Meth is a synthetic drug manufactured as a cheap cocaine substitute. If drugs were legalized in their natural forms, synthetic drugs like meth and ecstasy would likely diminish in favour of the natural equivalents.
Legalize and regulate some drugs. Heroin kills the user and that's that. So be it. Their choice. Weed makes you wanna kill... a box of chocolate Donettes Meth however, turns people into fucking devils, who can and do hurt others often. There are distinctions people. Not all drugs are harmless like pot. Some shit wont be able to regulated... Do you want the schoolbus driver to drive your kids all fucked up and down a cliff?
@33BMX33 You are an IDIOT. First of all you were the first one to write "Fuck Shit Up" so dont go off on him/her for writing the same thing while you cant spell "running". Secondly, if heroine was legal and controlled the addict rate goes down cause people wont wanna do things in government building they wanna do it at party's but they wont if its triple the price. Would you rather buy milk from your neighbor for triple the price or go to store and buy fresh milk from there Cheaper.
@33BMX33 oh so you just reply to what i wrote about your spelling and ignore everything else. What do video games have to do with this? Its ironic that you are calling me dumb...
what people keep thinking is that legal=good and illegal=bad...so thats why people keep holding off in legalization...because heroin is bad for you it should be illegal which is not the case...you het what im saying
Its not about its pros and cons, its not about crime and money. It boils down to a basic human right, which is the right to choose what enters your body. Its crazy how all the socialist media will show is the bad effects of drugs, what about the good effects? You know, like feelings of bliss, spiritual awakening, extreme creativity.
Liberals are funny, when it comes to trans fat and other unhealthy ingredients, they scream "Regulate it! Ban it!" But when it comes to Cocaine and heroin, "legalize it, why not?" Insanity is becoming more accepted in our society...
Street heroin is harmful because the garbage it is cut with destroys the body. At the time of its prohibition there were relatively few addicts, but the black market which ensued created a new demand (eg giving out 'free samples'). If addicts were provided with uncontaminated heroin for cheaper than the street rubbish, and instructed how to use without overdosing, it would seriously affect the illegal trade. It wouldn't immediately solve the problem but it would be step one.
I disagree with parts of this arguement... If illegal drugs are easy to get ahold of, bad people can always use them to sedate someone and kidnap them in silence. Or simply increase your dosage on a drugs trip and before you know it? Death.
But as the nice lady in the video explained: "Nobody has died from use of Cannabis." So it's quite clear which one should be legalised... Cocaine is... Fun... But too easy to overdose and become addicted to and ecstasy appears to fuck you up in the long run.
@canipplecorpse Your opposition to his argument stems from your belief that prohibition has made drugs less available which isn't true. All research shows that usage rates aren't correlated to legal status & prohibitionist efforts.Legalization doesn't necessarily lead to increased availability. There are 7 different types of legalization.Cocaine wouldn't be legal in the same way cannabis, alcohol, or other drugs are legal.Regulation is the key factor.Drugs should be legal because they're dangerous

