Great tutorial! But I am stunned I am just stunned at how UNNECESSARILY OVERCOMPLICATED masking system is in Illustrator...

Its sooooo unnecessarily complicated that I'd much rather duplicate my object, and cut the holes or shapes using pathfinding.

No, seriously...tell me which one of those two is quicker and easier option for most of the projects...

Not sure if someone has posted this already but the reason why you have to change to rgb at the end to make the reflection is because the grey slider works in K as in CMYK. Black in CMYK mode is not pure black. Great tutorial.

Very nice tutorial, ill watch more of ur tutorials I just wanted to tell you that at the second part when you are braking the controller apart from its reflection you could have just made the white in the gradient more black. Just a tip.

The last part with the grayscale-to-RGB (so the mask becomes completely white) didn't work for me.

Photoshop is raster based and illustrator is vector based

it works in the exact same way, instead of using vectors you use pixels (there is one way to use vectors in photoshop but it is a little more complex)

Raster is using squares to create an image and vector uses straight lines. Vector based programs are better for making logo's and internet based images, and raster based is better for photo rendering.

Flaten Your artwork, add a sub layer with size that exatly match border. Select layer and click make/release clipping mask button.
