% of the steroid using players nowadays would break him in half...you even say he fast enough, I'll think your retarded

  • @Anunnakilord Shows how much you know.

1: He IS (disputably, Mario was right up there) the most talented hockey player who ever played.

2: Gretzky was a team player. Hockey is a team sport. 1-on-1 doesn't mean shit.

3: Steroids don't work in hockey, they actually make you worse.

4: EVERYONE in the old, more violent NHL wanted to rip Gretzky a new one, and some of them would give Ovechkin a run for his money. Gretzky did just fine against them.

  • @holobalobalo , you guys fucking kill me you really do, you tell me I dont know what I'm talking about, you really have me laughing me ass off, I got fucking amateurs arguing with a pro seriously shut your fucking mouth with your comments , they make no sense, and because you want Wayne to fuck you in the ass , its pretty obvious cause your arguments are Retarded...A... he was left alone to promote hockey ...he sold tickets...its a fact...would love to have that freedom when I played

  • most talented hockey player , again you do not know what your talking about, he was the Smartest that played, but not the most talented, you people are fucked how stupid you are, wayne was so skinny it was embarrassing to pro hockey players, steroids doesnt help hockey players out WTF, hahahaha, yea ok, my last player I trained was Stamkos, I dont know what I'm talking about..Bodysmith is all I have to say I help out with his on ice training in the summer with Randy Smith his personal...retards

  • @Anunnakilord "Talented", "Smart", whatever. If the guy can break just about every record DESPITE being so small that he embarrassed the pros when he trashed them, I'd call it talent. Call it whatever you want, but your just nitpicking.

If you're telling the truth about training professional players, than I won't argue any of those points with you since you're clearly more qualified than I am, but that doesn't change the fact that you're a douche who needs to take a grammar class.

  • @holobalobalo

#3 "Steroids don't work in hockey, they actually make you worse"

Oh really? Are you one of these idiots who thinks that there isn't a steroid issue in hockey? So being stronger, faster, while being bigger (if you want) and having much better endurance doesn't help? Interesting.

People think that roids automatically = huge muscles and strenght but roids actually help you get to whatever goal you want. Look at those "Tour de France" guys. If it helps them why not hockey players?

  • @SteroidsMakeMeStrong OK , seriously, that's your argument? Did you know you have different types of roids that dont make you huge? They make you ripped and strong, then you have other types of juice, that makes you retain water thus you have big huge slow dumb fucks who think they are tough, but the stuff I mentioned before hand was and I'm sure is still used in junior/pro, and they do use it...my old D- partner in junior is a prime example of a skinny kid that did too much juice, Jiri Fischer

  • Respond to this video...and just so you know players that play in Europe, get checked for Anti doping constantly, so when we used supplements we made damn sure when the shit was out of our system...North America doesnt even know what Anti doping is... and guess what steroids do work its how your train with them, and No I dont agree with them ,I'll see how you guys fare with goons coked up juiced up, and how do you fight back...you get bigger and stronger..what ever it takes...

  • @SteroidsMakeMeStrong Frankly steroids don't make as big a difference in hockey as in other sports because...

1: Hockey is primarily a skill sport, not a muscle sport. Muscles help, sure, but they don't play nearly as much of a role as they do in sports like baseball, boxing or American football.

2: 'Roids coupled with a professional athlete's tough routine stimulates muscle growth at a rate that throws off balance; an effect which is amplified by the fact that your skating not running.

  • @holobalobalo

What are you talking about dude? You're so fucking naive. I bet you think that less than 10% of NHLers are on the sauce. And your comment is so fucking retarded that I don't even feel like refuting it.

  • @SteroidsMakeMeStrong Nice name btw. Do you look through youtube videos just to find comments about steroids?

  • @SteroidsMakeMeStrong You're really fucked in the head. The only NHLers that I know of that took steroids are Sean Hill and Bryan Berard. Thanks idiot.

  • @avalanchesuperstar

You're so fucking dumb bro. We're talking about a professional League where potentially millions of dollars are at stake. Integrity automatically decreases and a lot of guys start looking for an edge anywhere they can.

I remember hearing an interview with some NHL goon from Montreal, he admitted he was on roids and so were a lot of his teammates. He said that some guys would pop pills of speed before games, claims that were confirmed by others.

  • @avalanchesuperstar

You honestly think that he and his teammates were the only one with the mindset of getting an edge?

Remember Alexei Cherepanov? The talented Russian prospect who collapsed during a game and later died? An autopsy revealed that he was doing blood doping. U think he was the only one doing it? It doesn't matter if it's roids, speed, blood doping, the fact of that matter is that cheating is going on in the NHL.

  • @avalanchesuperstar The only reason why you don't hear about cheating in the NHL is because the drug testing program is awful. It would be a PR disaster if they said "Yeah we have a steroid problem too".

Oh yeah, remember the chiropractor from DDC who got busted for roid trafficking and said that some of his clients were members of the Washigton Caps? Why would he make such accusation?

  • @SteroidsMakeMeStrong lots of cheating going on, players have lots of money so lots of women offer themselves to the players after the game

  • @Anunnakilord

Dude, a past his prime Jagr got 54G 69A 123PTS in 2005-2006. Then he got 30G 66A 96PTS in 2006-2007. You don't think that guys like prime Lemieux and Gretzky (who were way better than Jagr) wouldn't dominate this league today?

  • @SteroidsMakeMeStrong Well, honestly I love Lemieux I think he was the best in my opinion, he was tough too...He had the size and strength to play...BUT if they trained the way they did in those days Lemiuex could play nowadays but not Wayne, no fucking way, I have been in a dressing room with him a few times, he is skin and bones, and I'm dead serious, he looks like he escaped from a death camp....Now if they trained the way they do now...

