just tried an ebow on my cello...much to my dismay, its wasnt all that impressive. The ebow is designed to sit on the two neighboring guitar strings, so to play it on the cello one ha to hod it above the string or kind of hover it above the string...i think if you figured out a way to make more comfortable to play, and you amped up your cello, you might be able to do some cool stufff....
that S series is beaut cant wait for my new S5470 to arrive, have you checked out a band called Bossk, we giged with them in my band Datora and they do some really interesting stuff with the Ebow
Look dude keep it up. There's no need to get in a huffy. I just wanted to let you know so that in future videos maybe you can have a little more in it. If you want to keep making videos like this fine thats your perogative but there's no need to get at me for trying to perform a favour for you, me, and the listeners. 35,000 views dude, you have to live up to something now. so, pretty please with sugar on top, use the other strings.
So why'd you ask? Kinda pointless, if it's so obvious, haha.
When I started playing guitar I was scared to use more than the "bottom" E string, and I was fully aware there were 5 more strings, like he said, he just started using an eBow.
Illiterate moron, the song is called "Jóga", that's Icelandic and has a meaning. "Joga" is not even a word!!! nearly unpronounceable, it would sound like a retarded American who can't speak Icelandic. We all learn your language, don't destroy ours. Loser, correct it or don't play our songs!
There are so many reasons why it doesn't matter. Welcome to Amerikkka.
Also, nice video. I heard a little bit of Joga (in b4 shit storm) in there, but mostly this video showed me how cool the infinite sustain on the Ebow is. suh-weet
Olafur chill out man, English is much easier to learn than Icelandic, In fact Icelandic is one of the hardest languages to learn in the world, as only about 600,000 people on EARTH are native speakers
Everytime someone spells "Jóga" with a regular o I will enlighten them with the wonderful knowledge you bestowed upon me. Thank you for benefitting mankind, you truly are a great person.
You just hold it close to the string. It's a magnet (sort of) which makes the string vibrate creating an effect similar to a bow on a string, it's very easy to play
They don't. And as proof of that, they don't even have to be used on an electric guitar. =P They can be used on any string instrument.. including Piano, which is always a weird effect.
Add some expression with your right hand dude. It is not meant for holding it just on the spot. And turning down the tone knob might be a good idea. To get a more natural tone. And mute other resonating strings, please. :)
I think i just had an eargasm.

can you use an ebow on a cello?
jimpendo 3 years ago
the ebow works on the bass and guitar so i dont see why not
itsGoboboy 3 years ago 2
does a cello use metal strings?
(i dont know if they do or not)
if it don't then it wont work, an e-bow uses magnetism to vibrate the strings in a resonant fashion. but it might sound cool if it works!

If you want a sound like this, you should learn the bloody violin and leave guitar to be played properly.

Some of the best rock bands in the world use e-bows, Smashing Pumpkins and REM to name two. So take you ill-founded, childish comments and piss off.

Fuck you dickhead. I use a real bow and oversized strings on a guitar with the intention of sounding like a cello.
ProblemAudio 3 years ago
So you want to sound like a cello, yet do not play cello :S Nvm.
leemasterfunk 3 years ago
actually, I'm saving for a cello and a contact mic.
as of now, a guitar is what gives me the sound I want.
ProblemAudio 3 years ago
so you don't really need a cello then, if the guitar gives you the sound you want
