I actually loved that thing when i was a kid.....i had battle arena toshinden and that one game with that metal gorilla............or maybe it was a raptor you could fight with......something instincts.....primal instincts I think it was called xD
Lol, they really went out of their way to make that thing look baddass. If they had put more effort into the system and had a little better technology, maybe they would have had somewhat of a success with the thing. I say "somewhat" because with the Gameboy and Gamegear dominating the market at the time, that's about the best they could have done.

a little history lesson on r-zone: when the game boy was released. atari,sega,and yes the r-zone, started popping up everywhere.the r-zone had a advantige over the game boy because: STAR WARS! yes tiger somhow got the trademarks and made like 20 games for the r-zone. well there goes all the fan boys we had soooooo much trouble getting nintendo! well nintendo still one. and then the gameboy COLOR was released! what to do what to do??? well then the r-zone SUPER SCREEN!!!!! bigger screen . wow
ok just curious. how come almost evrybody remembers the goddamned R-Zone but nobody seems 2 resemble the failed LCD line they introduced at the same time. it was called the Vrtx (i think thats the correct spelling) and it had a pop up light which shined on the LCD screen 2 giv a 3-D illusion 2 w/e game u were playin. my lil bro got a Vrtx 4 X-mas the same year i got an R-Zone.
@ShoTubular83 the Vrtx even had its own nacholicious (mad cheesy and corny) tagline similar 2 the R-Zone's. The R-Zone's tagline was "Step into the R-Zone!" and the Vrtx's was "Plunge into the Vrtx!" i kno im not so delusional i'm making up a fail game. i'm sure SUMBODY ELSE out there HAS 2 remember the failed Vrtx line of Tiger Electronics handheld LCD games (i dont actually remember which bombed 1st, the R-Zone or the Vrtx line)
OH MY GOD! I actually got that piece of shit for a X-mas present once (with an "MK3" (bullshit!) cartridge). I remember having more fun roleplaying with my little brother using that stupid headpiece than I did actually playing with the R-Zone itself. I remember I used 2 play it (well tried 2 anyway) when I 1st got it and my bro told me I looked like a wannabe Vegeta (noting how that dumb headpiece looks like a retarded redesign of the scouters from Dragon Ball Z).
