  • I would love to walk through a Toy R Us circa 1972. The awesomeness of those great toys would rule.

  • gay

  • That was a commercial?

  • Those two humans don't want to grow up, but if they did, they would be a LOT less creepy.

  • Kids nowadays are retarded, The Giraffe was the TRU Icon.

  • why do mascots always have talk as if they came off the short bus? lol

  • This had to be right after they changed their name. Toy's R Us's former name was Bargain Town.

The commercials shouted BARGAIN TOWN! BARGAIN TOWN! BARGAIN TOWN!

Anyone else remember this in the Chicagoland area?

  • @LEDRavecom A/k/a Children's Bargain Town USA.

  • It could've been a local commercial, like WGN only or something, in which case yeah it would've been simple and low budget. Still cool to see though. I miss the original store designs so much.

  • There are no words to describe this but pathetic.

  • eew

  • U OWE MY COOKIE AND 11 SECONDS

  • the giraffe was still recovering from the 60's. During the 80's he was recovered and did better commercials because the 80's were the height of EVERY TYPE OF NEW TOY IMAGINABLE

  • @retroventure I know...right???

  • @retroventure Yeah. They just showed up with a camera and a soundman at a local high school and said, "Roll sound, camera speed, action! Now just do something. That's good. Cut! That's a wrap everyone!" LOL!

  • Thanks for uploading this finally, Wookie Cookie. This is the earliest Toys R Us TV commercial I have ever seen! The earliest TRU commercial on YouTube was a Christmas one dated 1976 (The Toys R Us Time of year).

  • Still going strong, too. At least this week.
