  • Jani > Sonata

  • The intro of this awesome song is inspired in a Hans Zimmer song, I invite you to listen to:

Be Prepared, from the movie The Lion King. The intro is the same thing =)

  • Great!

  • dang it i can only hit the like button once... i'd think youtube would make the exeption for sonata arctica

  • obviously 7 people believe in a land of imprisonment

  • I Kinda agree, I expected this to be a cover of Gamma Ray, but it's still an extremely good song :D

  • @KrigoCA haha me too , thought it was a gamma ray cover , one year ago :P:P

  • land of the free by gamma ray is much better i think ...

  • @ACCEPT1979 Yeah, it is but Sonata has their own unique style of power metal although they aren't the grandfather of metal like Kai they are very amazing.

  • @DioandMaiden I prefer gamma ray but i love sonata because ..well i think it's close to classical music, am i right? lol

  • @dafronasmia Yeah it is very based off of Classical and Baroque era music.

  • with two things in this song a have a problem 1st fuck why is it so short

and 2nd why i dont can this song not have in my ears

    sry for my english

  • taa~ke full advantage when we cannot see make them live in a part time reality!

  • i miss the good sonata arctica =(

  • 5 people did not feel the rhythm of sonata arctica

  • Kai Hansen is a god.

  • @shinryu1285 What does he have to do with this song? (Note: I'm not sarcastically saying he has nothing to do with it, I'm asking the question honestly)

  • @giygasattack Gamma Ray has an album named Land of the Free. Sonata also covered I Want Out, a song he composed.

But, this song specifically, Gamma Ray album :]

  • Genial pero nada como land of the free de gamma ray

  • there is so much power then the intro finish and that heavy guitar riff and the drum turn on

  • To all french people, listen closely, you can hear "T'es fou le pater c'est twit en osti" at 1:12 :P You have to listen to it very closely tho

  • LOL

  • wow, first time i've heard this song... though i heard each from them ;) ... and now i again wish they could change to their awesome old style, not this shit they performed in the days of grays, except some songs...

  • @BloCKheadKamikaze

Don't hate on a band progressing. I absolutely love Sonata, no matter what album I'm listening. You just need to give Days of Grays and Unia more time for listening, because the songs are so much more complicated because of their different structure. I guarantee that if you just open your mind and listen to their progressive songs enough times, you'll love them just as much as the old ones (if not even more).

  • @SurvivorsOfTitanic i do like unia... but days of grays hmm i've heard that songs many times but i just can't get through that, songs like everything fades to gray or as if the world wasn't ending etc.... they are just too depressing for me, well they got some depressive songs in their older stuff but they're still powerful enough to be awesome ;)

  • @SurvivorsOfTitanic That is so true. The first time I listened to Unia I thought wtf, I wasted $20 (because I will actually buy cds from band that i adore). But after listening to it a few times, I couldn't help but appreciate the story-lines and the layers of harmony in songs such as, "How to create a warlike feel", and "Fly with the Black Swan".

  • @MrPlombert

Ekhem.... 'scuz me... What these weird signs are actually for...?

  • @EvilCookieMastermind dont know how i got the :P i just copied them from another guy =)

  • @MrPlombert If I would want to get them, I would copy them as well- I'm asking what is their practical use or meaning? Cause I see none ;p It's like... dunno.. "Bob <3" which is clearly telling that Bob is smaller than three... o_0 I just looove Sonata Arctica but I also believe there are better ways of gloryfying them than bunch of meanless signs :P

  • Wov Sonata's songs are full of hidden symbolism ( not only this song :-) ) - and I love that.. My english is bad, and I don't understand all thinks, but when I sit down and start reading lyrics of SA I'm totally impressed... GREAT JOB TONY! ^.^

  • Sona is one of the greatest Bands ever

  • When he says "From the shadows of the stars comes a man with no face soul of a million scars" is he reffuring to a guy that's been cut all over his face, so his skin's been ripped off, an he's lost his love, and he'll never forgive himself?

That's the impression I get anyway

  • @AriochStarr Im not sure - I think it means an anonymous man - either a man who we dont know the identity of, or just a way of saying - it could be anybody in the world.

I think soul of a million scars simply beens battered physically or emotionally and simply tired and worn.

  • i love this song but since my first language is french i keep hearing french lyrics and it sounds really freakin funny x) anyways i love sonata arctica i wish i could go to their show in montreal april 7th but i cant :( fml

  • hey that great! everybody know about sonata arctica closely worldwide!

    best band 4 life!