I was forsed to go to court for a guy that stole my car, while in there for the state to make money off the crook not me, I even lost a day of work, felt like getting stoned. There was a guy asking the Judge for cocain help. I was laughing my ass off. We have medical marawana, and methadone clinics. So all drugs are legal.
I'm a highly modivated human and I hate it, so smoking weed simply slows me down to where I can think longer before acting, beer helps quench my thirst and get me modivated talking alot however it doesn't blind my eyes or thoughts the following day unless I drink 24 cans and I'm a skinny person, and wiskey helps me with pain. I'm sure everyone already knows this, we should have beer at work in vending machines instead of just pepsi products and raise ABV% over 7.4 instead of 0.08% to get a DUI..
I keep losing my lisence for drinking and driving, paying the courts for smoking weed, paying park rangers for being drunk in the wood when fishing and having a small camp fire. Why don't we start arresting people for drinking surgar water, and breathing to much air they drive like a nascar nut blabing on the phones reading a news papers jamming their radios starting tv shows, building highway robbery plans or just start arresting animals and leave the humans alone?
Premium Pipe Tobacco cost me 17.22 cent for 16 oz that's a lb. If I had a 16 oz bag of weed for 17.22 I don't think I'd smoke as much there for I'd be healthier who agrees?
Cenk is failing to realize that hard drugs cause crimes. I'm not concerned with the druggie's health, I'm concerned with myself getting robbed because they wanna support their habit.
Hard drugs cause crime because they are illegal. Addicts are desperate for money to feed an expensive illegal habit. If decriminalized, prices would go down and treatment options up, demonstrated by the drastic usage increase in methadone treatment after Portugal decriminalized. You are making a drastic error in logic by assuming correlation implies causation, for criminals are much more likely to use drugs, coupled with my previous statement that illegality causes criminality
I dont see why people are still drinking the coolaid thinking that for some reason the war on drugs will work. There is no proof that making it not legal has worked, there really isnt any proof that pot is more harmfull than what we have legal now(Cigs, Boos). In addition, like previously mentioned, when alcohal was illegal, people still got beer, and you know what, it was more costly and made more money for the dealers because they couldnt get it anywhere else. Please think logically, legalize.
I kinda agree with Ana. Im all for legalizing weed just because of the facts that it is not as harmful and all that. But im not really for the heroin, cocaine etc. just because you can get addicted to that and it has been proven to kill. But also Cenk has a point with the cigarettes thing. Cigs also kill and that is legal.
ILLEGALIZE ALL UNHEALTHY CONSUMERABLE SUNSTANCES PLEASE! the world would be so much better for it BURN OR TRANSFORM that shit into something better WHO"S WITH ME ON THIS!
"Are there medical uses for drugs like heroin?" - actually, yes, the medical-drug-name for heroin is diamorphine, and while it's not used in the US, it is used here in the UK, as an alternative to morphine. Sometimes it's more effective than morphine for certain types of pain, and sometimes hospitals here use it when their morphine stocks are very low. Heroin (or diamorphine) was actually first created by Bayer, in an attempt to find a less addictive alternative to morphine.
@SouthardJon your an idiot ! how can you say that, I have been smoking pot for 25 years , I havn't killed anyone or myself , not even the thought of it crossed my mind, so what the hell are you basing this opinion on ???
And usually, I believe that people should be able to make their own choices, but the thing about hard drugs like heroin and cocaine is you can accidentally overdo it one time and die, so it's a tough one.
stupid bitch doesnt realize Heroin is a stronger form of opiate 2 more molecules attached to the hydrocodone molecule make heroin...stupid bitch doesnt realize they do the same thing except strength
@imitalianbitch, yeah, that's certainly the right way to go about replying to someone undereducated or with a different opinion to you, calling them a stupid bitch... *rolls her eyes*
you hate the cartels? you want to stop murders and gang activities LEGALIZE ALL DRUGS people should choose what they should put in their bodies and the government should have no power over that !!
What doesnt make sense is spending billions on policing this, reparing the damage drug related crime causes, fighting the organised criminals who profilt from it etc etc etc, legalisation would at least reduce the degree of criminality involved and perhaps save a few lives. Another alternative is to simply take all dealers, importers, producers and repeat offenders in drug crime and render them down into bio fuel, that way they get a chance to contribute to society!
The problem with war on drugs is it is not based on scientific evidence we have about human biology as a social mammal. It is not the drugs that are addictive themselves but the neurobiology behind them. I mean all drugs from caffeine to heroine are stimulants for opiates and dopamine those chemicals makes us feel loved and motivated. Not all people are addictive types -only those withouth the love and security needed for heathy development of the brain.
I think I remember seeing a show about how Canada allows heroin addicts to go into a government building and receive their heroin there, do it there and as a result have lowered the crime rate.
@CriesCyanide There was a study done in the 50s where they received heroin, but I'm fairly sure all they can get is a safe place w safe needles to shoot up now, and only is some places in canada.
In the U.K until 1968 anyone could go see their G.P & obtain Heroin,& Cocaine plus any other drugs that people wanted & in many cases were addicted to. It was prescribed free on the NHS or a private doctor.Doses obtained were high hence action taken to stop this.DDU's took there place. Within six months we had the first importation on large scale of 'Elephant' Chinese Heroin. This was top grade heroin & sold from China Town, London. The summer of 1965 the Home Office Index of Addicts was 427
"are there medical uses for heroin?" who the fuck is this retarded girl? do you realize most prescription painkillers are opiate based (AKA HEROIN). morphine and heroin are pretty much the same thing. ron paul said it best, end the war on drugs, legalize everything. he had a speech where he asked who would go buy heroin just because it was legal? no one in the room. the fact is drug addicts dont care about the legal status of their drug of choice, they want to get high. any way they can.
nah I don't think legalizing heroin is a good idea because a lot of people who have thought about taking heroin on the street but decided not too because they felt uncomfortable about getting it from a drug dealer not knowing what was in it. If it were legalized I think a lot of people would fill out the paperwork to get high of heroin. Legalize marijuana and spend DEA resources fighting heroin and especially Methamphetimine because the toxins from meth labs poison communities.
First of all turn off you caps. Second I don't have to answer that question it's George Bush's fault if people take heroin. How does your question correlate to what I said.
@Noahthebeast09 NO, its people own fuckin fault they take heroin, alcohol is legal, but why isnt it tha governments fault when someone gets killed by a drunk driver?? is it tha governments fault when someone dies of lung cancer cause they smoke?? No...peopl need to start taking resposibility for their OWN actions and stop putting tha blame on others for their own stupidity. Fact of tha matter is people make a living off selling drugs because they are illegal, legalize and decriminalize drugs
DUH it's people's own fault if they take anything I was being sarcastic about Bush. What are you talking about I don't even understand half of your ranting and stop giving me that double question mark that's another annoying thing about people on youtube. And I am for legalizing marijuana I am concerned at how full our prisons are but I do not support legalizing heroin I'm sorry there would be an explosion in sales from people who would have been to scared to buy it otherwise would there not?
@OdinLowe That is going a little to far "There are medical uses for all illicit drugs" Crack or cocaine wouldn't help with anything. Yea LSD and mushrooms can help with lots of forms of anxiety and depression but crack, meth, coke, and PSP are bad. People have and do freak out and hurt them selves and others around them and is way to addictive. Like with PSP people have eaten other people and mutilated them selves when on it.
crack cocaine has yet to be shown as useful, but there are many uses for cocaine... One of the founders of Johns-Hopkins was addicted to opiates and/or cocaine his whole working career, and one of the breakthroughs he made was discovering cocaine can be used as an effective local anesthetic. Education; get one... Or, if you prefer take my word for it but it is the truth. When it comes to medicinal uses for drugs our imagination is the only limit.
@OdinLowe Is that why people have had there noses fall off died and had organ problems. It's extremely addictive. I had a mom that was on coke. I have a lot of different types of drug addicts in my family i did the research and experienced it.Coke is something that should be decriminalized and people who get caught using it should get medical attention. People have freaked out on coke thinking other people are trying to kill them and have hurt people around them. It's paranoia isn't like weed.
@nowwithmorekick Cocaine psychosis is a well recorded phenomenon... And since you have addicts in your family; I'm sure you know as well as I that drugs tend only to make unhappy people into addicts. I know people who have used crack cocaine and regular on and off every other weekend for over a decade... It's the person and not the substance which causes these problems. It has been known since Freud's day that a small/moderate amount of coke taken infrequently is not very addictive.
@OdinLowe Is that why people have committed suicide from the with drawl of coke. It can cause terrible pain and depression. To avoid this you have to take it more and more often until it ether kills you or causes your nasal cavity to rot where you look like a ghoulish thing. I seen people go into detox and start foaming at the mouth slamming around in padded rooms in pain freaking out. People will have homicidal tendencies because of how it messes with there mind.
