I should have been a bit more specific. When I say edge, I meant microbevel. When I do sharpen convex, I moved through all of the various grits UP to 2000. I DO own a strop, but I just don't have it loaded with any stropping compound. I can get my blades to slice through paracord in a push cut, however, If i make a loop of paracord in my hand and try to slice through it without anything on the other side of it(like a cutting board), then it takes a lot of pressure to slice. I get a mirror . . .
@bigbubba5037 polished microbevel, but i just found that it wasn't really good for slicing. I was thinking that it was due to the fact that there were no microserations. Thanks for making this video for me! I really appreciate you taking the time to make it.
@bigbubba5037 Hmmm...ok...I previously thought microserations helped too, but now with a keen n well-stropped edge, I'm happier. Sorry for misunderstanding some parts of your comments previously. You're welcome bro...I'm amateur too...I've got lots to learn...won't end.... :-)
@bigbubba5037 Ah...hear ya bro....might want to try compounds on the strop, like Bark River's Black & Green compounds. Might want to try the White too, I have not.
IMO, the compounds really make a huge difference...I've tried without before I used compounds too.
@knivesandstuff You have to remember that the extra weight of the A1 is lending a greater ease to the cut than the F1. a heavy knife with the same edge as a light knife will always perform better in these types of tests.
@knivesandstuff True. But the F1 was indeed not as sharp when I felt the edge. I did some stropping with the black then green compound n now its game on! But yes, your point is valid too. Thanks!
great explanation - thx for that
all the best

You should upgrade that A1 to a ckc TrailBlazer in a thinner meaner chassis
