I have played alot of diffrent mmo's 8 total.

My latest MMO was WOW i played it for 2 years with my wife, it was a really good MMO.

But i did not like everything, like the pvp it was a bit boring.

I have played Shadowbane and if you compare it with WOW pvp, wow pvp is worthless, anyway the pve was awesome !

Well after around 2 years AOC came me and my wife just had to try it !

And i can only say OMG !

Its AWESOME !

One of the best mmo's ive played :)

I remember reading about the classes almost two years ago, and those classes did exist. There were originally 18 classes, I think, but after enough beta response saying that some classes weren't different enough from others to warrant both, six or so were removed.

I got this game and.. well.. it basicly sucked for me. The gameplay was awesome, but every time I came to a big city, say Aqulonia my FPS went to 5! So I basicly quit AoC until I get a better PC.

Putting the idea of the purple goat aside,serpent men would and a few other demihuman races would true diversity.Different abilities,and classes that would be unique to their race.Why just have humans,true they have differing classes and religions,but they look to much alike.Sure you go up to them and look at their faces,some are darker and wear different cloths,but they're still the same species.This game is pretty high fantasy,look at all the monsters,I hate games that don't let be both sides.

High fantasy is about monster races like Goblins etc, this game is closer to Robert E Howards original stories.This game is there for low fantasy, the monsters are few and far between, and serpent men were rare and under the comand of Thoth Amon so wouldn't realy be good to play as.Rember this is set in Earth at 10000 B.C not some fantasy land.

High Fantasy:large epic battells(lord of the rings)Clear cut morality.

Low Fantasy:More amoral characters,less fantasy creaters, gritty realism(AoC)

I've seen a good deal of monsters in the game footage,and considering that Conan is a fiction,one that has Serpent men in it,I see no reason not to have them as a playable race.True the lines of good and evil are not so clearly drawn,but there are always those who choose to be an extreme.The only culture I favor here are the Aquilonians,but even then I find it boring to just fight my own species.On the other hand,I wouldn't mind playing a bloodthirsty Serpent man,out to eat Cimmerian children.

This game is heavely based on the books, and if I can rembember properly the serpent men went that common, not like orcs in LotR or WoW. In Conans time they were just a legend with only a handful of them left. Also it would be unfair for the stygyians to be the only ones to have a playable monster! I think its good as it makes Conan stand out from all the over Wow clones with their Tolkein-esc wolds.

Oh well the game is out now,and I'd have to wait a year or 2 for an expansion to come out anyway.The game doesn't look all that great,but I would like to test it's gameplay to see if it lives up to my idea.I just think having a 4th faction would make it an Aquilonia/Cimmeria vs Stygia and the re-emerging Serpent men.I suppose though,that would only ruin AoC's sense of "no good and no evil",it would be setting lines.So much for eating Cimmerian children,you CAN'T say that wouldn't be fun.

AoC is very flexible, it runs on both Dx 9 and Dx10, and you can always scale down the effects so that it run properly on your computer. It is recommended with Vista, and a nice graphic card =)

They recently changed the classes, it is down to 12 from 14. The Lich has been added to the Necromencer, and the Druid of the Storm and Scion of Set have been combined to make the Tempest of Set. Now each race only has one choice for preists, Stygia=Tempest of Set, Cimmeria=Bear Shaman,Alquilonia=Priest of Mitra. Just thought i'd let you know, it was just announced like 1 or 2 days ago.