  • "„¸¸¨°º¤ø„¸¸„ø¤º°¨¸„ø¤º°¨

    ¨°º¤ø„¸ Sonata Arctica ¸„ø¤º°¨

    ¸„ø¤º°¨FOREVER``°º..." from Germany

  • @pe2ga4sus i agree from america

  • That song are beautiful.Like nightwish i think.

  • This song should have more recognition, it's a superb song. They've never played it live though :/.

  • They have partly. It was in a medley together with the power of one, destuction preventer, false news travels fast and sing in silence on the 2007 reckoning night tour

  • Oh, thanks for enlightening me. I didn't know that. Regardless though, it was still in a medley :/.

They should like... do a "Blast from the Past" tour. Where they try and play all the older songs.

  • @Mythically preferably with Jani doing his guitar masterpieces

  • well as an intro for full moon tony kakko decided to have the band play bright eyes, and he seang the chorus then had a fitt and entered into full moon :D tonny is just crayzeeee

  • @mansduality:

@ the concert where i was before full moon he started with "turn around" lol

  • Yeah, you're right

  • They did, on the Songs of Silence cd (their first live cd) they have the live song:)

  • extraoordinario

como siempre sonata artica haciendo bien las cosas

  • sick means very good ! That's a sick song ---> That's a great song!

  • plus whoever was saying they only have 1 song, i dont know wat ur on about. Dragonforce did 4 albums!?!

  • yes they did 4. But when you listen to them... well... than i start thinking isnt that just one song?

welll the first album is good, but the others... all the same.

okay offtopic, here we talk bout sonata... xD

  • guys if u are here to critisize df then go away

  • What a great song. Definitely one of the best power metal bands. They are able to give the band a characteristic atmosphere.. so clear. They even are able to make a fast song sound beautiful. They´re a legend.

  • I couldn't have said that any better if I tried.

  • Hahaha, thanks ; )

  • Comment removed

  • The Intro reminds me to nightwish's 10th man down ..... listen to it and tell me if I'm right!

  • the progression is slightly different and the tone is very different, but yeah, they are quite similar

  • That's also not to mention that DF has only one song, and SA has many.

  • Df and sonata arctica is not the same

becuse Df cant even play ther stuf live yust computer made solos. But sonata are playing ther own stuff at home and live

sow yust go and suck some monkey balls Df fan,s

  • Some official releases are even recorded live during a concert. I believe The Power Of One is one of those.

  • One thing I like about Sonata Arctica. Usually there songs have a good message. This song is about our culture and how truly wicked it is. Throw water to fire!

  • ._. DF sucks

Viva the real power metal, say no to the formula of use the same scale with diferent tone!!

  • i wish i lived in such a land

  • Excellent song. Gamma Ray also have a song of the same name that is quite great too.

  • (It dosen't change the fact that Sonata Atica is the better band)

  • i know that sonata arctica is the better band ... it was just a joke.

  • I know yu were just joking... It was a joke. :P

  • hey curryapplepie, i love sonata arctica. i was just joking about this guy (SarothCyngus) below. chill

  • I gawd, that solo :'(

Punch me guys, it's too freakin' beautiful.

  • Omg I thought I was the only one who couldn't get enough of that solo. It's fucking awesome

  • Freaking amazing song i love it <3333!!

  • this is a cover right?

  • What do you mean? 1. if you appoint to the picture, then YES, it is the cover of Silence album. 2. if you mean that this song is a cover of another one, then NO, this is an original Sonata song, not a remake, or "cover".

  • alright thanks, its just that i know they do covers sometimes, and gamma ray is a band i never have heard of has a song with the same name.

  • this version of land of the free is an original Sonata song but Gamma Ray also released a different song with the smae name

  • Sonata Arctica>Gamma Ray

  • says someone with DragonForce in his name. GG kid now go kill yourself.

  • But everybody know that money has been made by faking people 'cause they speed everything up in the studio's & I never liked StudioForce.

I would even prefer listen to rap.

  • Well, dragonforce cant play their own stuff. compare DF and sonata live, asshole.

  • shut up u probly dont even have a dick

  • Sonata Artica*Gamma Ray<DragonForce

  • lmao, i dunno when it started but at some point, to the left of the man holding the torch thing, on the silence side, the image moves, anyone else see it?

  • yeah...

  • It also moves a bit to the right of the word "Silence" and in the snowy trees.

  • Is this the same song that Gamma Ray sang in 1995? Im pretty sure they're different songs but with the same name?

  • Same name, different song.

  • Actually that's not bad stuff but the Land of the Free from Gamma Ray is by far much more thrilling! come on kidz go back to the classics...
