  • Thanks, good work!

  • just get an aftermarket accelerator pump...boyesen makes the best i believe around $125

  • did you make the heat shield on the exhaust pipe yourself?

  • Comment removed

  • @mossow71 most likely it could breathe better

  • Do you have a how to jet? Vid?

  • can you do that with a 300ex carb maybe?

  • @jakers388 no you cant do that with a 300ex its only with the yfz450

  • are you selling your quads in criaglist

  • Did The Zip-Tie Mod And Am Noticing A Considerable Amount Of Fuel Being Dumped On Ground When I Gas It. Bog And Hesitation Is Definetly Gone Just Wondering Bout Fuel Dripping From Hose On Carb Cover Where Zip-Tie Is. It Has A Hose For Draining ,But I Don't Think This Much Fuel Dripping Is NORMAL. Like I Said Only When I Gas It. Let Me now What You Think. Thinking Bout Quick Shot.

  • @JoeyBaima not seen that one happen befor i will look into what the cause may be and respond back.

  • after i put this on when i rev or ride my yfz it idles at about 1/2 throttle for about 10 to 15 seconds why is that?

  • @rockerboi08 make sure you're not obstructing anything with your zip tie. the throttle wheel could be hitting your zip tie and that could be causing it. also make sure your carb is as clean as possible. I haven't done the zip tie mod to mine yet and it had a very sticky throttle until I sprayed every damn part of the carb with carb cleaner. No problems after that though.

  • Damn it didn't fix it!

  • @uae3276 you would need bigger jets at sea level, think of it like this more air means you need more fuel to keep your air fuel ratio where it should be.

  • Fuck yeah, I'm going to try that tomorrow!

  • i have a twist throttle on mine and i have no lag. BUT ALOT OF PPL SAY IM CRAZY WITH THE TWIST THROTTLE...... IDK WHY

  • @Deansvideos123 twist throttle are ok but the people that have issues with twist throttles are seasoned quad riders MX riders have no problem with a twist throttle on a quad since they are used to gripping there bike with there legs.quad riders don't grip with there legs and when there body shifts it tends to cause them to twist the throttle more and posably lose control.

  • i just did the mod today, but didnt ride it yet, I noticed it made my thumb throttle alot harder to push....holy crap. Ray

  • @Raydelfa the zip tie might be rubbing on the cover causing it to be harder to push the throttle.romove the cover and see if it is easyer to push the throttle if it is you might need to adjust the zip tie like i have it in the vid.

  • how do you adjust the shocks. and what do you recommend for a 180pound rider that rides in the woods? hard soft?

  • @brandon184839 i am bad with recommendations for shock setups since it is all the preference of the rider.i personally like my suspension set up with springs for a 180-200lb rider and the shock dampening set slightly soft on the rebound and med to hard on compression.i personally weigh about 150lb.

  • Be honest naughty women here benaughtyman.info

  • could you just use a drop of superglue on the bottom of the screw where it touches the black peice?

  • @sgtdoink superglue is strong but doesn't hold up well to vibration or shock so i really wouldn't use it .

  • hi, just a question, would i need bigger jets at elevation or sea level? lets say theres the exact same bike at sea level and one in the mountain(elevation) which one would need bigger jets??

  • will this mod cause any damage to my 2008 yfz 450 ? did you do it to yours? how long did you keep yours like that? are you happy with it? Ray and what kind of exhust do you have?

  • will this mod cause any damage to my 2008 yfz 450 ? did you do it to yours? how long did you keep yours like that? are you happy with it? Ray

  • @Raydelfa i have been running this mod in my YFZ since day 1 and have had zero problems with it.i love how the responce of the throttle is better and no more low end bog.

  • Nice videos man. Can this work on a 2008 yfz. Thanks for the info.

  • @vipyfz as long as it is carburetor it will work.

  • hi, could you let me know how to install an aftermarket decompression plug?? cause my stock one burst...and now i have the aftermarket one from modquad but dont know how to install it..

