@TejasRCpilot Nope. 3DHS planes are designed to not have any knife edge coupling at neutral CG or a bit positive CG. Joe usually sets his up to have a bit positive(forward) CG.
I'm curious as to what the engine setup is to be able to keep good power through the whole routine (I felt like I was watching an indoor 3D foamie flying for a moment). I thought one would have needed a brushless setup to do that (and Joe has some VERY good throttle control there). Outstanding work!
Planes fly because of Newton's F=ma. F is the weight of the plane, m is the mass of air which the plane is displacing and a is the rate at which the air is accelerated. Bernoulli theory helps to design the airfoil to be able to displace air efficiently, but it does not explain why planes fly. In the knife edge, most of the lifting force is coming from the propeller and some from the rudder and a body. Amazing RC flying!
I'd love to see a video of his hands/the control pad as he's doing these maneuvers. Maybe next time include that as an overlay! Truly spectacular stuff.
Never ever seen anything like that without a crash. I've seen people try it or do part of it but most of the time they stick the tail on the ground. Wow.
The video is good and all but I actually got to see this in person at the HuckFest in Hot Springs AR and the stuff he does is freaking amazing. I am pretty sure the first time I would have tried just one of the manuvers that he thinks is easy I would have put my plane back into kit form.
Wow!!! I just realized that I'm waaay too nervous for stunt flying. Simply watching that video resulted in a "pucker factor" 911 emergency. I'm okay now...the paramedics were able to successfully remove my cheeks from the chair. However, if the same thing happens to you, try a spatula first. There is nothing gentle about the Jaws of Life. Just sayin'
JohnVH541 that is called a pop-top and there are several versions of it with some coming out inverted and some coming out right side up and a few other twists.
He should be the winner of RC American Idol . LOL, But not Kidding. This guy, is hands down the best 3d Flyer iv'e ever seen !!! Great Job !!! this video is going right into my favorites.