@nowwithmorekick Nasal rot is almost unheard of with pure cocaine... The main reason why it occurs in the US is because it was recently discovered that 80% of the US Cocaine supply was cut with a veterinary animale heart-deworming drug, which causes rotting of soft tissue for humans in areas of contacts. People commit suicide from withdrawal because of the necessity to stop. In a better world they would have legal access to their vice for cheap and would still be fairly productive in society.
@OdinLowe The only difference between crack and coke is that crack takes you down faster. They have a lot of same effects. Crack was a cheap way to imitate coke for people who couldn't afford it.Crack is made with more chemicals then coke where coke is partly made from a natural plant and then mixed with very harmful chemicals. The coka plant it's self isn't really harmful but coke is. It's very harmful. It causes organ damage and effects the serotonin in the brain that can cause to depression.
@nowwithmorekick Thanks but I'm quite familiar with the reasons people make crack; and while what you say is true of much cocaine the very finest is made with a minimum of chemicals; it's known as 'the pearl' for its colour and consistency when a small amount is in your hand. while it's true the serotonin receptors can be damaged it doesn't do so any more than with caffeine and nicotine, which affect the brain in much the same way.
Both of you are ignorant about drugs.Cocaine HCL is what you call cocaine. Cocaine freebase (aka no attached salt) is what you call crack.Cocaine is extracted from coca plants, and it is a pure chemical, unless it is improperly extracted or cut.Cocaine is a MAT blocker so increases the concentration of the neurotransmitters (from greatest to least) norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin in the synapse. It is dangerous because of vascular constriction coupled with a high heart rate
.... and down regulation of DAT, which causes anhedonia, depression and other severe psychological/ physical ailments. However, the things it is cut with are much worse, ranging from other powerful recreational stimulants like amphetamines, mephedrone and buphedrone to evil cuts like levamisole, which kills people by drastically lowering white blood cell count.
@OdinLowe Your crazy. And the fact that you talk the way that you do about coke i am pretty sure you don't even do it at all. There were big Coke problems in the 70s and because of it's purity people were dropping off dead at an extremely high rate. Woman often whore them selves out to keep doing coke.Woman that wouldn't have done that if they had just smoke Marijuana.
@nowwithmorekick I have done it, not in excessive quantities but enough to know the effects and appreciate them. Cocaine was cut more in the 70s than it is now on average. Nothing wrong with smoking marijuana, but it's a separate issue. The problem with cocaine is the inflated prices caused by prohibition, which makes it unaffordable.
Second, you may call me crazy... Not true but you're certainly too ignorant of the facts to be worth talking to; goodbye.
i just wish the young turks would stop hiding behind the FAKE 2 party system in thsi country. both partys are bought and paid for by the same globalists. They have the same wall street special interests and neither party gives a damn about the people. If we simply did away with the party system and people were FORCED to read about the candidate before voting we would be better off. Becuz there are demos that would vote 4 a dead dog if it had a D next to their name and republicans are EVEN WORSE
Why do people calling for drug decriminalization undermine the whole thing by advocating that we leave a little starter culture of it behind?
So Cenk thinks you should be free to do coke and heroin ... with the proviso that it be done in an uncomfortable government building (and "you gotta do it right there!") after filling out a bunch of forms and asking permission from some authority figure?
Anna, as per usual, parrots the approved milquetoast view and thinks she's Che Guevara
@50kT HEROIN IS AN OPIATE, just like vicodin just stronger, oxycontin oxycodone etc are all the same EXACT POTENCY as HEROIN.. it is perscribed 4 severe pain. It was legal in the 1800's-1920s and the # of heroin addicts wre lower than today. You simply went to the grocery store and bought heroin off the shelf like u would milk or eggs.. yet there were fewer addicts. Heroin=opium.. opium has been used as a medicine since the beginning of time
To Americans who are for legalization; DONT DO IT IF THE GOVERNMENT GETS TO REGULATE IT, they WILL screw you over, they will lower the amount you get to purchase first, and when youre not allowed to buy more than 2 grams they WILL increase the price!! You need to have independant shops, and the only thing the government gets to do is give the sellers a licence.. Weve seen these things around the Dutch borders, so see it as a warning...
I think it's important to differentiate between decriminalizing and legalization. They both end up with the same result (IE avoiding criminal penalties). But decriminalizing is more about saying it's not a matter to be addressed by the criminal justice system, it doesn't mean you're condoning it.
Also, a decriminalized act can still be subject to legal detriments and penalties like fines, but there are no criminal charges or incarceration.
She was right......weed is one thing. Heroin and cocaine don't only effect the person they effect communities. No matter how much drugs you give an addict they will need more. If you administer drugs to addicts through the government they will need more and rob people and break into houses and fuck up the community. I know this shit I'm an addict myself. That dude is crazy.
@Flipper79able Heroin and Cocaine only affect communities BECAUSE they're illegal; don't forget in the states there was a time when you could get either at the pharmacy, and people weren't ripping their society to shit.
Hell, Coca-Cola used to have Cocaine in it. Pure heroin is safer than booze; it's because of a totally unregulated drug economy that it kills people... and guess what, it's the Quinine that it's cut with that kills em. The black market is true capitalism. Sad.
@OdinLowe Wrong wrong wrong. They affect communities because an addict can never get enough. No matter how much the government or pharmacy gives an addict they will need MORE. That's why those drugs are a losing battle. When those drugs were legal they said in some parts of the country had one in three addicts and they WERE RIPPING OFF THEIR COMMUNITIES. That's why they made it illegal. I'm an addict and have seen what addicts do. I know you think your hip and enlightened but this shit is bad.
I'm sorry to say that they were made illegal by the Harrison Narcotics act of 1914, which was originally an act to control/regulate the opium and coca substances, was used by racists who believed it caused blacks to 'rape white women' and gave Chinese immigrants a better financial income... And there is no way that one in three people were addicts, as the majority of known addicts were Doctors, Lawyers, and rich housewives. It is also worth noting that most of these people, while
@Flipper79able They may have been addicts, were able to live productive and normal lives (with some exceptions, obviously) due to the availability and affordability of the drugs at these times. One of the founders of the Johns Hopkins University was first a cocaine addict, and then an opiate addict for the entirety of his professional career. I realize, since you have stated you are (or were) an addict that these issues carry a lot of emotional urgency for you. I know many people, however,
@Flipper79able As I used to work in the restaurant agency, that were former addicts of meth, PCP, crack cocaine etc. which have the opposite view of yourself, and they appear to look back on those times with some happiness. The black market issue also cannot be ignored; if a substance is legal, then there is no artificial inflation in price that comes with it's illegality; Sweden's trials with speed can demonstrate this, however every prohibitionary action ever has caused this.
@OdinLowe I am aware of the facts you told me and shake my head at the facts you deny that in certain parts of the country 1 in 3 people were addicts. It was after the Civil War and they called Morphine the soldiers disease. They used Heroin to cure Morphine addicts not realizing its MORE addictive. If you think it would be good for this country to legalize all drugs than whatever.I'm telling you it would be a disaster. Cigarettes are legal, how many people do we have addicted to cigarettes here?
@OdinLowe Your friends that looked back on fondness of their drug use. Why did they quit if it was so great? It's because it's hard to live that way in so many ways. If you were an addict you would have some knowledge of what I'm talking about. Living through other people is not having a full understanding of what happens. Do you want us to turn into Amsterdam? Have you seen the crime problems they have?Seriously, look at them. Eliminating the black market is the only good thing out of many bad.
@OdinLowe I have one more thing to say. I have known addicts from all walks of life and they rarely are functional when they are using. I don't know where you live where all these addicts are living productive lives but I've lived in cities across the U.S. and seen black, white and hispanic people all fall to their knee's from Heroin use. I don't mean to come across as rude but I really don't believe that you know all these productive addicts that actively use heroin, unless they just started.
@Flipper79able The fundamental mistake here is that the productive addict is a thing of the past. Days with pure heroin, instead of the current garbage cut with sugar and quinine; and keep in mind the heroin they buy costs them far more for much less pure substance, in 1980, the average NYC street bag had about 4 percent heroin per 50 mg... these were nearly all bangers using, so the effects were still noticeable especially as quinine adds added sensation at the needle's entry point... by the90s
@Flipper79able people became more interested in smoking it, and subsequently purity in NYC shot up to at least about 45 % (I've heard figures that say as much as 75%), and that trend is again reverting to people mainlining.... which is riskier, as the vast, vast, vast, vast majority of users who "overdose" actually die of symptoms identical to quinine poisoning... symptoms including frothing at the mouth, pulmonary edema, and extreme suddenness of death, sometimes with a needle still in their