  • i tried this mod it works great.on my quad i have jet kit[fuel mixture screw, pilot, main jet, needle]and k & n velocity intake kit.i tried this it worked great much better throttle responce better aceleration faster throttle.i have been running my quad in 30 and 40 degree weather and once in awhile it backed fire i ran at night it was like 40 and it ran better

  • hi, i have another question, but ist about jetting, my piston broke and bent my crank rod because of running to lean, i order the big bore piston and going to bore my cylinder, 478cc, atm ive got 42 pilot and 158 main, have my air/fuel mixture screw 2 turns out...so i have a rossier exhaust and a stock airfilter and might get the k&n but no lid....would you have any idea what jets i would need? ohh and its mostly 40 degrees celcuis where i ride...thanks

  • @uae3276 ti is a little hard just to throw you some jetting # because there is alot of factors to take into account when jetting your bike/quad.

    1 altitude

    2 air temp

    3 humidity

    4 mods

5 a few other things but 1-4 are most important

it is always best to start out with a rich setting and slowly move 1-2 sizes on the main leaner till you got it just right.

  • @Tooextrememx yeah i heard, but i bought my exhaust second hand and didnt get any jetting info aswell as the big bore kit, so i would apreciate if you could give me a ruff estimate of what i would need for sea level,30 degrees celcius,20-60% humidity and k&n filter with big bore and rossier exhaust. any idea? thanks

  • @Tooextrememx there is a jetting calculator google it its pretty good base where to start

  • hey i did this and it helped ..but it still bogs when i move the throttle rly fast when im trying to pop a wheelie any ideas? thanks for the vid

  • @a7xsyngatescustom sounds like you may still need to change the leak jet to a #35 and it should be good to go.

  • @Tooextrememx i did it to mine didnt really help may have to do that and get the fuel cover or even close the leak jet completely also check your jetting mine still bogs when i do that but my jetting is a little off since they ran race gas in this quad anyone know what io should run for a 95 octane compaired to 110?

  • @XxROCKSTARxX69 most people that still have bog after doing this mod should change there leak jet to a #35 the stock leakjet is anyware from a # 50-75

  • @Tooextrememx i did do the # 35 leak i think i may have to go back to the 5th clip and play with the A/F most of the problems people has is just they need to play with the a/f a little to get it spot on

  • @XxROCKSTARxX69 if you are on the 5th clip you need to rejet none of the quads i have worked on have been any farther then 2nd-4th clip any more and rejet is needed.

  • does this really work? just got my 05 yfz. its like new!! has that bog though. also pops when let off throttle on decel. Its all stock just has baffle out. a little lean maybe? Some help would be nice.

  • @StlRaptor yes this mod will help with the bog.you will also want to check the jetting to make sure you are not running to lean.

  • does this really work? just got my 05 yfz. its like new!! has that bog though. also pops when let off throttle on decel.

  • hi, quick question, i just installed a full rossier exhaust and my quad doesnt want to idle, i am at sea level and its around 40 degrees celcuis, i got my fuel/air mixture screw out 2 turns and my idle screw is the full way in....so my question is should i screw the air/fuel mixture screw out half a turn or in half a turn?? or what could the problem be?? thanks

  • @uae3276 What is the main and pilot jet #'s that are installed in your carb

  • ok, so i turned it half a turn in and idled fine, drove fine aswell. i went to the desert and it was very hot again today, switched it on and had trouble keeping it idling. drove around a few times, no hill climbs or anything and then just cruised and gave it full throttle....

  • @Tooextrememx suddenly the engine made this wierd sound like pop or somthine and the person behind me said there was black greish smoke coming out of the back :S now it doesnt start, it will still shift gears, and when i hit the start button it just keeps cranking with a clicking noise coming from the motor... any idea?? would it be the piston rings or what?? really need help..thanks

  • @uae3276 you could posably bent a valve or snapped something else in the cylinder.

  • do u have to replace it after a while or does it stay there for good?

  • @lelxh03 my friend has run his for 2 years now without it breaking or having to replace it.i personally change mine every spring since cold weather can cause plasticks to stress crack when pressure is applied to it.

  • what year is your quad? and is that one industries graphic kits

  • @kenrawling not sure exacly who the maker is.

