  • why is he in a suit? isn't this set in roman times?

  • @sabrinajaine92

It's very stylized like many of Taymor's films.

Much like the Romeo + Juliet film.

Somewhat contemporary setting, yet still with the feel of classical Rome.

  • I laughed when the rock music started playing and they showed some random woman, dancing. XD

  • @mhood361 Her hands haven't grown back. when you watch the whole movie, you'll see what happened:-)

  • this is one of the saddess scenes... I was chorus in the play and watching this even though I know what is going to happen I still get upset the acting is amazing!

  • This is like one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie. Julie Taymor is a GENIUS!

  • would you recomand this movie?

  • If you like revenge stories and/or psychedelic strange movies, yes! I liked it, personally. :)

  • i love how this whole movie is told through the eyes of a child!

  • notice in alot of these scenes tthe emphasise is put towards predatory elements.....Julie Taymor is amazing.

  • What I like, is that this is using a lot of the symbolism in the play itself. Rome is a den of tigers, and tigers must prey, and there is naught to prey on but me and mine (I probably butchered the quote, but still...) The director just emphasizes those scenes into far more than could be displayed by play alone.

  • Has anyone noticed the phallic nature of the stick. Lavinia looks at it and is disgusted by the thought of putting it in her mouth. So intense!

  • OOOOh.

I never noticed that until now, thanks.

    :D

  • @eg19082

In the play, she uses her feet. Taymor chooses to make her not, and has lavinia put it to her mouth but not in it to show that she still has some power at least, even though the brothers cut out her tongue and took away her arms

  • @spanishrose243

Are you sure; I'm sure that in the script, she does actually put it in her mouth and move it around with her stumps. It seems something which has come later.

  • @hole1991 This came from Taymor's own accounts in a live web-chat I attended.

  • Scott Tenorman Must Die

  • the music is fucking annoying. Other than that its pretty good.

  • you can see her hand when she's turning the pages like 32-33 seconds in.

  • Watch the movie. It's a fake hand.

  • oh bohoo there was a mistake.

  • U of L recently performed this. This makes Mcbeth look like a story written for a child. But it's good.

  • oh naw...i read the play but he wanted us to use the movie as well...well that's over now..i made an A-

  • go back and put up this whole movie...i have to write an essay on it for school!

  • o shit i have to write an essay to on this

    lol

  • Revenge ye Heavens for old ANDRONICUS!! I LOVE THIS FILM!!!!

  • I only can say...fabulous master piece!!!
