really great job! interesting how you used a pick...i'd think it'd be easier to play fingerstyle, but the way you did it sounds perfect! great voice too, man
Just looked up this song on the off-chance and was amazed at your version. Pink Moon is in my top ten albums of all time and this song is my favourite - it sums everything up in a few lines - and you do it perfectly.
DW that was great! Can you tell me how much an early 60's - late 50's M20 would cost? I had a go on a early 70's D50 and I sounded great! :D The tone, sound, volume etc was incredible!! ( I have a cheap Yamaha right now ). I'm desperate to get a Vintage Guild now..
My 1964 M20 cost me £1200 in London a couple of years ago. Because of the Nick connection, they don't stay on sale for more than a day or two, so the seller doesn't need to negotiate on price.
An M20 has no bass to speak of at all - in that respect, it's rubbish compared to say a Martin dreadnought guitar like the D28. But that wonderful treble sound it has, with the ringing high notes, is just stunning, and strumming works great too, as Nick's recordings and these videos show.
To be a devils advocate, I think the bass output is astounding for such a small body. The mahogany top really brings out that "warm, dull" overtone. Just my opinion, especially with the lower tunings.
Very excellent cover once again. I wouldn't worry about the speed; it doesn't hurt it to be a bit faster as long as it's kept rhythmically tight which yours definitely.
Haha, wow, you're right. When I looked at the time, I didn't take the intro into account, and there was a small delay before you started playing, so it's really more like ten seconds too fast. Sharp ear indeed. *grin*
this is awesome. gave me chills.

I have M -20 produced in 1962. I like this guitar (*´∀`*). This guitar is written as "GUILD" in a flowing script, too
62年まではGUILDが筆記体ロゴなんだよね

Very nice
In some tuning like open G5 tuning or something, I imagine!

Do you think the new m20 could sound remotely similar. That is a very nice sound. And your voice. Thanks man.

Terrific...may I ask what recording kit you use ?

Thanks for the comments - I use an Mbox and a pair of AT4040 microphones, recorded to ProTools LE for Mac, and the guitar is a late 50's guild M20.

Really good talented guitarist. i thought it was a touch too fast though

Original track was 1:38, and this is 1:34... can't be too much of a difference!

I think paulbeno553 actually is right (and also has a sharp ear!) - I just clocked mine vs the original, and mine's a few bpm too bright.