  • great vid!!! helped a lot. just a question, when i go up a hill the engine tends to bog and die, or even when sometimes going on a flat land, it bogs and then i throttle or dont throttle and it dies.. and suggestions?? i did the zip tie mod, have the air screw 2 turns, i ride mostly at sea level and its around 45 degrees.. any suggestions, would really appreciate it.

  • @uae3276 did this problem just all the suddon start or has it been like this the whole time you have been riding it.

  • @Tooextrememx well i just got the quad so i dont know if it was there before, i have the slide needle on 5, i tried it on 6 yesterday but it seemed to then be worse, so would it be running too rich now and i should change it back to stock on the 4th one?

  • @Tooextrememx ohh and while starting i always have to give a bit of throttle even when it warmed up, the idle tho is fine once running.

  • @uae3276 try it on the center notch if you have to move the clip more then 1 notch in either direction you may need a differant main jet.

with the posability the jetting is off cuz on the needle it can make it hard ti start.try it on either the 3rd or 4th notch if it is still giving you troubles let me know.

  • @Tooextrememx ok, i put it on the 4th notch and starts now without me having to throttle a bit... i will try riding it later on today and will let you know... thanks for the help. for the cam mod, will i have to re jet my carb or can i leave it? if i need to re jet, to what? thanks

  • @uae3276 sometimes you don't need to do anything when you do the cam mod.

i have only had to change the mainjet on about 2 of the quads i have done the mod too all the rest ran fine with either a needle clip change or fuel screaw adjustment.

  • @Tooextrememx ok, ill do that mod as soon as i get a torq wrench....i tested my quad again today and seems to be better but still if i rev it to medium to high revs is bogs down when i let the clutch go. so should i put if even further down on the needle??

  • @uae3276 try going down 1 more clip position and let me know what notch it is on and if it is running better.

  • @Tooextrememx now it is on what it comes stock which is the 4th one, ill change it to the 3rd on later on today. another thing is that sometime while i ride and slow down and just hold the clutch it stays reving high even tho i dont have my finger on the throttle, only when i let the clutch go again abit while in gear it the revs go back to normal. any idea what it could be?? really appreciating your help since im not to familiar with 4 strokes since i had a banshee before.. thanks

  • @Tooextrememx i have the problem that when i rev the engine high when it is warmed up, it stays reved high even tho i let go of the throttle, only when i put it in first gear and ease the clutch the revs go down...any idea??

  • @uae3276 sounds like your fuel screew is turned too high try turning the fuel screew 1/2 turn back or forward to see if the issue resolves.

most fuel screew setttings should be about 2-2 1/2 turns from all the way in.you only want to be no more then 1 full turn from that.if you turn it more then 1 turn from the setting i stated above you may need to rejet your pilot jet.

  • @Tooextrememx i have got the screw 2 turns out, so would that half a turn make the difference?? and regarding the air screw would an engine need less petrol in hot countries and more air so there for i can put the setting more lean so on the 3rd clip? thanks for helping me out.really appreciate it.

  • @uae3276 yes 1/4 turns of the fuel screew make a differance because it is part of the pilot circut of the fuel system and only effects your throttle from 0%-25% throttle.

in hotter area and months of the year you want to run you quad a little leaner then when it is cold.i myself drop my main jet down 2-3 sizes in the winter months and on the really cold days i may have to move the clip 1 notch, but my fuel screew i usually only need to adjust about 1/2 turn to compensate for the weather changes.

  • informative video thanks. was re-jetting my 450 this past weekend and watched your video to make sure i did the zip tie mod correctly.

  • nice quad man

  • hey i need some help i just bought a 06 yfz450 . the battery is dead so the eletric start dosnt work.i tried pop starting it but it still wont start.so i tryed pop starting it with the battery disconnected and it fired right over. any suggestions on what do to and wonts wrong.thanks

  • @cr85dan624 it sounds like your charging system is trying to put more power to the battery them to the sparkplug. with this issue your only option is to try to charge the battery back up and see if it holds a charge if it don't you either have to have the battery conditioned or buy a new one.

