I don't have a problem with Vegans, but when I talk B12 they go all quiet. Still you can always get a shot from the doctor down at the Paleolithic clinic.
Then there is Vitamin K2, essential for turning on proteins expressed by vitamin D.
Best Source natto, fermented soy. I'm sure early man ate a lot of that smelly snot like substance. Other sources, all meat and dairy based. The more you look, the more pure Vegan does not add up.
I remember mentioning this book to a nutrition major when I was in college. She gave me an irritated look that I would recommend more work for her to do. She didn't care one bit that it was more relevant than anything else she would read in her classes.
Homogenised milk is the worst kind. It is milk forced through a fine mesh to break up the milk fat particles to they do not settle out of the milk. The milk becomes an emulsion. These fat fragments have been linked to heart disease.
Raw milk is just unpateurised milk. To be fit to drink it should be organic and derived from grass fed cow, preferably from a certified dairy, or a farmer you know well.
Before you read 'Nourishing Traditions' I would read 'Good Calories Bad Calories' by Gary Taubes, it gives the scientific basis for the advice and helps you first get your head round advice which is so counter to that in the media.
How the science was mis-reported so that nourishing diets where pushed out of from norm by the media and bad scientists alike.
Brilliant stuff, if we only studied Weston Price, our health would go through the roof. Of course, all the drug companies would go bust, so there's no financial incentive for Big Biz to spread the word :(
@TheJUNGLESURFER Funny you should say that. The only reason that YOU, and any of us have a brain large enough to argue with, is that we gorged ourselves on rich animal fats throughout our evolution.
Milk? I remember drinking quite a bit of that when I first arrived in this world. Sure, human milk is better than cow milk, but it seems many humans still have lactose, allowing us to easily digest it. Of course, we should stick to RAW milk for many reasons. See the WaP website for details :)
@EdLoveFilms well gorillas have a large brain and eat fruit and funny ive never seen a tiger doing rocket science they eat meat lots of meat what gives
@TheJUNGLESURFER this is not the forum to argue these things. Come back and talk with me once you've read Weston Price. Otherwise, there's not much point arguing, is there? I really hope you do. I was vegan for several years, then I read his work. Now I'm an omnivore again, as I've evolved to be.
@EdLoveFilms yes it is the forum ive read lots of weston price pottinger mercola for years they make me laugh check harvard study on primate brain development study evolution apart from weston price study darwin cuvier read ecologos dot org
another horrible chemical to watch is high fructose corn syrup, google fructose rats. It creates CAD, CHF, enlarged heart, gallstones, high triglycerides, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, fatty liver and cirrhosis of the liver. it is hidden , like MSG, in salad dressings and condiments, even Newman's Own sneaks it in! Watch your labels. i am flushing out gallstones right now and am watching the hfcs now. Also MSG CAUSES permanent obesity.
I never waste my time with doctors of any kind anymore. Why? They have never done me any good in the past except hand out pills. Besides, I never get sick anymore anyways. Perhaps it's because I followed the wisdom of my forefathers instead of arrogant doctors.
This book will never be required as medical reading because the medical field doesn't care about our overall health. They are only concerned with money. Our health care system is corrupted and our health is too.
I tried to loan this to a girl I know who wants to be a dentist and she didn't care for it! I was flabbergasted. This book should be a requirement for all medical students, specifically for dental students.
Dr. Douglass also wrote an excellent book: AIDS The End of Civilization. AIDS man made retrovirus introduced in Africa via WHO Smallpox vaccination program and in America via Hep-B vaccine targeting promiscuous homosexual males primarily in NY and San Francisco. Vaccines, additives, processing, pesticides; corporations making trillions off us while they slow kill population control. There are a bunch of Hannibal Lechters running the show.
@AFearlessAngel84 WestonAPrice doesn't sell anything. Quackwatch does a good job exposing quacks in the natural health industry but isn't at all sufficiently critical of the quacks peddling modern pharmaceuticals or the food industrial complex making health claims about their products. Quackwatch isn't the final word and as it is one man's expert opinion he can't be an accurate judge about everything he writes given the extraordinarily HUGE volume of content he publishes.
Topstot, what do your numbers mean? Presumably you're talking percentages of fat, protein and carbohydrate, but which is which?
I just read How I Gave Up My Low Fat Diet And Lost 40 Pounds by Dana Carpender. (I've known Dana for years, she is blazingly intelligent and a very nice lady.)
She wrote - You don't want to go an inch below 30 percent fat in your diet.
When I eat more sugar free yogurt and butter, I have more energy.
Carbs are more important to reduce than fat and cholesterol. Carbs turn to sugars. Douglass claims elsewhere that insulin levels contribute more to CAD than cholesterol levels (statins r dangerous). Observe that nearly all diabetics have accompanying CAD/heart problems. More grains, salads, organic red meats, reduce carb and sugar intake. Watch out of the aspertame and other artificial sweeteners. Not medical advice, just observations, consult your physician, etc.
i ve come to a mini conclusion that there are 2 schools of thought on nutrition that are vying for top spot (if there is such a thing). W.Price and the emergence of metabolic typing and Doug grahams 80/10/10, species specific diet. They overlap on many things but where graham is saying 80/10/10 for everyone price is saying maybe 70/20/10 here 60/20/20 there...any views on this?
I'm going to go and see if that book is at the library. I have read about half of Food Enzymes for health and Longevity by Dr. Edward Howell, who is referenced often in Nourishing Traditions, hence my curiosity. This is going to be the next "big" thing, I can see the tidal wave coming.
I got into arguments with my teacher in my community nutrition class about the importance of Raw Milk. I finally decided he was a mere pawn representing misinformation or that which is biased as most college professors are. Sometimes I think they just go into that profession to hear themselves talk to a group of impressionable youngsters whom they are given an opportunity to shape in their own image. It is like, some God complex.. Pathetic..

Quackwatch never met a pharma industry drug it didn't like.
It shills for corporate medicine.
Never, ever believe anything it tells you without doing your own research.
