if it don't then it wont work, an e-bow uses magnetism to vibrate the strings in a resonant fashion. but it might sound cool if it works!

just tried an ebow on my cello...much to my dismay, its wasnt all that impressive. The ebow is designed to sit on the two neighboring guitar strings, so to play it on the cello one ha to hod it above the string or kind of hover it above the string...i think if you figured out a way to make more comfortable to play, and you amped up your cello, you might be able to do some cool stufff....

You just hold it close to the string. It's a magnet (sort of) which makes the string vibrate creating an effect similar to a bow on a string, it's very easy to play

They don't. And as proof of that, they don't even have to be used on an electric guitar. =P They can be used on any string instrument.. including Piano, which is always a weird effect.

Add some expression with your right hand dude. It is not meant for holding it just on the spot. And turning down the tone knob might be a good idea. To get a more natural tone. And mute other resonating strings, please. :)