DON'T RUN WITHOUT A BATTERY damage to the charging system could happen.

  • hey man i just got a 2009 yfz450. And what does that carbon fiber piece on your exhaust pipe do?

  • @AxRAMBOxA it is a heat shield so you don't burn the heck out of your leg if it goes near there.

  • @Tooextrememx Was it stock on your yfz when you bought it or did you buy it, if so where sis you get it from?

  • @AxRAMBOxA it came with the exhaust that was on my quad when i bought it used. The exhaust is a Leo Vince

  • have you ever had a problem with it breaking and then the throttle sticking?

  • @ParkerSav1 it broke on me back befor i made this vid but my throttle never stuck.

  • @ParkerSav1 alright thanks i just did mine right now.

  • Comment removed

  • @Razor61969 i saw you responce befor you removed it and Yes i am still running the ziptie mod on my quad i did in this video.the last day i did anything to my carb was the day i did this vid and it has been running with no prob since.

  • @Tooextrememx i removed it b/c i see you changed it to go through the left side instead of the right, but it says in the video, i just did the mod an hour ago and i just wanted to see if it would matter

  • @Razor61969 I have the ziptie mod done the way I explained it in the vid.

  • Good tutorial. Thanks for your help!

  • Where did you get your carbon fiber header guard?

  • @lukemaduke the guard came with my exhaust system it's a Leo Vince

  • Where did you get your carbon fiber header guard?

  • savin those nails for christmas or what buddy? haha great vid though! too bad my sled's carb aint the same. damn you mikuni.

  • @462ccLiquid i hate clipping my nails for some odd reason i just don't like clippers.LOL

  • @Tooextrememx haha, well at least they can come to good use in some situations. I got a couple buddies that hate clippin their nails too. I always rag on 'em for it till the rare occassion they actually do get rid of 'em. no hard feelins but I almost thought you were a cross dresser hahaha. btw you could you point me into the proper direction for custom rebuild kits? my 377 is an oversize bore (set up for racing) and I cant find the proper crap...

  • hey i was going to do this to my 06 but when i pulled the cover off the carb the black lever was not moving you haqve any thoughts on y that is

  • @sunlovingchris does ur quad run at all? lol

  • @462ccLiquid ya runs great

  • @sunlovingchris if you can send me a pick of the side of the carb with the cover off and the throttle at full or send me a short vid of of the side of the carb with the cover off while you are hitting the throttle.you don't need to do this with the quad running.

  • @Tooextrememx ok but is there a reason y it would be doing this

  • Working on your quad in the grass with leaves, lol priceless!!

  • @tonyinfinity you turn a wrench anywhere you can lol. i have had to put a timeing chain on my friends quad while it was still in the creek cuz we couldn't pull the quad out by hand.

  • hi does this work for dirtbikes? (my 2001 yamaha yz250f)

  • @Colin15to5 this works on anything with the FCR carb with AC pump though the birtbikes might not benafit from doing this mod as i have never tried it to find out.

  • mines next, who needz fuel injection lol

  • THANK YOU. I have some work on mine and this bog was pissing me off and I could not stop it until I saw your vid.

  • Wow thanks all i was surprized to see that one of my vids broke 10,000 view.

thanks all and stay tooned more videos coming soon.

  • Hi got 07 yfz450 i did the zip tie mod and it still has the bog there was no change in the throttle can u help me out

  • @JAYLEFEVER Make sure there is no slack. The AC pump lever and the throttle should move at the same time with no delay when you snap the throttle full open. If there is no slack you might wana change the leak jet to a #35 I will post a reply with the yamaha part number when I get home.

  • good vid worked great the only thing is the really small zip ties dont hold had to use a medium one but def has more of a kick now and no bogging at all even with the stock filter

  • @XxROCKSTARxX69 some people have used wire instead of zipties.

  • Nice video. I did this yesterday and finished it in about 20 mins. 1 more tip for those of you who plan to do this, unbolt the brake resevoir from the frame and unbolt the resevoir hose cover from the frame as well, this will give more room to get the the throttle wheel and actuator to install your zip tie.

