  • im going to replace both clutch and slave on an 02 audi a4 any advice thanks

  • alright Scotty, I spent 2 days trying to figure this out. I installed the clutch master cylinder and clutch slave, after the install and everything i have someone with me pumping the pedal but up to now I don't have a pressure on the pedal. Did I miss something before the install? Please Help

  • @jcm724 na, some are just hard as hell to bleed. In such cases, I use phoenix injector, see my video "how to bleed brakes on your car" by typing that in the search on the scottykilmer channel. Same tool to do clutch

  • scotty, do u have to cover the reservoir while pumping the clutch pedal

  • @jcm724 na, I never do. Just don't fill it all the way to the very top so it doesn't spill

  • hi Scotty, is there any way you can adjust master cylinder or slave cylinder to change grab, release point in acura tsx 2003. Thanks.

  • @quocvbien yes a nut and rod are on the end you can adjust under the pedal

  • Hi Scotty i got my car service this week and they told me my clutch is biteing away at the top, what does that mean as they said it needs major attention, they even said to fix would be 950.00

  • @Soul7Patrol they want to put a new clutch in, if it's not slipping when accelerating fast, live with it. if it is , replace it

  • @scottykilmer it works fine with accelerating, what do u mean by slipping? it does make a sharp little squeaky nose when i push and change gear

  • Thanks Mr Kilmer it work big time save me $113.39c Happy New Year you and your Family.

    BIG BEERS

  • Lol that ending was funny!

Uh! Best part of the vid

  • thanks scotty! i have this celica st too so its nice to see videos that look exactly like what i'm about to do.

  • hey my cylinders are not leaking and but i think i might have some air in the lines somehow. which should i try to bleen the master or slave cylinder? thanks!

  • @TheDsmGuy08 go ahead, but if they have air, then they are leaking cause air gets sucked into leaking seals.

  • Hey scotty,

My clutch pedal went straight to the floor when i was driving, but i just pumped it a bit with my foot and it went straight to normal, I've been using it for a few days and it has stayed normal. Cylinders dont seem to be leaking. What to do?

  • can you bleed a clutch with a vacuum pump?

  • @xxxninjaspartan sure, if you can hook it up right. Scotty

  • hi. I have a 95 honda civic. We cant find a gear anymore, we use to beable to find 2nd and reverse but now it wont find anything... the clutch goes right to the floor as you said...what should i do, thanks

  • @VoisinProductions replace the clutch master and slave, but start with the slave first, it's easier and may fix it. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer ok i just checked one of the slaves and there was no fluid in it... it was the one on the right if you are looking at the front of the car

  • Man when he says "uh" its hilarious, and when his hair bounces haha

  • Hi Scotty,in my 98 celica when i put it on reverse gear,i push the clutch to the floor but i get a really annoying sound(like if you try to put it on gear and you dont press the clutch),other gears(first second etc) are fine, just a bit hard,i was told to change the whole clutch. What do you think?.

  • @UltrakupraRebirth If the hydraulics have no leaks and are hard, replace the clutch. Scotty

  • I have a 94 accord, and i dont know whats wrong with my car, when i rev the engine,it wont go past 3000rpm,can you help me??

  • @DJSWEET214 a clogged cat can do that, as can a weak fuel pump or clogged fuel filter. Check those first. Scotty

  • What if your clutch slave cylinder doesn't have a bleeder valve?

  • @TRcustomengineering then bleed it at the line where it screws on the cylinder. Scotty

  • hi there, there is something wrong with my honda del sol crx. the problem is that when i press down my clutch i dont think it engages because when i try putting it into gear, its very hard and it doesnt go into gear. i have tried starting it in gear but it justt goes forward and turns of. i just changed the clutch master cylinder and bled it a few times. it was okay for abit and then this started to happen. when i try pushing it into gear it slowly moves forward. do you know what could be wrong

  • @Chuniechand change the slave cylinder and be sure to bleed all the air out as in this video. If that doesn't do it, time for an expensive new clutch pulling the tranny off to do it. scotty

  • Scotty, I had my master cylinder replaced a few months ago and today my car won't go into gear. When the car is on, the stick won't move but when it's off, I can move the stick freely. I have a 1990 Honda Accord. The clutch has no tension, but it is not laying on the floor. Where is the slave cylinder located on my car and is this a DIY job? Thanks! I'm a big fan!!

  • @BabyBeyonce09 yea, that' an easy job to replace the slave, it's on the front of the transmission right where the tranny bolts onto the engine. If it's not that, then you need to pull the tranny and put a new clutch in. Scotty

  • YO SCOTTY, I GOT A 94 HONDA ACCORD,WHEN EVER I PUSH DWN ON THE CLUTCH IT STAYS DOWN AND I CANT PUT IT INTO FIRST GEAR,THE ONLY WAY TO BRING THE CLUTCH UP IS TO PULL IT UP BY HAND AND IT STAYS UP,A COUPLE DAYS BEFORE IT STARTED DOING THIS,MY CLUTCH WAS GETTING EASIER AND EASIER TO PUSH DOWN.MY CAR WOULD SOMETIMES SMOKE FROM DA BOTTOM BECAUSE AN OIL WAS LEAKING ON TO SOME HOT PIPE OR SOMETHING,BUT I DONT WATS WRONG WITH MY CLUTCH. CAN YOU HELP??

  • @DJSWEET214 Change the clutch slave cylinder and the master IF the slave doesn't fix it. Scotty

  • Comment removed

  • i put a act stage 2 clutch in my car and it screches when i ingage in first gear so i thot it was the CM and SC so i canged them and it still screeches it only does it when it gets hot or after the car is driven like ten min, i dident drive the car for like two days and the cluch worked perfect real graby but after like 20 min of driving it started screaching agen and the clutch is never consictent it grabs at difrent spots all the time its real fustrating can any one help?

