They form cohesion through shared membership in the tribe and agreement that "Is it good for the Jews?" is a question that must always be asked. Two Jews may hold three opinions, but Jews cannot really question Jewishness and the tribe's collective interests at a certain fundamental level without the risk of being labeled a "self-hating Jew."

Nobody is asserting that all Jews hold the same views. Instead, the idea is that a certain subset of Jews promoted what they perceived to be beneficial for Jews as a group. The idea is not to weigh positive Jewish contributions against negative ones, but to look at the impact of this stuff.
