Yes - each actor is different. I, personally, was not a fan of David Tennant's doctor.

I feel that there has to be a certain level of goofiness because this is a show geared towards the family... and many young children LOVE goofiness... I know I did when I was younger and still do it now.

To sum up: I think goofiness is a part of the Doctor's character that should be universal, and if you go back and watch ALL the past doctors (not just the new series) you'll see that goofiness of some kind was included in all of them.

Entertainment IS a part of the show.

I got very frustrated by the time the specials rolled around and 10 was just weepy all the time... it was unrealistic to me because no one feels one emotion at a time. I think humans are more conflicted than that.

I totally agree, Davids doctor towards the end did become way to emotional and was like crying over silly little things. Personally I prefer Matt and also, goofiness in an ALIEN might I say kind of adds to the effect, it shows that there not human and everything works differently to him. Also it adds to the sense of humor, and humor often brings in more viewers. ;) xx

The series will probably go in a different direction because Moffet probably has ideas and concepts that he wants to get across that are different than RTD.

Remember, RTD tried to make a universal show that would appeal to the masses and do well.

Now that it is firmly established, Moffet is able to try new things and challenge the viewers and make us think.

I, for one, am EXCITED for the series' new direction!

David Tennant achieved a much higher profile from Dr Who, bringing him fame as a personality, as well as an actor. I think his next television part (which is imminent) will also be very well recieved and watched.

Personally, I dislike RTD, for me, the only good he did DrWho was to being it back. I find his writing boring, predictable, and completely conventional.

But I am also a student of English and Drama who is a bit schooled in conventions in those subjects :P

I agree. RTD is only at the best when he isn't damaging the old characters and monsters too much.

This first season was really good but after that he ran out of steam. Frankly the acting talent of David Tennant is the only reason the masses haven't realised he is a terrible writer.

I found that he oversimplified them... especially the Sontarans, Cybermen, and Daleks. That was annoying.

Plus, the Oood were a total rip-off of the Sensorites! I LOVED the Sensorites serial! :(

First season is my fav. Then fourth (because I love Donna as a character), then second, then third.

David = a physically attractive entertainer. Him as the Doctor kept people engaged, but now that a good writer and a new actor have taken over, I'm interested to see where the series goes!

I think the doctor isn't going to cover up his darker feeling with little spouts of humor like david's did. He was a darker doctor I thoughts. Just look at what he did with the family of blood. 10 was also very lonely & kind of a brooding man in the tardis Example: 9 was very critical of humans, Fast & Sad 10 Was happy go lucky until rose was lost he was pretty dark during his time with Martha & after Donna he was Alone & Brooding & Question himself & at end of Waters of mars Arrogant & Selfish

i think this is the youngest guy to play dr. who, i kind of like the idea of the character being a man and not one who still looks like a young boy, but hey he is cute and excited to see what he will bring to dr. who.

Well, the doctor has been slowly getting younger... David Tennant was young to take the role at the time.

Personally, I have a lot of faith in Stephan Moffet. I trust his judgment, and I can't wait to see how the character is! :)

well, the production team would not have cast him as the new dr. who if they didn't think he was good enough. so, yeah, excited too to see what he brings to the character. i have recently become a fan of dr. who with david as the doctor.
