This is the maxima driver in the video. I got a new engine and the car is running like it should be now. Any of you local GXP owners still think you can beat me, and up for a challenge?

never quit if your behind... its called trapping me and a friend race out daily drivers just to shit around and i put bus lengths on him and the catches me by a car every two seconds till he passes.. some cars have terrible top ends where some have good. And to the other guy... you walk maximas.. dont set your standards too hight buddy.

man, any LS4, nonetheless a GXP with intake, full exhaust and a tune would easily have 330+ ... not alot of cars can hang, nonetheless make a good showing, ... nice video, hope you've got your car running proper again ...

I dont know why people are trashing your maxima on here so much, they are great cars and last a very long time. Ive driven them alot and they are great, and as far as everyone saying why do wyche even try....well.....why not, you dont exaclty look at the grand prix and think...hmmmm... I dunno thats a tough one. The only thing thats give my GXP away is the exhaust when I pull up, ive tried to get several ppl to run but they just wont lol. Check my vids to see what a GXP sounds like with exhaust.
@leeanator: cause it was a downhill slope, and i needed to rev my engine to get ready to launch.. it was easy for him to launch from a standstill cause he was automatic.. i tried to wait until the last possible moment, but the light took long to change, and i ended up getting a big head start.. not that it mattered since i lost anyway, lol.. but that was the reasoning for it
look at the head start the nissan had.... might as well consider it running the red light. u had a hell of a jump and still went home with L. not only that but the gxp walked right around you and kept pulling away as if u didnt exist. pretty sad and im sorry
My '02 Maxima 6 Speed went 14.0 @ 100 bone stock...that will outrun a LOT of cars..and that is what a 5.5 gen Maxima is capable of with a good driver..you can even search for the video if you like 2002 Maxima (stock record)
well no shit the maxima can beat the 3800 v6 cause thats about a 200hp v6 going against the maixima's fuckn raced out 290hp v6, even the gtp is only 240hp, but the gxp is 303hp

That went about as I expected. I'd bet that gxp has minor mods at best. And aren't downpipe's only used on turbo cars? Dropping off the turbofold / exhaust manifold, leading to (or possibly including) the cat?

yeah there is a GTX, its a GTP by SLP. just pretty much a "upgraded" GTP. go look. there faster than the GTP, not by much but they are. the GTX has a different pully i think and comes stock with a ram air hood and other shit.
There's no such thing as a GTX... there's GTP-240hp\280tq,..... GTP Comp C- 260hp\280tq and the GTP GXp with a 5.3 303 hp V8........ The GTP GXP which is the latest\last grand Prix which got replaced by the G8 (aka Grand Prix V8 in the technical sense) Was the fastest and would beat all model maximas from 2000 to 2009... The Comp C GTP was about an even race from 0-60 mph with the Max....

Pretty funny, this happend to me tonight in my 3.5 altima. I was like damn..had no idea..gotta admit I was impressed. It wasnt this bad of a beating but still I got beat and was damn suprised..thus why i'm here checking these gxp's out lol.
On a downslope a gxp would have a bit of an advantage being such a heavy car .. but i'm a GP fan all the way and nobody ever really expects the performance a 4000+ lb gxp can accomplish
'09 Maxima SVs are not that fast. My modded Alero smoked one off the line by at least a length and at higher speeds it got worse. That guy was so pissed....now I have a GXP and I can tell you it has more power than my little Alero and it will beat an '09 Maxima SV stock for stock. Hell, I smoke 350Zs coming home from work. Those are faster than a MAX.

