Not bashing, Nintendo said so themselves. They cater to younger gamers (kids) and casual gamers, to whom graphics aren't so important. Naturally, the 3ds is gonna be graphically inferior to something that is released a couple years later, and whose goal is portable console-level graphics. 3ds never strived for console-level graphics. It isn't important to kids and casual gamers. A more colorful step above ds is good enough for them. So now you have n64 graphics with no more pastels.

Try the same game: compare Blazblue. Vita wins. Compare similar: mvc3 (3ds can't do that one without raping the graphics, sorry) vs sf4: Vita looks like ps3, sf4 looks like, well, this is the best we could do. Tekken on 3ds looks actually worse than psp tekken 6, which somehow looks pretty good compared to the ps3 version. Maybe if Nintendo got rid of that second screen for better graphic technology and a single screen w/touch...but here's the truth: N systems are always a gen behind, tech-wise.

This may be retarded, but the difference between the 3DS and the pre-rendered cutscene is pretty much the same. I have both the PSV and the 3DS and the difference is very noticeable. Is the 3DS any lesser quality than the PS Vita? Of course not. the 3DS is an excellent handheld and so is the Vita. Don't argue about which is better and just get both, as they both have their own unique set of features.

But, what i have seen running on the PSV, in real time (game Unit 13): Quite high detail characters, pretty good textures, dynamic shadows with full self shadowing/cascading, lens flare post-process shaders, bloom, SSAO, ragdolling, high detail light, other misc effects

So yeah, its a beast device and yes it can do what you said it can't.

Preaching to the choir here, but... Those are not real-time graphics on the Vita version. Clearly pre-rendered. Once you take that into consideration, the 3DS is even more surprising! The Vita has more advanced hardware, but all things considered, the 3DS should be able to keep up in the gameplay and immersion department. Great systems, either way.

All on 4-64MB cartridges. space is not such a big issue, considering the screen size and resolution of the 3ds. i'd say it's more about the actual graphical potential/power, that limits the system. but I agree, comparing ingame to cgi is really not fair.
