Steiner should of been on a Ric Flair, Sting, Ricky Steamboat level, the same for Steve Austin. When WCW had the Dangerous Alliance, that how they should of catapult Austin into main event status. He could of feud with Steiner.
The Steiners were so awesome in the mid-90s that they were ranked - in spite of being tag teamers nearly exclusively in ECW and Japan - in the PWI 500 in 1996 something like #7 and #9 best in the world. I know PWI is just a mark magazine, but it really indicated how great they were considered.
People that only remember Scott from his WWE run in late '02 -03 untill now have no clue how great he once was. If only he had his Big Poppa Pump gimmick & his ability from back in the early 90's then you would have a guy that could totally carry a company.
@TNO73 You have to remember that Scott Steiner was in the WWE when it was the WWF with his brother Rick in 1992. They were the Steiner brothers, and he did all of his signature moves just like in WCW. They came out wearing their Michigan jackets and everything. So, if you are old enough and watched the WWF, you would have seen Scott prior to the Big Poppa Pump gimmick in the then known WWF.
@TNO73 BTW my comment wasn't in anyway implying that you weren't old enough or that you didn't know that Scott was in the WWF back in 1992 rather I was just adding on to your comment for others to read.
These are all awesome moves. The clip in which Scott Steiner performs the Steiner Screwdriver... I've been looking for that match everywhere. I have no idea where to find it. Is there a way you could send it to me or otherwise send me a link? If you could send me the match, that would be great.
'exploder suplex' is really a t-bone suplex. interesting variation of the tilt a whirl slam. standing moonsault powerslam? is there anything scott steiner couldn't do? he was da man.
He did most of these moves his first couple years as BPP. Also, his "roid" stage was only 15 or 20 pounds heavier. The guy had been around 255 or 260 most of his tag career.
Persona wise, I prefer Big Poppa Pump. Stuff like doing pushups over your opponent and giving muscle head poetry about his prowess with the women made him much better than the "straight man" to Rick's barking and lunacy.
While I respect your opinion, I disagree. He wasn't as agile or as technically gifted when he was Big Poppa Pump as opposed to in this video. Don't get me wrong, he was still great. While his pump gimmick was pretty good, it was just one of the many going on at the time, and was no better than the others (NWO, Sting, Stone Cold, Rock, etc.). I guess what I'm saying is that the late 90's had too many gimmicks and not enough "complete" wrestlers as opposed to just entertainers.
The first two (which were last to be shown) were the best ones-I must confess, I grew up watching the Steiners and I don't know HOW I can't recall the Steiner Screwdriver-I thought it was more recent. Either way, it was good to see these excerpts again after all these many years. These are the cats-er, DOGS-that I remember from way back when!
It's sad that people say scotty sold his talent for roids, when his talent never went away and has always been very ripped/jacked. Did he do roids? I bet money he did considering all the injuries he's had and the time period in which he worked. The issue is he changed gimmicks/companys. Plus he got older. Scott is still one of the best, not a spot monkey nor a technical wizard. I'll take any scott match of the last 5 years over anything majority top WWE/TNA guys have had.
@theshooter2000 That is so true he was amazing back then. Now he's just one big botchfest. It's sad but I always try to remember him as he use to be. And not so much how he is now.
@SinestroCW you crazy! scott was a beast back then and even better now. He worked on his promo and that is what pulled everyone in to him and made him entertaining. he's the best old and new
I think that first clip was him and Rick against Hiroshi Hase and Kensuke Sasaski, in Japan 1992-1993. The best match i've ever seen them in together.
this is class i never knew he had this kind of offence in his early days, this is a great testament to what a great athlete steiner was in his early years, well done!!!
Never knew Scott was this great a wrestler! Only remember him from his NWO days in WWE, and in TNA. #3 was my favorite and was that good old JR doing the announcing?
Standing Moonsault Powerslam is just awesome and noone does a tilt-a-whirl slam like he use to do. Mike Awesome was really good at powermoves and had nice flying moves, but still wasn't close to Scott's suplex ability.
yea i dont know how much longer hes going to be around he lumbers down to the ring he can barely run but hes still my favorite...i did hear they sandbagged him in the wwe wouldnt let him do moves and they made him to inteviews that they came up with and wouldnt let him do anything on his own and thats what made his character so good..ive been watching the wwe or wwf whatever for 23 years and i will tell you it has NEVER been this bad it is so watered down and pathetic i dont even watch it
I agree with you that he had so many moves he should have a top 20, I just liked these the best. But I believe the Exploder is just another name for the T-bone, in which case it's here at number 10.
There's plenty of moves I left off that I didn't get in the top 10, these were just my opinion.
I wish all these fucking assholes on here that say scott sucked as a wrestler would fucking watch this and put there dick in there mouth because of the stupidity to even say something like that in his prime athletic ability and wrestling ability he was the fucking best
I have and all i ever t get into back and forth arguments witht these retard steiner haters and it gets old we all know the real deal about this guy...people that say that triple h was better should watch this fuck them
Well, don't waste your time with them then. If they don't know about him back then and aren't willing to learn a bit of wrestling history, then they're just being smarks, and there's no reason to really get into it with them.
If they've seen him back then and don't like him anyway, they should at least try to give a good reason as to why they don't like him...just not liking for hating reasons just means they don't want to learn and fit in with the haters.
people just really started bad mouthing steiner after his run with the wwe...because of triple h sand bagging him and im sure ric flair stabbed him in the back behind the scenes..but he he had drop foot syndrom and wrestled with out being able to feel his foot can your beieve that...one thing about him he loves wrestling and has a passion for it he doesnt give a fuck about titles let me ask you something do you think the rumors of him retiring are true?
They might be true...I don't know for sure. But I wouldn't be surprised if he retires soon, because his body just looks all beat up, just by the way he moves around in the ring and walks around. Don't know if they are actually true, but it wouldn't surprise me if he retires soon.