@Flipper79able bodies... Whereas true heroin overdose takes usually an hour at least, and the necessary curative can be found at any pharmacy in the US or in Hospitals... It has also been shown that if pure heroin is used, even a non-addict can survive a dose that is 28 times what is (in theory) in the NYC bag. Some addicts had shown such a great tolerance to opiates that they could take just over 2 grams of heroin without even a negative symptom while under clinical supervision. I kind of
@Flipper79able forgot what I was saying, but if you are interested in the US history of cocaine, opiates, LSD, MJ, Nicotine and amphetamines, you might want to consider reading the 1972 Consumer's Union Report on Licit and Illicit Drugs by Edward M Brecher. I first read fully it at a much younger age (ie 14), but although it is slightly outdated as there has since been the crack/PCP boom, RCs, etc, it still remains in my eyes the single best literary work on the subject. If Brecher were alive,
@OdinLowe The things you are saying are no doubt fascinating. I am not being sarcastic when I say that. I also am away of a lot of things you are saying. I have heard that the quinine and sugar contributes to someones overdose but I really am skeptical of that because I have seen people O.D. on stuff much more easily because it is stronger and more pure. That is one plus one math. I also disagree with the idea that there was productive addicts. When you are using you are either high or sick.
@OdinLowe When you are too high you fall asleep and can't concentrate. An hour or so after your high you start to get sick which is throwing up,feverish chills, muscle and bone pain, basically forget about going to work or functioning. Those are the two states high or sick and that hasn't changed over the years. People didn't use to function as addicts. This is also one plus one math.I'm sorry your facts are right but your opinions are wrong. People who want everything legal don't know addiction.
The reaon why these drugs aren't legal is because it makes particular criminals rich and those crinimals have "extremly influencial" ties with the government.
If you accept that prohibiting drugs isn't working, how can you argue that we should legalise marijuana and ban everything else?
'The government's evil...I'm 100% sure that the money won't be spent on education' - basically, this girl is an ignorant cynic. Be a cynic, but be an informed cynic. As soon as she runs out of arguments and concedes that his make sense, she falls back on 'I still don't think it's a good idea'. This is blind resistance to change.
@thetvuser666 Couldn't agree more. If only people would escape the stigma attached to drug use and look at this rationally. But if you or me stood up and debated this we'd be laughed away as hippies or junkies. Fucking idiots.
right now i can buy a gram of cocaine for $80. but if i was to be tested and then prescribed to a 10th of that (if my tolerance can last for a gram) and the price skyrockets because it is government regulated, do you think i would be down to pay $200 for basically nothing? no and no one else would be....
legalize drugs. make people take physical tests for tolerance by a physician who can then divide their result by 10 (let's say) and prescribe them that amount of drug (to maximize safety). then just price and tax the hell out of the drug so people won't be attracted to paying so much for so little. no one wins. there will be no users, no dealers, no profit for anyone. but everyone wins in a safer world which will eventually result.
The thugs who sell drugs and commit all of these murders aren't magically going to disappear because we legalize drugs. As far as the numbers of pushers in prison--GOOD. It's where they belong! I also believe that if you legalize cocaine, crack, heroin and meth all you're going to do is have a much bigger addict problem on your hands to deal with than you already do. People are not just going to "try it for a month" and quit. If it were that easy to quit then we wouldn't have addicts.
@TrojanIIID Legalizing drugs isnt going to make any more people do it, Actually it will most likely decrease usage, weed as been legal in the netherlands for 25 years now, when it was made legal in the netherlands 7% of the population used marijuana daily, and today its less than 4%, so it decreased usage, Less and less people smoke ciggarrettes today less then they did 25 years ago, the people using these drugs when there legal will be the same ones using them now
@TrojanIIID if your theory were correct that would mean that theres thousand of waiting for drugs to become legal so they could ruin there life with them, but they wont right now because its illegal? Legalizing drugs will NOT make hard drugs more popular, maybe the use of some drugs will go up but the really hard ones will not, if people have access to a menu of different psychedelics they will choose drugs like MDMA, shrooms and LSD and stay away from things like meth, and crack
@TrojanIIID The thugs who commit these murders your talking about are fighting over drugs because they are valuable, but if the drug wasnt valuable to them eg the government sells it so cheap its not worth fighting over anymore these people will move to a different industry if most of the people in the drug world could just get free or cheap dope they wouldnt be selling it anymore, the ONLY reason someone starts selling drugs is to feed there habit not one person starts hoping to make money
I smoke mj daily. I love it-either that or pharma pills and then end up shooting myself or something. I also must say that I'm not Democrat or Republican (or tea party) I do vote, but not convinced in the least that it actually matters anymore. In my experience, people who hold to the liberal philosophy tend to be very arrogant and cruel, while people that hold "conservative values tend to be very stubborn. Time to awake from the stupidity that has turned us into slaves to the Fed Reserve
heroin can be used as a really strong pain killer...like oxycotton...anyway we really just need pot, lsd, mescaline, DMT, plisosybin and we are set...there is a reason we ingest substances...we enjoy altered states of consciousness...they can be very therapeutic if correctly used...the problem isn't so much drug use but drug habitual abuse...just keep in mind every drug has a receptor and every receptor plays a role...
drug war is a crime against humanity, but young turks are obnoxious, naive liberals who aren't really interested in the facts unless they support their fight against all socially conservative ideas. Liberals as a whole are a very cruel and selfish segment of the population
@lilbitparanoid I.E. YT stood on their hind legs and demanded that everyone accept the obvious seizure of power over every tiny detail of our lives and finances that will ultimately decide if our lives are important enough to allow each individual to live that is the govt health care reform.
@DaRealDMoney What's wrong with selfishness? The current state of the world is a direct result of selfishness, as in people taking things they don't deserve from the people that do. Nothing wrong with innovation, but turning over all of our rights to a military industrial government (party symbol is irrelevant) that obviously doesn't have our best interest in mind, and then ridiculing anyone that had the courage to say no is ignorance at best, treason at worst.
@lilbitparanoid Well taking selfishness too far can be terrible but egoism and selfishness is also what leads people to finance things. You want a cure for cancer? It will be found much easier if investors can expect a large return on their investment. Selfishness leads to new research every single day which leads to an improvement of everyone's way of life. I hate the military industrial complex but I don't think a selfish individualist world needs to have that at all,big government is to blame
i completley agree all drugs should be legalized it makes so much sence and all the ppl who wuld disagree with wut he said are just stuck on no no druggs are terrible bla bla bla and listen to wut is being said about crime and all that it wuld be a great move i think in this country to at least be able to go do the bigger druggs like in a gov building for way cheaper cuz ppl who do it wuld do it that way and that wuld take hold of this gang issue with ppl dieing an all that but im all 4 weed
Actually in the Netherlands, NO drug is legal. They are de-facto legal and are tolerant of only Natural substances, such as peyote, psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis, etc...
And you can't just use it anywhere, you can still get arrested for it.
drugs should be legal because the war on drugs is a lie..
drugs should be legal because we shouldn't be told what we can and cannot do..
drugs should not be controlled by the government - that would just be another disaster taken on by the government creating more jobs that are paid by tax payers.. no thanks!
just free the damn people by stop trying to control them! word..
you all have to remember that people are prescribed opiates like Morphine from doctors all the time, for years, even decades. heroin addicts die from not being able to afford keeping themselves nourished and paying for living costs, because all they're money is going to their next hit. They also die from diseases transmitted from used needles.
Heroin as a chemical does not kill.
Its only when its sold illegally can it be significantly destructive.
I believe that if they legalized all drugs and sold them to the public then you should have to test positive for the drug first before you would be allowed to buy it from the goverment in other words...prove you are an addict already.
Anna's argument "we can't make cocaine ACCESSIBLE to people" OVERLOOKS the fact that people are CURRENTLY ACCESSING those drugs!!! HAHAHA. This is how th public generally thinks as well. "If we legalize crack, then we will be UNLEASHING this drug onto the public and our kids."
But we all have to ask OURSELVES "If crack became legal tomorrow, would I go try it?" Most of us say HELL NO!
So if we LEGALIZE and REGULATE drugs, then ORGANIZED CRIME IS OVER!!!! No black market for drugs!
I agree with legalizing Marijuana. But heroin, crack, and liike all the other drugs, legalizing that is just dumb. Marijuana has been proven to help with stress and other problem. Hence why it is medically legal in Cali, and Colorado. But The harder drug have so much more consequences and are dangerous. I HIGHLY disagree with legalizing any other drugs. Marijuana Heck yeah. Addicts will do anything to get drug. That is making it easier... Not in a good way... Right Right.

