when i hear this it seems to me as just a recreation of the lyrics. you can clearly notice was based around just the rythme, beat, those sort of things which is fine its just that they should have done it to this song and the two of the songs concepts are completely different. Bowl for soup was aiming to make an old classic into a modern song, which is where they went wrong as a flock of seagulls wanted it to be an experience and more than just another song. one way of knowing this is the start.