  • this really helps me alot i have been trying to fix this since i bought my quad new in 05 the dealer kept telling me to bring it in and they would fix it but they never got it right and then they told me it was supposed to be like that so i kind of accepted it then my friend saw this video and told me about it thanks again its a big help

  • @cumminsfanatic glad the vid helped

  • Thanks for the video. I just did the mod on my YFZ and the throttle response is a lot better!!! Question: I heard nothing but good things about this mod, but I did read on a forum that it might be bad for the transmission. Apparently it decreases the life of the tranny??? Do you have any input on that??? I just don't want any problems later on...Other than that great video!!!

  • @JJTYFZ450 i don't know where they are getting there info but they are 100% wrong i have worked on bikes and quads since i was 5 years old and have never had tranny damage from modifications done to my fuel system or fuel dilivery system so dont be worried about anything like that happening to you quad.if you could pleas send me a link to that thead on the forums you saw that on i would be interested in finding out what other false statments are being made there.

  • @Tooextrememx I just tried looking for forum / thread, but I can't find it. Once I do I'll send it your way...thanks for the info

  • glad to help i have found a few forums doing scare tactics on people to get them to take there machines to a local shop to have work done that can be done by a normal person with no real mechanical skill so any time you come across something that just don't sound logical alway ask around there is always someone that will give you a more logical answer.

  • Great vid just did the mod to my 07 yfz..thanks for the informational videos

  • thanks for the vid i heard of this mod but never seen it awesome

  • @yfz450lover thanks. i had the same problem so when i got it all figured out i decided to make this vid to help others out.

  • Good video, I'm going to do the same thing to mine

  • whens this beast runnint?

  • i am hopeing to have it back together this week.i will do a video once she is all done.

  • I have a GYTR slip-on, with a stock header pipe. Even without touching it, my leg will blister. I don't hug my quad, and try to keep that leg as far away from my header as possible. I've been looking into getting a heat shield for it, but don't know if I can fork over the price without knowing how awesome it works.

  • you might wana look into heat wrap it is cheaper but might not look as good.

  • @Pack121: I've got blisters on my leg from the heat off the header pipe too. Have you put some bigger jets in your carb? I put a dynojet stage 2 jet kit in mine and it runs a little cooler now.

  • Does it stop the heat real well? What kind of exhaust do you have?

My exhaust on my YFZ will blister my leg on a full day's riding in the trails, without touching it.

By the way, love the video. 5 Stars

  • i have a Leo Vince exhaust on mine and never burnt my leg.

i actually have been wondering how people manage to burn there legs cuz mine is never near any part of the exhaust.i will have to look into this problem and see what i am doing differant then everyone else.

  • maybe if you people would invest in some ridding boots you wouldnt have that problem.

    lamos

  • some people that have been burnt have been wearing riding boots.i think it is more along the lines of improper body position while riding that is causing the burns.

i will be doing asome rideing tip videos within the next few weeks since the weather is getting better.i just have to put my quad back together.

  • true that

  • What kind of heat shield do you have on your header pipe?

Does it help? Where'd you get it?

  • the heat shield on my header is carbon fiber and it came with the exxhaust system that is on the quad.

i havent been burnt yet by my exhaust.

  • i was told by alot of people that it was caused by the jet in the carb being too small but this is worth a try, good video and i will let u know the end result!

  • changing the leak jet helps but the cause of the bog is the lack of additional fuel during hard acceleration.with this mod your Acc pump kicks in at the exact same time you hit the trottle giving it the added fuel when needed without a delay.

  • Sick plastics

  • thanks i am actually thinking of updating grafix this summer.

  • very informative and good detailing, props on vid and awesome looking quad

  • I did it and it is alot better now for sure. I just didnt know any better from stock. But now the throttle seems a little stiffer, anyway I like it.

  • thanks man im gonna do this, i never could figure out why it would cut out when i tried to stand it up from a dead start, but now i know! This should be easy, im all familliar with the throttle assembly because i installed a twist throttle on mine. Can't wait to try it. 5 stars!

  • great video, very informative and helpful!!! will definately be doing this very soon!!! 5 stars!