Just look at Portugal, less addicts less aids less hiv less less less less less, they have decriminalized all drugs, much easier to get help, not get treated as a criminal.
Portugal decriminalized drugs and instead offer therapy to drug users instead of criminal penalties - drug use and cases of HIV decrease. It's a bit of a no brainer
the day we make drugs a US legal market is the day i move to a new country, America may like getting kidnapped and oppressed but i like living in a civilized culture
in germany all the drugs where legal until 1971, than the BtmG (law which made every drug illegal) was issued. Wow, what a great achievement for us germans..
Uh. Turkish Man totally just refuted his own point. He says, "People aren't going to do Heroin because People aren't going to want to go to a government building, etc..." Then Caucasian Dame says, "People will just go get it illegally then." Then he says, "Well it'll be easier to get if from the government because it's less shady and cheaper." That sounds a lot like Heroin is going to be more accessible to be tried and thus create more addicts.

if for any reason to regulate and keep it out of the hands of our youth. id much rather my 18 year old try heroin with a clean needle given to him by a doctor then my 13 year old shooting up with a dirty needle on a spring exposed matress in an old abandon house with an hiv infested gangbanger whos only source of income is the lunchmoney of children who buy the drugs from him.
by the time i was 16 i had to change my "Click" because most of my friends began to abbuse coke. my choice to stay away from coke stems from my brothers who inlightend me through there expieriances with coke. i guess my point is... ciggarettes are legal and regulated and hard for 17- yearold to get it without the help of an adult. but if i wanted coke or anything illegal i could simply go to school that day and come home with it. so should all drugs be legal and regulated? ABSOLUTELY!!!!
being a young man who recently left the highschool scene i know that marijuana and lsd where often more excessable to me then cigarettes. my parents did a great job educating me in the harms of ciggarettes and i was able to stay away from them till the wopping age of 18. im sure the governments regulations on cigs made it much harder for me to pick up the habbit as well. but weed is a different story. i remember at the age of 13 having an ounce on me at school. it was stupid yes but i was 13.
Making drugs legal would make them more accessible? Making them legal would do just the opposite. It's already more accessible than ever, even to kids because drug dealers don't check ID. Also making them illegal makes them even more dangerous than if they were legal. If drugs were legalized, they would be safer and less accessible to kids because government regulatory policies would be put in place in order to ensure that they are safe and less accessible to kids.
This lady talks about drugs being more accessible if drugs were legalized. That's a lie. We have already made them more accessible than ever by drug prohibition! It's more access able to kids than cigarettes and alcohol because drug dealers don't check kids for ID The drug prohibition policies also causes the drugs to be even more dangerous. If drugs were legalized, there would be government regulatory policies put in place that would make them safer and less accessible to kids. End the drug war
Using gang violence is a weak argument in my opinion. Should we legalize child prostitution when gangs kill enough people while delivering them to the degenerates who ordered them online? The negative effects of marijuana are laughable when compared to alcohol, but other drugs can permanently damage a person! And for what? What America needs to ask itself is why it demands 50% of the drugs on the planet! Don't let society spoon feed you on what will bring you happiness, do your own legwork.
@magnetmonkey I agree that drugs are stupid and so are the people who do them.
That being said, I don't think it's right to tell somebody what they can or cannot put in their own body, if they're an adult. Not drugs. Not other people's genitalia. Nothing. It's their right.
Oh course, they have to be held accountable for their actions while on drugs.
@MajikkaniHand, you are boiling down a complex situation, to frankly something stupid. Don't project your ignorance about drugs and drug use, the problems that go with it, and the societal factors that create drug addicts onto others.
@hoboboxerjoe Now, why would you assume I'm ignorant about drugs? I'm...not. I've watched person after person that I care about be fed to them, in point of fact. They're horrible and they do NO good.
But freedom to do what you want to YOURSELF is still a higher right. It's not pleasant, to watch somebody do that to themselves, and it doesn't help society, but it's not our right to stop them like that. It's not that simple, and I DO know that, but personal freedom is VERY important.
@MajikkaniHand, We do agree that freedom is far more important than criminalizing drugs. Sorry for some reason I assumed or had an idea in my head that you were disagreeing with me about that, my apologies. AS for accountability. I think that the accountability falls on ALL of us. As a society, the lawmakers, the politicans, the monetary system which only allows those which money to recieve the proper care required, etc.
And yes, we all have to try our best to make sure everybody gets what they need, I just meant that the ULTIMATE responsibility lies with each person to use the resources they have in the best manner, as far as they can with the knowledge they have, and we don't have the right to stop them from making wrong choices as long as it doesn't cause us harm. We agree on that, I'm fairly sure. ^^
@hoboboxerjoe I know, too, that there are societal factors that cause people who would not choose to do drugs by themselves to do them. There are societal factors that cause people who wouldn't choose to do pretty much ANY activity to do it--drugs aren't special, other than being so dangerous. We can try to protect people from bad influences, but ultimately, the responsibility for each person's decisions has to lie with THEMSELVES, and we can warn them, but that is all we have a right to do.
@luckytaco97
Meth is a synthetic drug manufactured as a cheap cocaine substitute. If drugs were legalized in their natural forms, synthetic drugs like meth and ecstasy would likely diminish in favour of the natural equivalents.