  • @aliisathug It you didn't change the flywheel or have it resurfaced, it's probably that. OR, you got a crappy kit or you put it in cock eyed and now it's worn unevenly. Scotty

  • @aliisathug how many miles you been driving it since you change the clutch.....because you need to break in the clutch by city driving for like 3 to 4 hundred miles first....cause it happen to me...hope this helps

  • Cheers Scotty

    thanks for the video

  • Hi Scotty,

Is the clutch affected by engine rpm? At idle (in traffic) the clutch pedal will go to the floor and the engine dies (trying to move forward in gear), but when moving (30mph for example) the clutch works when the pedal is pressed about halfway. No leaks in the line.

  • @frankspace67 You have clutch problems, and will probably need a new clutch from you description. Scotty

  • I've seen it where you can use a hose and cup where the cup is filled with fluid and the hose attached to the bleeder, how well do these work??

  • @ndchevy not that well,Scotty

  • scotty i have to pump it up just like doing the brakes when bleeding it

  • is it very necessary to use a flare wrench instead of a regular open end one?

  • 2:33 fill the clutch cylinder with brake fluid??

dont you mean with clutch fluid? or is the same?

  • @Hebert6760 There is no such thing as "clutch fluid", they just use brake fluid. Scotty

  • Hi Scottie my cluch does not use fluid, but it is going to the floor and I can not get it in gear. How do you fix this problem?

  • @drakovampire Either your clutch cable needs replacing, OR your clutch is wearing out. Check the cable first. Scotty

  • that song scotty doesnt know has nothing on this scotty! your right about the slave cylinder i emailed you about. i looked and saw a dried leak going from the slave cylinder to a dried up puddle, now a stain, on my drive way. Im going to replace it some time this week once i get one of those long screw drivers :D Scotty always knows!

  • hi scottie have got any videos on how to remove a cv joint i have a vauxhall astra G mk4 1.6i 16v SXi

  • @DJ090680 Not yet, but I'll make one next time I change one out. Scotty

  • Ok, I found a bleeder valve in the front of the engine just in front of the radiator pointing at the radiator, this appears to be going to the big cylinder that I mentioned. I don't see another bleeder valve. Which one is this and is this the only one I need to bleed? Thanks again, scotty.

  • hey scottie I can't find the bleeder valves. I see two diff size of what appear to be the clutch cylinders, one is bigger than the other being the master and slave I assume, but I can't find the bleeder valves, any help would be greatly appreciated. f22a4 honda accord 91 ex.

  • Hey scottie, do you push the clutch in before you open the bleeder like brakes? Or is it the opposite like you're saying here? Thanks in advance

  • @holmesnmanning In the beginning, you open the bleeder first, then push down. But for the last bleed, push is down then open the bleeder to finish it off. Scotty Kilmer

  • @scottykilmer i have a 1983 Datsun 280ZX that i need to do this to...it needs brake fluid in the reservoir right? i cant find anything that says anywise, but all my mechanical expertise is on GM, and i dont want to mess this car up

  • @Texassince1836 Yes, just use brake fluid. Scotty Kilmer

  • wow this guy is good! straight and to the point! good video!

  • Hi Scotty. It's not a question about this video but I am planning to change my car's muffler to make it sound better.

But I heard that changing muffler without proper engine adjustment would damage the engine. Is it true?

  • @rb26dettsr20 Yes, it's not a good idea on any modern car to switch from an OEM muffler. It will often change the exhaust backpressure and end up messing with the engine air fuel ratio. My advice is leave it alone. Scotty Kilmer

  • @scottykilmer Thanks scotty.

Can I ask you one more question? I drive 2000 Nissan Altima with 5 speed manual trans. It makes rattling noise when I depress the clutch pedal. I changed the clutch about 5000 miles ago. I have no problem shifting gears.

    Is this something very bad?

  • @rb26dettsr20 Rattling with clutches like that are usually worn throw out bearings or worn clutch plates. As long as it works, live with the noise because the only option would be to tear the tranny off and replace the worn parts. And don't use that same company for parts again ( I assume you used a kit and replaced ALL the parts, not just the clutch disc.) Scotty Kilmer

  • GIANT SCREWDRIVER!!!! lmao

  • your videos are the best!!! very detailed and easy to understand, thanks

keep up the good work scott

  • Ha, I've used the same one man technique to hold the pedal using a piece of wood and the seat to press it forward on some occasions. I've seen smog techs use a cool ratcheting pusher that hooks to the steering wheel to hold the acceleartor pedal at a certain rpm. I'd like to get one of those.

  • On some cars there is not a seperate cylinder reservoir for the clutch as seen here. Rather it comes off the main master cylinder that the 4 brakes use, but the process and operation is the same. There are inexpesive seal kits to reseal your leaking slave cylinder (if inner bore isn't pitted) which I have used with success when the slave cylinder is pricey. But for most applications the entire slave cylinder is dirt cheap (under $20) and I replace them as a unit which saves time.

  • @TranceScene Yes that's true, but I never rebuild any I work on anymore. Because most are aluminum and they pit and kits last only months before they blow again. Scotty Kilmer

  • good vid

  • I like giant screwdrivers

  • @sbaker3232 They come in handy for lots of stuff (strangely enough I never use them for screws though.) Scotty Kilmer

  • That screwdriver trick is pretty slick.

  • On older cars the clutch is cable operated. I had to change out the clutch cable on my VW bus the other day.

  • amazing, how many celicas do you actually have?

  • @UltrakupraRebirth Two , one is mine, one is my son, but I also work on other's cars too. Scotty

  • wow!

  • deeng. scotty has rides lol.

  • @mtlh05 Idiot.
