How much worse do things have to get before this rocket scientist gets off of his brains and gets it in gear and starts DOING SOMETHING??? He is disgraceful and a national embarrassment. @MrMvt333 , when Reagan took office the inflation rate was at a staggering 12.5% inherited from Jimmy Carter. On Reagan's last year it was 4.4%. The unemployment rate was 7.1% when he took office and fell to 5.5%. Reaganomics invigorated America and contributed to the 1990's economy.
@k3304 stopping inflation had little to do with ronald reagan... most know that the FED helped but an end to drastic inflation by increaing interest rates... the FED chairman at the time was Paul Volker, a Jimmy Carter appointee...
infact if you look at unemployment in the 1970's... of the three presidents (nixon, ford, carter) the worst unemployment happened under ford, and then the absolute worst unemployment happened under reagan... but you're right that reagan inherited a mess
@k3304 that mess was created in large part by dismantling the Bretton-woods agreement... why did inflation occur, well when Nixon left the Bretton-woods system, on the advice of Milton Friedman, Printing money was no longer tied to Gold... We did this mainly so that we could pay down Vietnam War Debt.... Carter had very little to do with the economic conditions.... and his appointee put a stop to inflation....
@k3304 reaganomics was a terrible disaster, it created large deficts and put us in the whole we are in today... reagonomics is "starve the beast" cut taxes so low that eventually you have such large deficits you would need to cut government spending... Clinton's years we saw a raising of taxes on the rich... not reaganomics... the bush years continued reagonomics and like the reagan years ended in a financial mess, this one happened to be worse because of the 10 year and 30 year build up
@MrMvt333 , the banking crisis of 2008 was caused by Bill Clinton repealing the Glass=Steagle Act in 1999 before he left office which forced banks to loosen lending practices for low incomers.
@k3304 the bankinking crisis wasn't caused by the repealing of Glass-Steagal.. but it did contribute... but the people most in favor of repealing glass-steagal were the supply siders, reaganomics, and unregulated market capitalist.... i agree glass-steagal should have stayed in place... it didn't cause the mortgage crisis, but it helped... but your belief that this caused the recession, means that you are disregarding reaganomics which says regulation is bad...
@MrMvt333 , Clinton repealed Glass-Steagle Act and he signed the NAFTA Agreement which caused this 10% unemployment we have now. His wife Hillary, also, sat on the board of Wal Mart.
@k3304 okay... Repealing Glass Steagle was a reaganomics move... I agree with NAFTA being a negative to our economy, but that was agreed upon by everyone except Ralph Nader and Ross Perot... we have 8.8% unemployment today, and that's largely because we didn't regulate the derivatives market because alan greenspan had a religious belief in the free market... again reaganomics... his wife being on the board of walmart has very little to do with the economic collapse, or reaganomics...
@MrMvt333 , Hillary Clinton being on the board of Wal Mart while husband Bill signed the NAFTA Agreement sort of smacks as a conflict of interest. They also hold a large chunk in stock since he was govenor of Arkansas
@k3304 no it doesn't.... no matter who was in office NAFTA was going to be signed and put into law... every mainstream republican, every mainstream democrat wanted NAFTA... the only people recognizable to the public who didn't want it were Ralph Nader, Ross Perot, and Noam Chomsky.... now NAFTA had very little to do with the financial collapse, so please stop bringing this up when we are talkingabout the failures of reaganomics
@k3304 i haven't seen the numbers... but i assume that's what it would be... a dent... not the massive unemployment we saw due to the financial collapse and freezing of credit... which was due to lack of regulation, lack of regulation enforcement... both of which are products of reaganomics and it's brother unfettered free market capitalism... I don't like NAFTA, but that's not the biggest issue for today's unemployment... any more than our trade regulations with china, or south america...
@MrMvt333 , i don't believe that 8.8% unemployment figure. i think our government is lying to us. It's much worse than that. There's people who are kicked off the rolls. Our economy is in deep shit. Europe is in a shambles. And Japan doesnt help. either.
I wish Barry Soetoro would resign.

@k3304 this time into reagan's presidency unemployment wasat 10.4%.... ibelieve obama is ahead of the curve
reagan entered with 7.5% this time into his 10.4%
obama entered with 7.7% this time into his 8.8%
obama trumps reagan... wake up, obama is the best president we've had in 55 years