@HowToGetFreebies
Hard drugs cause crime because they are illegal. Addicts are desperate for money to feed an expensive illegal habit. If decriminalized, prices would go down and treatment options up, demonstrated by the drastic usage increase in methadone treatment after Portugal decriminalized. You are making a drastic error in logic by assuming correlation implies causation, for criminals are much more likely to use drugs, coupled with my previous statement that illegality causes criminality
almostskater3210 3 months ago
I dont see why people are still drinking the coolaid thinking that for some reason the war on drugs will work. There is no proof that making it not legal has worked, there really isnt any proof that pot is more harmfull than what we have legal now(Cigs, Boos). In addition, like previously mentioned, when alcohal was illegal, people still got beer, and you know what, it was more costly and made more money for the dealers because they couldnt get it anywhere else. Please think logically, legalize.

2ruedas2 8 months ago
The problem with war on drugs is it is not based on scientific evidence we have about human biology as a social mammal. It is not the drugs that are addictive themselves but the neurobiology behind them. I mean all drugs from caffeine to heroine are stimulants for opiates and dopamine those chemicals makes us feel loved and motivated. Not all people are addictive types -only those withouth the love and security needed for heathy development of the brain.

Within six months we had the first importation on large scale of 'Elephant' Chinese Heroin. This was top grade heroin & sold from China Town, London. The summer of 1965 the Home Office Index of Addicts was 427

"are there medical uses for heroin?" who the fuck is this retarded girl? do you realize most prescription painkillers are opiate based (AKA HEROIN). morphine and heroin are pretty much the same thing. ron paul said it best, end the war on drugs, legalize everything. he had a speech where he asked who would go buy heroin just because it was legal? no one in the room. the fact is drug addicts dont care about the legal status of their drug of choice, they want to get high. any way they can.
tehgreatist 8 months ago
nah I don't think legalizing heroin is a good idea because a lot of people who have thought about taking heroin on the street but decided not too because they felt uncomfortable about getting it from a drug dealer not knowing what was in it. If it were legalized I think a lot of people would fill out the paperwork to get high of heroin. Legalize marijuana and spend DEA resources fighting heroin and especially Methamphetimine because the toxins from meth labs poison communities.

OdinLowe 9 months ago 11
@OdinLowe That is going a little to far "There are medical uses for all illicit drugs" Crack or cocaine wouldn't help with anything. Yea LSD and mushrooms can help with lots of forms of anxiety and depression but crack, meth, coke, and PSP are bad. People have and do freak out and hurt them selves and others around them and is way to addictive. Like with PSP people have eaten other people and mutilated them selves when on it.
nowwithmorekick 4 months ago
@nowwithmorekick
crack cocaine has yet to be shown as useful, but there are many uses for cocaine...
OdinLowe 4 months ago
@OdinLowe Is that why people have had there noses fall off died and had organ problems. It's extremely addictive. I had a mom that was on coke. I have a lot of different types of drug addicts in my family i did the research and experienced it.Coke is something that should be decriminalized and people who get caught using it should get medical attention. People have freaked out on coke thinking other people are trying to kill them and have hurt people around them. It's paranoia isn't like weed.
nowwithmorekick 4 months ago
@nowwithmorekick Cocaine psychosis is a well recorded phenomenon... And since you have addicts in your family; I'm sure you know as well as I that drugs tend only to make unhappy people into addicts. I know people who have used crack cocaine and regular on and off every other weekend for over a decade... It's the person and not the substance which causes these problems. It has been known since Freud's day that a small/moderate amount of coke taken infrequently is not very addictive.
OdinLowe 4 months ago
@OdinLowe Is that why people have committed suicide from the with drawl of coke. It can cause terrible pain and depression. To avoid this you have to take it more and more often until it ether kills you or causes your nasal cavity to rot where you look like a ghoulish thing. I seen people go into detox and start foaming at the mouth slamming around in padded rooms in pain freaking out. People will have homicidal tendencies because of how it messes with there mind.
nowwithmorekick 4 months ago
@nowwithmorekick Nasal rot is almost unheard of with pure cocaine... The main reason why it occurs in the US is because it was recently discovered that 80% of the US Cocaine supply was cut with a veterinary animale heart-deworming drug, which causes rotting of soft tissue for humans in areas of contacts. People commit suicide from withdrawal because of the necessity to stop. In a better world they would have legal access to their vice for cheap and would still be fairly productive in society.
OdinLowe 4 months ago
@OdinLowe The only difference between crack and coke is that crack takes you down faster. They have a lot of same effects. Crack was a cheap way to imitate coke for people who couldn't afford it.Crack is made with more chemicals then coke where coke is partly made from a natural plant and then mixed with very harmful chemicals. The coka plant it's self isn't really harmful but coke is. It's very harmful. It causes organ damage and effects the serotonin in the brain that can cause to depression.
nowwithmorekick 4 months ago
@nowwithmorekick Thanks but I'm quite familiar with the reasons people make crack; and while what you say is true of much cocaine the very finest is made with a minimum of chemicals; it's known as 'the pearl' for its colour and consistency when a small amount is in your hand. while it's true the serotonin receptors can be damaged it doesn't do so any more than with caffeine and nicotine, which affect the brain in much the same way.
OdinLowe 4 months ago
@nowwithmorekick

However, the things it is cut with are much worse, ranging from other powerful recreational stimulants like amphetamines, mephedrone and buphedrone to evil cuts like levamisole, which kills people by drastically lowering white blood cell count.
almostskater3210 3 months ago
@OdinLowe Your crazy. And the fact that you talk the way that you do about coke i am pretty sure you don't even do it at all. There were big Coke problems in the 70s and because of it's purity people were dropping off dead at an extremely high rate. Woman often whore them selves out to keep doing coke.Woman that wouldn't have done that if they had just smoke Marijuana.
nowwithmorekick 4 months ago
@nowwithmorekick I have done it, not in excessive quantities but enough to know the effects and appreciate them. Cocaine was cut more in the 70s than it is now on average. Nothing wrong with smoking marijuana, but it's a separate issue. The problem with cocaine is the inflated prices caused by prohibition, which makes it unaffordable.
Second, you may call me crazy... Not true but you're certainly too ignorant of the facts to be worth talking to; goodbye.

