What has this got to do with Romney? Why don't you go to a Romney video to talk about him? Why isn't Romney talking about the 200,000 homeless vets, like Edwards. Why isn't Romney talking about the foreign lobbyists that are influencing bad trade deals for the U.S., which are sending our jobs to other countries?
Romney has some incredible economic and business accomplishments that would really be an asset to our country at this time. I think everyone should consider the benefits his experience can have for our economy. He pretty much has raised several nearly bankrupt business's back up from the dust. He is an obvious optimist, and seems to accomplish pretty much any endeavor he puts his mind to. He did amazing things for Massachussets with health care and the whole insurance problem.
Edwards is the ONLY candidate NOT taking money from lobbyists and PACs! He's also got the best environmental plan and endorsed by Friends of the Earth Action.

Haha Your sarcasm is lost on me.. mainly because all those tax dollars you're now (subtly) whining about are going towards the Military industrail Complex and this goddamn war!! Good luck with your head in the sand humor and..um, NEXT!
No, the Military Industrial Complex isnt even being paid for yet, it is all unfunded debt. It is paid for out of absurd loans to us by foreign governments or by stealing money from the Social Security and Medicare trustfunds. You see if we take money from these trust funds then the Republicans don't have to raise taxes to support their policies and then they can say that these programs are failing because the trust funds aren't getting the compound interest that they should.
You, like so many others, don't actually understand the debt issue. All countries are always in debt to each other, and they always have some cash on hand. Our issue is we don't have cash on hand, to pay off the debts slowly. And nothing goes directly to the Military/Industrial Complex. It is a subtle system that thrives on situations like this. It has its roots in the capitalist, imperialistic system we have today.
Which Democrat is talking about these kind of numbers. I think what they are talking about are the rich helped by lower or no capital gains taxes, inheritance taxes, tax breaks for oil, defense, and pharma industries etc. Not what a normal family is. In fact I think that is barely middle class by his definition.
Sorry Weirdo your right ME and SO MANY OTHERS are just idiots. I am just glad that you can explain the extreme complexities of economics. I beleive it is only difficult to the extent that people want it to be. The point is the 500 Billion spent on this War was not covered by any revenue trail. It was not part of any budget, and it is not actually paid for by our governments income. My comment was primarily meant to be light and a little sarcastic.
That's fine, sorry if I came off that way. I was really agreeing with you, but I got really confused by that particular issue last year, so I wished to clarify it for others. The whole situation is really strange. Sorry about that.
You know the old saying "If you want to keep getting what you're getting, just keep doing what you're doing."
Call me crazy, but I prefer peace and prosperity myself, so I can't wait to see ANY Democrat elected.
I guess you'd rather have us continue to squander our resources, make more enemies everywhere, and just generally hammer some more nails in the coffin of what used to be a great country.
judywatt: The point was raising taxes to yet again cover the "poor" w/Univ Health Care. Mr. Edwards wants to raise taxes for the higher income folks, which will help to lower taxes for us middle class people. He wants to work for us... open your eyes! we NEED to get a Democrat back in the white house. VOTE EDWARDS!!
not nearly enough. money up to 1 mil a year should be taxed the way it is. Every penny over 1 mil should be taxed at 80-90%. So if you make $1,000,001, then that $1 should be taxed at 80-90%
Let's privative the police, and the fire departemnts too, right? And who cares about the poor, after all they're just a bunch of lazy whiners, right? Let's justlet them starve. ytdsmom, you have no perspective. What happened to democracy? Society before the indavidual was it's basic principle. This is crazy.
God, you must not understand what he is saying. He wants to raise taxes on the wealthy Americans who are paying about 15-20% of their income, and lower taxes on the Middle and Lower Socioeconomic scale who do currently pay the largest percentage of their income to taxes.
America is not ready for Obama's "hope" ideals and we've already heard the "uniter" promises. He and Clinton both accept donations to their campaigns from the all the same folks that have bought and corrupted our federal government for the past 16+ years. Edwards doesn't. He has less money. But he backs up his "change" platform with actual change, RIGHT NOW, by not allowing those corrupting influences in his back pocket while he campaigns.
This is a request, not an insult to anyone. Everyone, go to Edwards' own website. Read his policies carefully. Then think about them, and what they REALLY mean. Edwards as he is selling himself is only skin-deep.
I reply to your comment as an honest debate and not an insult in any way! PLEASE go back to Edwards' web-site again and look and read again as you have invited all here to do, and realize the hope and vision he offers is entirely possible for you and for us all!
Look again my friend and as you do, realize THIS IS REALLY POSSIBLE!!
I have, multiple times, because it is hard for me to change my beliefs. Here are my biggest problems: 1)Line-item veto (he want it) 2)He will not abolish the Patriot Act 3)He will not get rid of the health care companies 4)He co-authored the bill to give Bush the power to go to war.
1)he want line-item veto power 2) he will not abolish the patriot act 3)he will not get rid of health care companies 4)he co-authored the bill to give Bush the power to go to war.
I recommend looking up Kucinich, no matter what you may have heard.
I like Kucinich.. In fact Id love to see an Edwards/ Kucinich ticket.. if only Edwards would go for Single Payer Health Insurance.. I agree ist the best way. But he's got a good chance against Hillary & Obama.. Talk about bowing to the Health Ins. Companies! At least Edwards is for MANDATED (everyone) Health Care.
I'd like to see a Kucinich/Edwards ticket. Edwards because he's marketable, and Kucinich because he's good as hell. I agree that Edwards' health care plan beats Obama's or Hillary's, but it does not solve the main problem, which is that the companies put $ before care, and do not provide care when it is actually needed, and would cost them and amount of $. Any plan that is not government-run, tax-funded health care should be moot. And what about the other problems?
I hope Edwards' people are reading your comments because I couldn't agree with you more.. if only people would watch MM's "SiCKO" rally behind the idea of (egads!) Socialized medicine like Canada, England, France etc. and see that it's all about the PEOPLE..rich AND poor..and NOT CORPORATE AMERICA!! Maybe I'm too hopeful but it's not too late to start screaming UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE until someone listens.. Thanks Weirdoveirdo for your intelligent comments. Thumbs up.
Socialized Medicine gets everyones hair up, why not just call it what it is, Public Medicine like Public Schools or Public Works or Public Police and Fire Services.
OK, fine. What's your point? If you want me to defend calling it Socialized medicine, I don't care, but I'll try, I guess: Public medicine sugessts poor care.
I think you misunderstood me, I just wanted to show that while this becomes so divisive with people acting like it will make us a "socialist" society these other "public" services don't bother people. I think we need public healthcare or socialized healthcare or what ever you want to call it.
good point. It is what it is.. Michael Moore makes the same point. it's a public service like all the above and more. I'd rather pay taxes for health then stupid lame brain wars!

If you want me to defend calling it Socialized medicine, I don't care, but I'll try, I guess: Public medicine sugessts poor care.
weirdoveirdo 4 years ago
I think you misunderstood me, I just wanted to show that while this becomes so divisive with people acting like it will make us a "socialist" society these other "public" services don't bother people. I think we need public healthcare or socialized healthcare or what ever you want to call it.
aaronbmartin76 4 years ago
Fair enough. Public health care it is!
weirdoveirdo 4 years ago
good point. It is what it is.. Michael Moore makes the same point. it's a public service like all the above and more. I'd rather pay taxes for health then stupid lame brain wars!
