I'm digging the beat homie you mos def got skills but if you don't mind me saying so... your studio monitors should you choose to keep them laying on their sides as such should have the tweeters on the outside to get the widest stereo image possible and placing some Auralex MoPads under them will isolate them and the desk from each other giving you a better sound overall and reducing any vibrations that the speakers may cause during playback. :)

@silver19944 I know I ain't the guy from the video, but I can give you a tip. Look up what the kings of the genre sampled, Pete Rock, J-Dilla, Dj Premier, and from there you can build a base of knowlege around sampling. What I had to do, was to go to secondhand stores, cus we don't really have good recordstores where I live (West-DK). I had to buy the old records there, and I didn't know what I got :P It was an expensive lesson, but now adays I have my base of knolege, and know what to buy :)

@theoutsideas - A sample should be as long as you need in order to hear the part(s) you want to work with and short enough that you can actually manage the sample in your sampler. I "flip" samples instead of "looping" them, so my sample chops/slices are between a few milliseconds to about 3 seconds long.

i have a mpd32, like you, but i cant get a pad to cutoff another one. confusing i know...

for ex.

if i have a sample (on a pad of coarse) in "momentary", i have to hold the pad down to play the whole thing.

if i have a sample in "toggle" i can hit the pad and it will play the whole thing but i have to wait until that sample is done in order to play another.

Nice Beat man... I really dig the samples...I just wish more producers were doing all original melodies. Its hard to make good hip hop with out samples ... But its possible...