Like for cocaine, you can do coke ONLY if you made it yourself. And you can't sell it! YEA!

Weve seen these things around the Dutch borders, so see it as a warning...
cwongchung 9 months ago
I think it's important to differentiate between decriminalizing and legalization. They both end up with the same result (IE avoiding criminal penalties). But decriminalizing is more about saying it's not a matter to be addressed by the criminal justice system, it doesn't mean you're condoning it.
Also, a decriminalized act can still be subject to legal detriments and penalties like fines, but there are no criminal charges or incarceration.
Necromas 10 months ago
She was right......weed is one thing. Heroin and cocaine don't only effect the person they effect communities. No matter how much drugs you give an addict they will need more. If you administer drugs to addicts through the government they will need more and rob people and break into houses and fuck up the community. I know this shit I'm an addict myself. That dude is crazy.
Flipper79able 10 months ago
@Flipper79able Heroin and Cocaine only affect communities BECAUSE they're illegal; don't forget in the states there was a time when you could get either at the pharmacy, and people weren't ripping their society to shit.
Hell, Coca-Cola used to have Cocaine in it. Pure heroin is safer than booze; it's because of a totally unregulated drug economy that it kills people... and guess what, it's the Quinine that it's cut with that kills em. The black market is true capitalism. Sad.
OdinLowe 10 months ago
@OdinLowe Wrong wrong wrong. They affect communities because an addict can never get enough. No matter how much the government or pharmacy gives an addict they will need MORE. That's why those drugs are a losing battle. When those drugs were legal they said in some parts of the country had one in three addicts and they WERE RIPPING OFF THEIR COMMUNITIES. That's why they made it illegal. I'm an addict and have seen what addicts do. I know you think your hip and enlightened but this shit is bad.

@Flipper79able
It is also worth noting that most of these people, while
OdinLowe 9 months ago
@Flipper79able They may have been addicts, were able to live productive and normal lives (with some exceptions, obviously) due to the availability and affordability of the drugs at these times. One of the founders of the Johns Hopkins University was first a cocaine addict, and then an opiate addict for the entirety of his professional career. I realize, since you have stated you are (or were) an addict that these issues carry a lot of emotional urgency for you. I know many people, however,
OdinLowe 9 months ago
@Flipper79able As I used to work in the restaurant agency, that were former addicts of meth, PCP, crack cocaine etc. which have the opposite view of yourself, and they appear to look back on those times with some happiness. The black market issue also cannot be ignored; if a substance is legal, then there is no artificial inflation in price that comes with it's illegality; Sweden's trials with speed can demonstrate this, however every prohibitionary action ever has caused this.
OdinLowe 9 months ago
@OdinLowe I am aware of the facts you told me and shake my head at the facts you deny that in certain parts of the country 1 in 3 people were addicts. It was after the Civil War and they called Morphine the soldiers disease. They used Heroin to cure Morphine addicts not realizing its MORE addictive. If you think it would be good for this country to legalize all drugs than whatever.I'm telling you it would be a disaster. Cigarettes are legal, how many people do we have addicted to cigarettes here?
Flipper79able 9 months ago
@OdinLowe Your friends that looked back on fondness of their drug use. Why did they quit if it was so great? It's because it's hard to live that way in so many ways. If you were an addict you would have some knowledge of what I'm talking about. Living through other people is not having a full understanding of what happens. Do you want us to turn into Amsterdam? Have you seen the crime problems they have?Seriously, look at them. Eliminating the black market is the only good thing out of many bad.
Flipper79able 9 months ago
@OdinLowe I have one more thing to say. I have known addicts from all walks of life and they rarely are functional when they are using. I don't know where you live where all these addicts are living productive lives but I've lived in cities across the U.S. and seen black, white and hispanic people all fall to their knee's from Heroin use. I don't mean to come across as rude but I really don't believe that you know all these productive addicts that actively use heroin, unless they just started.
Flipper79able 9 months ago
@Flipper79able The fundamental mistake here is that the productive addict is a thing of the past. Days with pure heroin, instead of the current garbage cut with sugar and quinine; and keep in mind the heroin they buy costs them far more for much less pure substance, in 1980, the average NYC street bag had about 4 percent heroin per 50 mg... these were nearly all bangers using, so the effects were still noticeable especially as quinine adds added sensation at the needle's entry point... by the90s
OdinLowe 9 months ago
@Flipper79able people became more interested in smoking it, and subsequently purity in NYC shot up to at least about 45 % (I've heard figures that say as much as 75%), and that trend is again reverting to people mainlining.... which is riskier, as the vast, vast, vast, vast majority of users who "overdose" actually die of symptoms identical to quinine poisoning... symptoms including frothing at the mouth, pulmonary edema, and extreme suddenness of death, sometimes with a needle still in their
OdinLowe 9 months ago
@Flipper79able bodies... Whereas true heroin overdose takes usually an hour at least, and the necessary curative can be found at any pharmacy in the US or in Hospitals... It has also been shown that if pure heroin is used, even a non-addict can survive a dose that is 28 times what is (in theory) in the NYC bag. Some addicts had shown such a great tolerance to opiates that they could take just over 2 grams of heroin without even a negative symptom while under clinical supervision. I kind of
OdinLowe 9 months ago
@Flipper79able forgot what I was saying, but if you are interested in the US history of cocaine, opiates, LSD, MJ, Nicotine and amphetamines, you might want to consider reading the 1972 Consumer's Union Report on Licit and Illicit Drugs by Edward M Brecher. I first read fully it at a much younger age (ie 14), but although it is slightly outdated as there has since been the crack/PCP boom, RCs, etc, it still remains in my eyes the single best literary work on the subject. If Brecher were alive,
OdinLowe 9 months ago
@OdinLowe The things you are saying are no doubt fascinating. I am not being sarcastic when I say that. I also am away of a lot of things you are saying. I have heard that the quinine and sugar contributes to someones overdose but I really am skeptical of that because I have seen people O.D. on stuff much more easily because it is stronger and more pure. That is one plus one math. I also disagree with the idea that there was productive addicts. When you are using you are either high or sick.
Flipper79able 9 months ago
@OdinLowe When you are too high you fall asleep and can't concentrate. An hour or so after your high you start to get sick which is throwing up,feverish chills, muscle and bone pain, basically forget about going to work or functioning. Those are the two states high or sick and that hasn't changed over the years. People didn't use to function as addicts. This is also one plus one math.I'm sorry your facts are right but your opinions are wrong. People who want everything legal don't know addiction.