I'm not a mathematician but 14.3 is faster than 14.5 and GXPs have been known to hit high 13's stock in some places. I have beaten every Maxima I've come across to include the 3.7VQ SV Maxima....CVTs are not too great.
I hate to break it to you, but that was a stock GXP Grand Prix.
Unless he was running Nitrous (which he most likely wasn't), there's only a handful of mods for the GXP, and he obviously wasn't running a cam.
You Nissan guys get walked on by stock Grand Prix GTP's, so I'd leave the Grand Prix's alone until you can afford a Turbo to go with that Coffee can muffler tip you're obviously running.
you are making us pontiacs owners look like biased ignorant assholes. GXPs run high 13s stock. This GXP seems to be a bit faster.... a tune does wonders for GXPs.
Not only that, but he's flat out wrong. I spoke to the guy at the previous light, and he told me what mods he had. I don't need a turbo to beat a stock GXP. My coffee can will do just fine. A stock GXP would INCH by a stock 6 speed 3.5 liter maxima at best. All the stats I've seen for stock GXPs put them in the low 14s
i have always loved the sound of the VQ motor, maxima was one of my favorite rides. But cant deny the GXPs are tough pickings. Sleep on one and they will put a good hurting on you. The new G8 GXPs run 13.0 @ 109mph stock thanks to the ls3 motor..and now some aftermarket tuners have turbo kits that allow them to reach 800hp+ *shivers*
i got an 08 gxp, ive raced a altima 3.5 b4, the guy kept staying beside after 2 lights i cought on to what he wanted so next light i punch it and we went to about 80 and he was around 3 car lengths behind easily, when he was rollin past me he was laughing in disbelief like"no way!" and gave me a thumbs up. GXP grocery getter = ultimate sleeper, mine has cai, flowmasters, upgraded pipe and all. BTW ur maxima sounds great! i love that sound.
Same here I just love Displacement on Demand. People who get DOD tuned out of there car are nuts......unless you really wanna get everything you can out of your LS4.

'99 and newer GTP's are 245hp., relocation of the airbox. The GTX package adds 20hp and tq.

Pretty funny, this happend to me tonight in my 3.5 altima. I was like damn..had no idea..gotta admit I was impressed. It wasnt this bad of a beating but still I got beat and was damn suprised..thus why i'm here checking these gxp's out lol.

On a downslope a gxp would have a bit of an advantage being such a heavy car .. but i'm a GP fan all the way and nobody ever really expects the performance a 4000+ lb gxp can accomplish

'09 Maxima SVs are not that fast. My modded Alero smoked one off the line by at least a length and at higher speeds it got worse. That guy was so pissed....now I have a GXP and I can tell you it has more power than my little Alero and it will beat an '09 Maxima SV stock for stock. Hell, I smoke 350Zs coming home from work. Those are faster than a MAX.

1/4 mile: 14.3 @ 98
I'm not a mathematician but 14.3 is faster than 14.5 and GXPs have been known to hit high 13's stock in some places. I have beaten every Maxima I've come across to include the 3.7VQ SV Maxima....CVTs are not too great.

I hate to break it to you, but that was a stock GXP Grand Prix.
Unless he was running Nitrous (which he most likely wasn't), there's only a handful of mods for the GXP, and he obviously wasn't running a cam.
You Nissan guys get walked on by stock Grand Prix GTP's, so I'd leave the Grand Prix's alone until you can afford a Turbo to go with that Coffee can muffler tip you're obviously running.

Not only that, but he's flat out wrong. I spoke to the guy at the previous light, and he told me what mods he had. I don't need a turbo to beat a stock GXP. My coffee can will do just fine. A stock GXP would INCH by a stock 6 speed 3.5 liter maxima at best. All the stats I've seen for stock GXPs put them in the low 14s

i have always loved the sound of the VQ motor, maxima was one of my favorite rides. But cant deny the GXPs are tough pickings. Sleep on one and they will put a good hurting on you. The new G8 GXPs run 13.0 @ 109mph stock thanks to the ls3 motor..and now some aftermarket tuners have turbo kits that allow them to reach 800hp+ *shivers*

i got an 08 gxp, ive raced a altima 3.5 b4, the guy kept staying beside after 2 lights i cought on to what he wanted so next light i punch it and we went to about 80 and he was around 3 car lengths behind easily, when he was rollin past me he was laughing in disbelief like"no way!" and gave me a thumbs up. GXP grocery getter = ultimate sleeper, mine has cai, flowmasters, upgraded pipe and all. BTW ur maxima sounds great! i love that sound.

A stock GXP would have no problem with a maxima. Too bad, GM cut pontiac, these are great cars. I get 30+ Hwy w/300+ HP with my LS4 gotta love DOD.

Same here I just love Displacement on Demand. People who get DOD tuned out of there car are nuts......unless you really wanna get everything you can out of your LS4.
