I have a 2.5 gal tank. Introduced 5 cherry shrimp. My crown tail betta has tried to pick once or twice, but the shrimp jump away. The betta is still small and not sure if its food yet. Since I removed 3 of the smaller shrimp and left 2 bigger ones, so far so good. Perhap's adding a small floating mirror thingy may distract the betta and loose interest in the shrimp. Then again, it might make it more aggressive and go "Mike Tyson" on the shrimp. And eat their chilrin.

@shadowfaithx Thats good, since ghost shrimp have been known to eat betta's tails. If your tank is large enough you can try some snails.