TASSOS502 11 months ago
legalize drugs. make people take physical tests for tolerance by a physician who can then divide their result by 10 (let's say) and prescribe them that amount of drug (to maximize safety). then just price and tax the hell out of the drug so people won't be attracted to paying so much for so little. no one wins. there will be no users, no dealers, no profit for anyone. but everyone wins in a safer world which will eventually result.
TASSOS502 11 months ago
The thugs who sell drugs and commit all of these murders aren't magically going to disappear because we legalize drugs. As far as the numbers of pushers in prison--GOOD. It's where they belong! I also believe that if you legalize cocaine, crack, heroin and meth all you're going to do is have a much bigger addict problem on your hands to deal with than you already do. People are not just going to "try it for a month" and quit. If it were that easy to quit then we wouldn't have addicts.

donoraen 11 months ago
@TrojanIIID Legalizing drugs isnt going to make any more people do it, Actually it will most likely decrease usage, weed as been legal in the netherlands for 25 years now, when it was made legal in the netherlands 7% of the population used marijuana daily, and today its less than 4%, so it decreased usage, Less and less people smoke ciggarrettes today less then they did 25 years ago, the people using these drugs when there legal will be the same ones using them now
hazard2000 11 months ago
@TrojanIIID if your theory were correct that would mean that theres thousand of waiting for drugs to become legal so they could ruin there life with them, but they wont right now because its illegal? Legalizing drugs will NOT make hard drugs more popular, maybe the use of some drugs will go up but the really hard ones will not, if people have access to a menu of different psychedelics they will choose drugs like MDMA, shrooms and LSD and stay away from things like meth, and crack
hazard2000 11 months ago
@TrojanIIID The thugs who commit these murders your talking about are fighting over drugs because they are valuable, but if the drug wasnt valuable to them eg the government sells it so cheap its not worth fighting over anymore these people will move to a different industry if most of the people in the drug world could just get free or cheap dope they wouldnt be selling it anymore, the ONLY reason someone starts selling drugs is to feed there habit not one person starts hoping to make money

@DaRealDMoney What's wrong with selfishness? The current state of the world is a direct result of selfishness, as in people taking things they don't deserve from the people that do. Nothing wrong with innovation, but turning over all of our rights to a military industrial government (party symbol is irrelevant) that obviously doesn't have our best interest in mind, and then ridiculing anyone that had the courage to say no is ignorance at best, treason at worst.
lilbitparanoid 11 months ago
@lilbitparanoid Well taking selfishness too far can be terrible but egoism and selfishness is also what leads people to finance things. You want a cure for cancer? It will be found much easier if investors can expect a large return on their investment. Selfishness leads to new research every single day which leads to an improvement of everyone's way of life. I hate the military industrial complex but I don't think a selfish individualist world needs to have that at all,big government is to blame

just free the damn people by stop trying to control them! word..
oh2love4love 1 year ago
you all have to remember that people are prescribed opiates like Morphine from doctors all the time, for years, even decades. heroin addicts die from not being able to afford keeping themselves nourished and paying for living costs, because all they're money is going to their next hit. They also die from diseases transmitted from used needles.
Heroin as a chemical does not kill.
Its only when its sold illegally can it be significantly destructive.
Fred66613 1 year ago

Making drugs legal would make them more accessible? Making them legal would do just the opposite. It's already more accessible than ever, even to kids because drug dealers don't check ID. Also making them illegal makes them even more dangerous than if they were legal. If drugs were legalized, they would be safer and less accessible to kids because government regulatory policies would be put in place in order to ensure that they are safe and less accessible to kids.
emdaddy19 1 year ago
This lady talks about drugs being more accessible if drugs were legalized. That's a lie. We have already made them more accessible than ever by drug prohibition! It's more access able to kids than cigarettes and alcohol because drug dealers don't check kids for ID The drug prohibition policies also causes the drugs to be even more dangerous. If drugs were legalized, there would be government regulatory policies put in place that would make them safer and less accessible to kids. End the drug war
emdaddy19 1 year ago
Using gang violence is a weak argument in my opinion. Should we legalize child prostitution when gangs kill enough people while delivering them to the degenerates who ordered them online? The negative effects of marijuana are laughable when compared to alcohol, but other drugs can permanently damage a person! And for what? What America needs to ask itself is why it demands 50% of the drugs on the planet! Don't let society spoon feed you on what will bring you happiness, do your own legwork.
magnetmonkey 1 year ago
@magnetmonkey I agree that drugs are stupid and so are the people who do them.
That being said, I don't think it's right to tell somebody what they can or cannot put in their own body, if they're an adult. Not drugs. Not other people's genitalia. Nothing. It's their right.
Oh course, they have to be held accountable for their actions while on drugs.
MajikkaniHand 1 year ago 15
@MajikkaniHand, you are boiling down a complex situation, to frankly something stupid. Don't project your ignorance about drugs and drug use, the problems that go with it, and the societal factors that create drug addicts onto others.
hoboboxerjoe 9 months ago
@hoboboxerjoe Now, why would you assume I'm ignorant about drugs? I'm...not. I've watched person after person that I care about be fed to them, in point of fact. They're horrible and they do NO good.
But freedom to do what you want to YOURSELF is still a higher right. It's not pleasant, to watch somebody do that to themselves, and it doesn't help society, but it's not our right to stop them like that. It's not that simple, and I DO know that, but personal freedom is VERY important.
MajikkaniHand 9 months ago
@MajikkaniHand, We do agree that freedom is far more important than criminalizing drugs. Sorry for some reason I assumed or had an idea in my head that you were disagreeing with me about that, my apologies. AS for accountability. I think that the accountability falls on ALL of us. As a society, the lawmakers, the politicans, the monetary system which only allows those which money to recieve the proper care required, etc.
hoboboxerjoe 9 months ago
@hoboboxerjoe Ahhh, that's ok. XD
MajikkaniHand 9 months ago
@hoboboxerjoe I know, too, that there are societal factors that cause people who would not choose to do drugs by themselves to do them. There are societal factors that cause people who wouldn't choose to do pretty much ANY activity to do it--drugs aren't special, other than being so dangerous. We can try to protect people from bad influences, but ultimately, the responsibility for each person's decisions has to lie with THEMSELVES, and we can warn them, but that is all we have a right to do.
MajikkaniHand 9 months ago