  • @holobalobalo

Phoenix did that... didn't work out too well

    Jus sayin...

The Great One was a great player, but just because you're a great player doesn't mean you're a great coach. There's something lost in the transition there.

  • @boipinoi604 i lose it everytime i read this comment.

  • He shot high blocker side, that's more effective than low towards the pads especially on a 2-on-1. Oh, and the great one was probably creating this video before you were born, son.

  • if you shoot like gretzky, you go high

  • I'm on your side. No matter how many people are against you. You're right. Hokcey has evolved since this video. I respect Wayne, as I am sure you do too, but things have changed since this video.

  • lol hahahaaaa

are u seriously trying to correct Mr. Gretzky???

why don't u count how many career goals he has before trying to correct him lollll

  • @Skaterzac20 this guy is right... the rest opf you people are fucking retarded. what kind of a rebound asre you gunna get at a high shot, even blocker shot is gunna get steered aside. u ppl are fucking stupid, and the game is different then when it was in the 80's

  • haha yesyesyes how the hell do u get a rebound when the goalie catches it?

  • Right he is...even back then in the 80's he's right. If u want a rebound shoot low pad blocker side regardless the decade. Gretzky is a twat! I'm only saying this cuz he snubbed me when i asked him politely for an autograph back in the 1991 Canada Cup. Sad part was, he was alone in his limo with the window down and he pretty much rolled up the window in my face. I am forever traumatized! :P

  • @tool97

Gretzky scored more goals than anyone and had more assists than any two other players so I wouldn't question him.

  • @tool97 If only you had enough fame, so you can experience what it would be like, to be hounded for autographs. Also have you ever considered maybe he was having a bad day? and signing an autograph was not high on his priority list. Get over it!

  • I find shooting low pad on the blocker side is best if u have the option. Just cuz if u happen to shoot a lil higher then expected goalie can glove it. Also, it would be easier for the goalie to steer the puck away from the net by moving his goalie stick towards the catcher rather then blocker. I hope that makes sense, anyhoot ur totally right skaterac, Gretzky should know better!

  • and a goalies ;)

  • Gretzky and Mogilny comming right at u that has to be a defender's nightmare

  • I usually just try and block one side off forcing the pass/puck to the one side and so the goalie only needs to track one guy. Cause in the end in a 2v1 you want to make the goalies job as easy as possible, knowing that offense will certainly get a shot off

  • its not called flip pass no more its called a saucer

  • Odjick saved the video

  • and out of nowhere the video ends with a Gino Odjick goal? ^_^

  • If Gretzky can make a scorer out of gino, he'll make a scorer out of you.

  • shouldn't it be a low shot? he said a high shot...

low shots are better for rebounds

  • no good if you got nobody in front of the net but the goalies own defence, which is normally the case on a 2 on 1

  • If Wayne Gretzky says high shot, I'd go with the high shot.

  • The only reason I can think of, is that the puck is more likely to rebound further away from the goalie, making it harder for the goalie to get his glove on and allow for a second shot... but the original shot would have to be stick side otherwise you would lose the puck to the goalie's glove anyway.

  • I'm thinking the goalie would sprawl

  • Should be :) You need more than luck to score 92 times in a single season :)

  • its patrick roy u morons

  • Odjick went crazy, man. I loved it..

  • No, you're a good goalie if you stop one of Bure's shots. Forget the great one, what about the russian Rocket!

  • Is that Brodeur in Net?

  • definitely not. Plays like a junior.

  • this was filmed at the rink I first played travel at.. unfortunately it is no more :( good memories though.

  • Bure own goal at 0.48 rebound and own goal :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • ROTFL, FUNNIEST CLIP EVER!!!!!!

  • that's why as a D man... I always wait for the forward to make the first move ;)

Just like good goalies make the players make the first move

  • Thanks Gretz. I always wanted to know how to score off a 2-on-1 break...

    LOL.

  • Lol haha

  • look at 0.35-0.37 bure almost falls lol

  • Bure..one of the greatest goal scorers in the history of the game but defensively???(no comment) LOL

  • Rofl, he was ok. But thats the reason he was a 1st liner

  • yea, i don't see gretzky or mogilny as top defenders either.:P although i think they could do better than bure. all jokes aside tho, i'm canadian so i prolly wouldn't know but i assume that bure is to russians what gretzky is to us???

  • haha the guy.. its wayne gretzky

  • lol!

  • first time I've ever seen Bure skate backwards

  • rofl i laughed :P

  • @Melbelle26 hahaha i was just gonna write that , not only that watch closely he almost stumbles pivoting backwards...lol

  • RARE footage. Bure backchecking!

  • Bure scores goals, some of the most exciting goals in history, who cares if hes a pylon defensively

  • i didn't know bure could skate backwards

  • Bure playing defence LOL.

  • no he didnt...he wasnt anywhere close to falling

  • Haha bure is such a good defensemen

  • It's nice to see Pavel Bure at least has the ability to enter the defensive zone, even if it's only an instructional tape.

  • I like seein Gino Odjick get a goal.

  • lol tatomka- Bure wasn't even trying. It's just an instructional video.

  • dude, i remember this video!

  • Cool video but Pavel Bure was a typical defenseman, Rob Ray would have scored 500 goals

  • HAHAHAHA! LMAO :)

  • lmfao are you serious!!! bure a typical defenseman!! please dont tell me you tink hes a defenseman!!

  • I meant to say, "IF Pavel Bure was a typical defenseman, Rob Ray would have scored 500 goals". As in because of Bure's style of frequent cherry-picking he would have been out of his own zone before the puck.

  • damn it was more funny thinking you thought he was a defenseman, lol