  • Thanks for the great comment and glad the vid helped to show you how it is done.

  • hardcore for doing it in the rain. im gonna do this to mine tonite. I never really notices a bog since im almost always on the gas but it does sputter at low rpms

  • yea the low end sputter is what this mod fixes.i didn't have much of an issue with mine befor i did the mod but after i did it i notice the diff in bottem end WOT responce.

  • im going to do it tomorrow to see the difference. I heard of it but never figured out how until now. Good vids

  • yea i looked everywhere and noone had an actual video on how to do it so i threw one together.

  • Well I already rode it a little and it seems to run and start fine so I think I'll be fine.

  • Do u have to rejet if u do this mod?

  • jet is not really required but i would still dbl check your jetting by pulling the plug and looking at the color of it after a little riding.

  • Hey thanks for making this video. I just got done doing this to my YFZ. I noticed a big difference.

  • ight thanks again!

  • antoher question wat would i have to rejet? cuz it says rejetting carb and other stuff like tht so which one?

  • @StankiiRiders there are 2 jets located in the float bowl of the carb one is the main jet and one is the pilot/slow jet both of them may need to be changed out when jetting, but again you will need to research how to do this or have someone that knows how to do it do it for you cuz improper jetting can cause damage to your engine.

  • ight thanks!

  • @StankiiRiders no prob glad to help

  • and i know this is a dumb question but how do i rejet my blaster?

  • @StankiiRiders yes you could take the lid off and leave it off but you would have to be carefull when riding threw water.

rejetting you blaster is just the same as rejetting any atv or motorcycle.if you are unsure of how to do it you can type jetting in the search and there should be a bunch of videos showing how to do it.if they don't help you may want to have someone that knows how to jet a bike do it for you.

  • oh well would i be able to take the airbox lid off and leave it off

  • would it work on a blaster? and also if i do this anf take my airbox lid off would tht be bad and would i have to re-jet it??

  • @StankiiRiders blasters don't use the same style carb so you wouldn't be able to do this to it.

removing the airbox does increas the chance of getting water into your system and if you removed the airbox lid you would need to rejet because removing the lid increases the air flow into your engine.

  • Hey when ya gonna do a jetting video. ? Thanks

  • a jetting video is a little dificult to do because differant parts on differant quads can require differant jetting specs.

the video would be a basic what jets to remove and replace, but i would not be able to give jet sizes because of all the factors that cause differant jet selections.

i have been thinking about a how to replace the leak jet vid because that is the only jet that can use the same size no matter where you are or what u have on your quad.

  • Sharp bike man.

  • thanks

  • Will the leak jet require anymore mods for it to work correctly. For instance changing any other jets, or adjusting air fuel mixture screw?. Thanks! My elevation is about 1500ft. And running fmf powercore 4 with lid off.

  • i don't think it will, but you should always double check your plug to see if rejetting is needed any time you make any changes to how your quad runs.

  • where did you learn this mod??? because we had it done to your yfz450 about 2 years ago and the guy sounded like he was the first one to know about it?

  • i actuall figured out this mod when my friend brought me his brand new 04 yfz450 that he kept taking back to the deal because of the bog.i figured the bog was because the carb didn't give the engine enuff gas when giving it hard throttle.we tried a few differant jettings but none would work.then one day we noticed the slow movement of the AC pump arm and used an oring to make it move with the throttle and the bog got reduced.i was then told about using a zip tie instead of an oring.

  • Ok is it the jet that's accessable from the bottom bowl screw. also What is its number stock? Thanks much!

  • when you remove the float bowl look inside the bowl and there is a tiny jet in the service manual it is called an accelerator jet on my quad the default jet was a 50 i actually had to use my kids microscope to see the number on the jet cuz it is so small.just remember the jet can only be accessed if you remove the float bowl completely because it is inside the bowl itself.

  • which is the leak jet? you have a pilot #42, pilot air #100 and another jet just called a jet which is a #90....thanks!

  • the leak jet is the tiny jet in the float bowl itself.you can only order the part from yamaha and this is the info needed to order the jet.

    #35 Leak jet part # 4JT-1494F-01-00
