yeah don imus was the announcer..wow who would prove to be a dumb stupid racist azz hole in his later life..and most likely in his early life too..what a dick face
THIS GROUP WAS BAD AS HELL NEVER A GRAMMY BLACK SABBATH ALSO-BUT ADDED SO MUCH TO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY THIS BAND HAD GREAT MUSICIANS-PERIOD...SPACE TRUCKING AT CALIFORNIA JAM IS THE FUCKING GREATEST SHOW I EVER SEEN ON TV-sure blackmore used a hendrix gag..but hey blackmore loved hendrix...as most guitar players back then...man oh man cal jam was just great...deep purple-elp black sabbath in that order were the baddest -and earth wind and fire did a helava job too if anyone remembers..
Thats about right, I saw the lineup some where after I posted that. My bro's went to the US fest in 83', but I skipped it. I remember how it was in the mid 70's, and how the girls looked, and the whole feel, but I was just starting little league, & was too young for that kind of fun. I remember a hell of a lot more "Americans" in America back then, and ppl seemed more interested in eachother in general. All of the technology has taken a lot away from the simple pleasures of life. Just my opin.
Wow..Thanks for posting this. My sister and I had gone to Ontario Airport that day to send my Mom off to San Francisco. Then we saw this huge purple jet land and ran over to see. We were standing behind the fence watching the plane land and the band get off and get into those cars. It wasn't all that quick. Took a good 20 minutes. I was like 14. It was so cool. When all the excitement was over, we turned around and my Mom's flight was long gone...LOL
I was at Cal Jam 1. Amazing day and night. ELP stole the show as the headliners, but Sabbath and Deep Purple also rocked the house!!! Hard to believe it was over 33 years ago!
WTF is wrong with you??? you are in all deep purple videos saying the same shit, you are an anti-deep purple, the only dumbass who says that ELP stole the show is you
Pay attention CHILD....I am NOT anti-Deep Purple at all. Love their music! One of the main reasons I was at Cal Jam. It just bugs me when twats like yourself ramble on about something they know nothing about. DP rocked the house! No question about it! Feel better child?

I was there. By the time ELP came out we (the crowd) were just knackered. Every one was leaving. Keith Emerson's "Flying Piano" went over like a turd in the punch bowl.
That's the same jet "The Starship" that's in Led Zeppelin's Song Remains the Same movie.

CalJamScott did nothing of the kind. What he did do was record the California Jam from the FM radio station that was simulcasting it. Nothing more.
